Microplane’s Master Series Coarse grater can be used for hard cheese, ginger, carrots, nuts, coconut, horseradish, etc. The beautifully crafted handles of the Master Series are made of American walnut, and the non-slip rubber ends give the graters extra stability. In 2017, the Master Series graters won the Red Dot Award. The graters of the US-based Microplane are favourites of professional chefs and demanding connoisseurs. The secret of the success is the chemical photo-etching technique that makes the blades of the graters significantly sharper, stronger than more durable than most graters. All the chemically etched Microplane blades are made in the USA and assembled in Mexico.

Definitely worth the bump is price compared to the original one. Feels sturdier and the wood handle makes the Microplane heavier, something that was bothering me with the original one.The Master serie is made, personnaly, only for the people who wants the nicer things is life. Not better than the original one. In my kitchen, when I got it, people where using it more, but after a while, not that much vs the original one since the handle with the master one is not ergonomique wise.

I absolutely love this kitchen tool. The micro grater works so well and is so sharp that it does its work with ease. It is well built, durable and looks great in the kitchen. I highly recommend it!

Only 2 issues are the plastic cover doesn’t stay on and the wood handle isn’t smooth and has rough edges. Because of the wood, I would wash in the dishwasher either. I definitely keep it oiled. The microplane portion works wonderfully as expected from the rest of their products

Ordered this for my spouse who has never been a fan of our box grater. A real game changer and looks beautiful for communal use during a dinner party or taken to a potluck. Actually received compliments on this grater when I showed up to a friend’s party with it (fresh grated parm makes everything better!).
The grater portion is really sharp and the rubber end keeps this from sliding around when you are grating into a bowl. It makes grating anything a quick task. Also easy to clean as a bonus. I personally like that it is wood and stainless steel because I have a plastic free home. I liked it so much I bought one for both of my adult kids as well.
I bought this zester plus a ribbon grater in the same range. Honestly, it's life-changing. I am grating and zesting all that comes my way in the kitchen. I also love the wooden handle - for an artisanal feel.If the house was on fire, I'd go back into the flames to fetch my Microplanes :-)
These really are the best graters on the market. I use this one mainly for grating ginger and Parmesan cheese. These food items mean a lot of pressure through the welds. Welds have weakened over time. I cook a lot and these graters tend to last me 3-4 years. I haven’t found a better alternative.
This is the third Microplane I have bought, the most recent as a gift because anyone who sees them oohs and aahs about what a game-changer they are. From zesting lemons (whoever thought it could be so easy... and it is the glühwein time of the year) to grating Parmesan cheese into a light fluffiness it is without equal. Buy one (or two) — you will not regret it.
Very sharp and grates ribbon carrots/apples perfectly for my cooking needs. Watch out for your fingers, however, practise makes near perfect! Can't manage without it.Worth the expense in my humble opinion.
Have known the microplane brand for roughly 10 years however my first microplane's handle broke off, second one I bought from yuppiechef couple of years ago also broke right where the handle connects. This morning my Master series fine grater decided that it will no longer hold on to its blade, the whole blade mechanism came loose from the rest of the grater. Its hardly a year old and the thing is already broken....not good!!!
