Bike is V85TT I am half way through the CDR. I am very pleased with on off road capabilities of this tire. in the twisties this tire does not feel like a knob. No slipping vey stable. Off Road very satisfied with rough terrain, Deep gravel, Moderate sand. very high level of confidence. Only complaint first tire was completely shot at 3200 miles. The first part of my adventure was mostly highway. I had hoped to get 5k miles or so but did not.

I have a 17 GSA 1200 and these tires are perfect if you need to ride your bike on the road to get off road. Seriously, I do not know how they offer true off road tires that literally grip well enough to ride the “twisty’s” without worry. I grew up racing dirt bikes and started riding street thirty five years ago. I have read many of the reviews of these tires claiming they are unsafe on road or that they have no confidence. It appearsMost of those folks have only ridden street so their concern and impression makes sense but I think is a bit inaccurate. Knobby tires on pavement take a while to get used to,No doubt! I remember jumping on Highway 2 (Angeles Crest Highway) on my 79 YZ-125 and cracking the throttle wide open and thinking the bike would shake itself ... MoreI have a 17 GSA 1200 and these tires are perfect if you need to ride your bike on the road to get off road. I remember jumping on Highway 2 (Angeles Crest Highway) on my 79 YZ-125 and cracking the throttle wide open and thinking the bike would shake itself apart from the slapping of those bias ply knobbies. Well, I realized early on that those old knobbies had less traction on pavement then dirt (seriously). The Michelin Wilds, in my experience, offer traction on par with street tires. And I’m talking about riding the canyons and PCH. Are they different then street tires? Yes. They have a slight “Slap” as you ride at higher speeds and they do make a “humming” sound as well. But, it is minimal IMO.All said, they’re are two “negatives” with this tire.1. They’re expensive (but, you get what you pay for in this instance!). These tires offer enough stability and traction to allow me to cut traffic (safely and confidently) and ride high speed canyons and get off on a rutted, muddy, sandy trail and only slow down to change the settings to enduro on my GSA... Amazing technology where the “rubber meets the road” (or trail as the case may be...)2. They do not last long (I had to change the rear tire at 4,800 miles. I think the front will last twice that). So I see it as having two choices (okay three choices):1. Do not ride my GEA off road. Nope, not a choice. That’s why I bought it and a huge reason why I LOVE it!2. Buy tires made for more on road vs off road (Such as the Anakee III’s) and stick to dirt roads only; OR, air them way down (18 to 20 psi) and be REAL careful when riding over rocks so as not to damage the rims or popping the bead off while riding off road), or3. Riding on the Michelin Anakee Wilds (with confidence on and off road) and having to replace them more often then road tires. For me, option 3 is my choice... SAFE TRAVELS

Michelin had at one point had claimed a 50% increase in tread life over the TKC-80. Their site no longer claims that, but instead vaguely states "extraordinary longevity for extended adventures". As long as your extended adventure is less than 2500 miles then that is true.I have previously pushed TKC-80's to 3000 miles total on pavement with about 700 miles on the interstate, but these tires lasted only 2500 miles total with less than 300 miles on the interstate. I was riding with 80lbs of baggage total for 2200 miles, and with a passenger for 180 miles, and unloaded for the remaining 120 miles. The rear tire is nearly bald now. These tires handled well off road, and so well on road it didn't feel like a knob by tire. I installed them myself and went on a 140 mile off pavement ride in rural Oklahoma. I learned three things:1) Revzilla rocks - Tires (front and back) arrived nicely strapped together in cardboard and much faster than I thought they would.2) Much better off road control than the stock Anakee Adventure tires on my 2019 GSA1250. During the 140 mile ride, I rode on a little pavement, dirt, gravel and sand and only had one - "OH SH*T I'M GOING TO DIE" moment. That's compared to 6 or 7 with the stock tires.3) By design they will wear out faster and be much louder than the more street oriented tires. As such, I'm only using them off road and will re-install the stock tires for longer highway trips. The GSA looks awesome with this fresh set of knobs installed. I really can't compare them to any others as I have only owned these on this bike. I also have only put 140 miles on them so I can't comment as to the tread life. If possible I will provide an update after a season on the tires.
I'm a beefy dude on a loaded Africa Twin Adventure Sports, riding in typical east-coast wet/rooty/rocky conditions. Bought these to replace the pathetic stock Dunlops, and it was a total game changer. All the traction I could want off-pavement. Predictable traction on gravely dirt roads, loose climbs, mild mud. These tires happily took me through plenty of "medium bike hard" Enduro trails where I really had to business going.Honestly surprising on-pavement performance. Way more secure and predictable than they look like they should be. Never felt squirmy, but would light the traction control through third gear on dry pavement. Despite the knobbiness, never felt any particular issue with rain grooves, tar snakes, etc. Maybe credit to the radial rear..Noisy. Not the loudest DOT tires I've heard, but louder than my exhaust on the highway. Seemed to get louder as they wore down.Rear wore really evenly. Front suffered from feathering and cupping that really accelerated after about 3000 miles.I replaced these at 5300 miles, but they were honestly out of mojo by 3500. If I had the budget, the patience, and better earplugs, I'd run a new set of these every 3000 miles and be a happy man.
I was only able to get slightly over 2000 miles on them. Off road grip is awful along with wet pavement. I switched to MotoZ Tractionators and was able to get well over 6-7000 miles with their most aggressive off-road models. I have Michelin tires on my other 3 bikes and love them. This particular model though I would pass on.
I just installed my second set. Loved them the front was still good after 5k miles but the rear need replacement at 5k miles which is what they are rated for. I used them on dirt, rocks, sand and pavement from side roads to the interstate. They are good even in heavy rain. I rode approximately 80 miles in torrential rain with no tire issues. The visibility was another matter.
I put these on a 2018 Africa Twin and they are definitely what I was looking for so I could ride more dirt. They seem more like 60/60 tires because they are pretty much knobbies, but they barely feel squirmy on pavement once you break them in. I am not a fast road rider ( like I've done every racing except road racing) but I feel like you can lean over and they will stick and any slippage is super linear. In the dirt, I've been riding them on sand, rocks and mud and plenty of fire roads and they are great all around. Tons of times I have ridden a sidehill to stay out of a washed out rut and the bike sticks as long as I act like it's going to. Predictable when sliding on gravel too. Yes they are sort of noisy but does anyone care? Now that I have a couple thousand ... MoreI put these on a 2018 Africa Twin and they are definitely what I was looking for so I could ride more dirt. I've been riding hard and I think the rear is going kinda quick but I'm still getting another one.
...but probably not for long. LOL.Pros:Excellent performance on-road (considering for what the tires and bike are intended).Excellent performance off-road (compared with the OEM tires, these make the bike feel like it should).Cons:I'm not sure how long this rear tire is going to last, but I'm not betting on seeing the 2000-3000 miles that people report. I think I could probably finish it off in 500 miles but I'll try to stretch it out a bit more.
I use it on an 890 Adventure R. I have done some sandy trails and a lot of twisty roads on road in the mountains. It's amazing how I stay up with my buddies on naked bikes in the Twisties. It sticks to asphalt like chewing gum to your girlfriend's hair. I don't know I'm riding on knobbies when using it on the road. The only thing that I can say is not perfect is that at a100 mph the front starts floating a bit. But that's not how I ride so I'm very happy with it.
