It is a shame they are no longer making the Starcross 5 models. The SC5 Medium was hands down the best tire on the market. I used this tire for woods racing in the mid west. I thought it was too expensive (paid over $100 from my local dealer), it is a directional tire which sucks, and I thought the braking traction was bad on it. Maybe it works better for motocross, but it does not work well at all for woods racing. R.I.P Starcross 5 Medium. Unfortunately when there are no more SC5 tires, I will be switching brands. I have been a loyal Michelin customer for YEARS, but this new SC6 does not work for me.-m-2020 YAMAHA YZ250X--

Extremely stiff sidewall.

Not A Woods Tire. 120 90 18 medium -soft. Sidewall is extremely stiff, substantially stiffer than Star-Cross 5 soft and Moto Z Arena hybrid.. Sidewall stiffness is near exactly the same as Moto Z tractionator ADV tubeless tire.. Tire is 2 1/2 lb heavier than Star-Cross 5 soft, same size..120/18s. Nice that Knobbies noticeably taller than Star-Cross 5 and harder compound. Probably good on 450 MX. Tire not mounted and returned.. I will continue to use Star-Cross 5 and Arena hybrid tires in woods Florida sand, Richloam area.-m-2022 BETA 300 RR Race Edition--

Front tire review: Good for MX, bad for woods

Great lean angle traction for the front tire 80-100-21. Not so good traction when bike is more vertical and as other reviewers say not a good woods tire. Likes to slide out on rocks and roots probably due to the stiff sidewall. Consider this a pure MX (or maybe desert) tire only.I would say 4 stars for MX and 2 for woods/hare scrambles.

I love the Starcross 6 med soft front tire. It grips really good in the corners and so far I've had no chunking. It seems to last longer then the Starcross 5 and not chunk like the Starcross 5 did. I ride woods and do open ex gp races here in the pnw!!

Hope they return to making the Starcross 5
14 June 2023

I returned to Starcross 5 Soft, used the starcross 6 soft/med but stiff sidewall made ride harsher and side grip is less on front and considerably less on rear tire. I guess when I cant get the 5 anymore I will look for a replacement, I didnt like the 6 med/soft.-m-2023 HUSQVARNA TX 300 (Fuel Injected)--

Still a top choice for a front.
29 December 2022

The front mid/soft Starcross 6 is every bit as good as the old 5 soft and is wearing like iron. No torn knobs at 20 hours, wet grip seems high, and it rules in the loose desert. Its about 1/2 lb heavier, and just a tiny bit stiffer than its predecessor. Run with a broken in Michelin mousse, the tire absorbs hack just fine.-m-2021 SHERCO 300 SE Factory--

i am surprised at the bad reviews on this tire. all i have ever run for years is the sc5 soft. the sc6 front i dont see much of any difference in performance from the sc5. the rear however there is a huge difference. this easily last twice as long as the sc5, the knobbies are taller, traction in the soft stuff is much better. the sc6 is a little squirrely in the back when its new but i find this true with every tire. once its broken in a little this tire hooks like crazy. riding woods in everything from sugar sand to gravel roads and hard pack dirt.-m-2020 KTM 350 EXC-F--
