This is s brilliant bit of kit! Far superior to any other grater or any of the other ranges they make as the frame is completely rigid and will not break - I had one of the domestic ones first and loved it for 3 weeks before the plastic frame went brittle and cracked. Thereafter it got wobblier and wobblier until it broke altogether. This is infinitely stronger and well worth the extra cost. Cheese grated with this is perfect for omelettes, fajitas and other cooking purposes. I have now collected all but the coarse grater and use them on a daily basis.

I bought this grater to replace my old one with a cracked plastic frame, so the all metal construction of this grater looked like a good idea. It is the sharpest grater I have ever owned. I was surprised at how quickly a grating job could be completed with such a sharp grater. My grater came with a plastic cover for the cutting surface when storing. One warning, the top edge of the blade area seems sharp enough to slice things, so I would be very careful to keep my hand away from that edge. I will definitely consider more kitchen products that are labeled as "professional."
Love these graters - retain their sharpness over time, so handy to grab and use while cooking. Had one with plastic frame before that eventually broke. This one has a metal frame and is slightly more expensive but will hopefully last even longer. A great product i get a lot of use from.
This is a very sharp grater, which is most useful for items that a normal grater wouldn't manage very well, e.g. ginger, garlic, courgette, thumbs ...Yes, take care, it is sharp!I don't find it any better than my very old box grater for cheddar cheese, apples, carrots, etc - and the old grater is easier as you don't need to watch out for your fingers so much. However the microplane is a very useful item of kit where you need that extra cutting ability. It comes with a useful plastic slide-on cover so it can easily be kept in a drawer for example. It's labelled extra coarse - I'd say it's similar to the standard coarse side of a typical box grater.
