A nice mix of quality, price and function

My local bike shop put some of these on one of my bikes a few years ago. Since then I got kitted out with my own bike tools and bike lift and do all my maintenance myself. These tires are a great combo of grip, decent rolling resistance and price. I love the reflective side walls as well. I have only really worn out one tire since then. The several others I’ve bought have all been terminated by Montreal’s ghetto street conditions- so I can’t blame the tires.

Bought on account of poor reviews for originals

Took longer than expected to despatch. So long in fact that I ordered a repair kit for original tyre. This also took longer come than expected but arrived the day after and worked. Fitted the new tyres and inner tubes to check correct fit and left them on. Price was right with good reviews and they are Michelins - both tyres and tubesOnly had one short trip on them on variety of road and track and they performed fine. Hoped for a further ride but that cut short due to my sons bike picking up a puncture! That is what happens this time of year when the Devon Banks get cut. New pair of tyres for his bike too.

After 5 months of only road riding the side wall cracked and no idea why. Not ridden with flat tyre so very unusual for it to happen. My rear tyre is same make and been on longer with no issues. Thanks to Tredz for excellent service and replacing it for me.

Godd product at a good price

Great tyre but was hoping it wouldn't have the reflective side wall but it does. Other than that it's a good tyre and does the job. Quick delivery by tredz

Comfortable tyres. Water channels should provide good grip in the wet. Reflective stripe on side walls is a night-time bonus.

Judging a book by it's cover. 800-002096
5 August 2024

I purchased set of 2 Protek E-Bike Ready 700 x 28 for an upcoming trip with my Cannondale touring bike. They looked sturdy and I liked the added touch of the reflective strip on the side as I would be doing some early mornings. I was a 100 K's when I felt a wobble in my rear tire, having a look at it I noticed that the bead had separated on the side. I was only 30 K from home and didn't want to use my folding spear so I rode it out and chocked it up to "Stuff Happens". 3 Weeks later it happened to the front tire in the exact same way. 1 maybe but 2 the same way I would say they have a quality control problem. If I still had my receipt I would have taken them back if I has my receipt. I the past I have owned Mich. products and have been satisfied, but I doubt I will ... MoreI purchased set of 2 Protek E-Bike Ready 700 x 28 for an upcoming trip with my Cannondale touring bike. If these failures happed while I was on tour it would have been a trip killer. It's up to you but I won't take the chance again.

Michelin Protek tyres
22 April 2021

Mainly use gravel bike on road. Changed gravel tyres for these Michelin Protek, even though they seem to be heavier tyres, they roll easier and grip well. Only done about 180 miles on them but seem fine. Would've preferred tyres not to have been folded in a box for delivery, as they do not regain shape until filled with air. Just Would've made fitting easier. Other than that, great tyres!

My tires are cracking - at tread and near wire bead - after less than 2 years.
13 May 2022

Put these Proteks on my older mountain bike that I use almost exclusively to go to and from the gym - average of 6 miles per week. Noticed this week that there are multiple cracks; some 1 to 2 cm long; in both tires on the sidewalls near the tread and the wire bead. Am 195 lbs and following the recommended psi [running at 70 to 75 psi]. Also run the same pressure on my Conti Contacts on my Trek Verve and those are fine after almost 2 years & 1500 miles. Both bikes are garaged. Even the old Kenda knobbies that were originally on this old mountain bike did not have any large cracks when I replaced them. Are these Proteks defective or just poorly constructed? Have contacted the dealer that I'd purchased these from, sent images, & have requested replacements [preferably ... MorePut these Proteks on my older mountain bike that I use almost exclusively to go to and from the gym - average of 6 miles per week. Really good everyday tyres
10 June 2021

Very quick delivery. Great tyres for the money. Went from hybrid Kenda 40c to these 38c.More road biased, noticeably faster then previous, around 1mph on usual route according to Strava. Brilliant price, and mine came with very nice reflective stripe.Time will tell how resistant they are, there is Max version with more protection, but heavier of course…

So far, so good
24 January 2023

Heaver than some tyres, as expected and seen in the spec. Also wider than I expected, despite purchasing my usual 700 x 38c size. The slightly higher air pressure than I'm used to may have something to do with this?? Good rolling resistance however. Grip is generally good, even in frosty conditions and over some manhole covers, but oddly I've found that they slip on some wet cobbles. Still very early days, but they have survived my feeble attempts at avoiding potholes, shrapnel in the road and the like.
