Then about 11months after that and now we are looking at ordering another charger... so aggravated! My brother has same laptop and says charger only lasts about 1.5 years on average before needing replacement so it is either a common issue or we just so happened to get the 2 worst of the lot!!!! Never again... i'd give zero stars if i could. Not to mention the argument with BestBuy itself when i tried doing a return in beginning bc i was barely past the return date and Microsoft would only send me a replacement cord for the 1st time!

However, I did find a hack on a MS forum that suggested going into device manager, delete the keyboard; go into windows updates and install all updates; restart and reinstall the keyboard driver (mine did this automatically) and all should be fine. I haven't haven't had ANY problems with the charger since.

DIED AFTER 42 DAYS!
2 September 2021

I am an active duty military member and I bought this laptop in order to support my job, teleworking, and college classes. It worked great. I could do everything I needed to and more! But! After only 42 days!!! It stopped working and would not take a charge. I called Microsoft Tech Support and did all 3 steps of their trouble shooting and told me I needed to send it in and they would send me a refurbished laptop. After having a 1200 laptop for less that 1.5 months, I was going to get a refurbished laptop?! That can’t be right. So, I went to best buy. They looked at it and said they would have to send it off to be looked at. Geek Squad can’t even work on these! Instead I am forced to get a refurbished one. In addition, I am forced to buy a new laptop in the meantime to accomplish my school and telework.

Finally... a Windows laptop perfect for me

Seemd no Windows laptops manufacturers could rival the almost-alien but exceptional palm-rejection of the Macbooks. I have very big hands and I couldn't find a laptop with a trackpad with palm-rejection good enough where the cursor didn't bounce around as I typed. Until now. Also the feel of the trackpad surface feels like Gorilla-glass-- a very smooth, responsive, comfortable experience.Although I think this laptop is probably a little overpriced, what you get for the money is a fantastic experience. The touchpad is a class act-- like my Macbook Air-- no unintended movement-- rock solid. I know Microsoft is competing directly against the Macbooks in this category, and that stiff competition forced them to produce this marvelous machine. I grew up with Windows machines and preferred them because there are things about the Mac operating system I can't seem to get used to. Finder in Mac OS confuses me and when I save a file I can't often tell whether I saved it to the computer or the cloud or some weird limbo area I can't see. And I hated the fact that you can't close an app on the Macbook by clicking on the red X-- it's still running in the background. But because I couldn't find a Windows machine as well built as the Macbooks, I put up with it. I'm so glad to have this machine now. The taller screen is great for my writing, and has beautiful colors, easy on my older eyes even with the resolution lowered. I am a big stickler regarding keyboards--and the feel of this one is perfect- even better than the Magic Keyboard on the 2020 M1 Macbook Air I sold. Some have described this keyboard as mushy. I don't feel that-- I feel it's got just the right amount of comfortable feedback that makes you WANT to type on it. And the fact that it's backlit is the icing on the cake. The laptop is quiet-- I don't hear the fan much except if I'm charging it and also downloading programs at the same time. The 15-inch size is perfect for my large hands-- they aren't cramped or make me feel like my left wrist is going to fall off the end of the wrist rest, like some other 15.6 inch laptops with number pads. I do miss having a separate number pad, but it's ok-- Macbooks don't have it either.I got the Microsoft Surface 4 rather than the Surface 5 -- I wanted the one with the Ryzen 7 processor because battery life is more important to me, and Best Buy is still selling them new. But performance is great-- never had any lagging with any of the programs that I run. I'm not a gamer so having integrated graphics is fine for me too.Seems with the Surface Laptop Microsoft made the laptop with the hardware meant to showcase the Windows experience, where the hardware works well with the software and doesn't get in the way. So I just want to say, Good Job, Microsoft. This is how Windows computers ought to be. Other Windows laptop manufacturers can take a page from your book because some of us DON'T want to compromise. If I find I don't use the Macbooks any more they'll go up for sale, as I may be back to Windows for good. If you want a Windows machine and you can afford a Surface Laptop-- figure out which one you need according to the specs, and buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Gets the job done, but lacks inspiration
2 May 2022

The trackpad is stiff, the design has somewhat of a cheap feeling (mostly plastic), and the charger feels weird. It’s hard to plug in due to its awkward shape. I use it for work and it’s gets the job done but it’s not something that screams desirable for personal use. Also the keyboard does not feel very high quality (my “O” key was super stuff when I first got it, but I think it was abused by previous owner). So in conclusion, it’s an okay laptop but it doesn’t make me feel special. Comparing this product to a MacBook Pro is not even fair although they have same product placement in market. I guess if you are obsessed with touchscreen computer, it’s a better option than Mac but I honestly don’t see anyone tapping on laptops so I don’t know why Microsoft pushes ... MoreThe trackpad is stiff, the design has somewhat of a cheap feeling (mostly plastic), and the charger feels weird. Go metal

I really liked this computer. The metal body provided a much better typing experience than the fabric covers. There was very little flex to the keyboard, the mouse trackpad was fantastic, and the screen was pretty enough. The touchscreen is a nice feature, but if you are someone who uses a stylus, it's not good for much here besides laying down and scrolling with the pen, as trying to draw and do meaningful work with it is difficult with this screen not folding back like a 2-in-1.Ultimately returned this because I couldn't stomach the price. It's a premium build quality, and this is probably the closest to a Macbook for performance/value in an ultrabook. Just disappointment
4 June 2022

Got this laptop to work form home and the durability is just the worst. My screen cracked from just lifting the screening open, The other problem I been having is that the speaker crack when every I have it at a higher volume. I'm just so disappointed I wanted something different the whole sea of Macbooks, so I saw the surface and just love the look. Unfortunately quality wasn't there. if he really want this laptop I would get the warrant on it that unfortunately I didn't get.

Mac but not a Mac
1 September 2021

This laptop is the closest thing you'll get to a mac without being a mac. Build quality is superb, only thing I wish I had was a slightly bigger trackpad. I had a dell 9510 but had two defective units so I gave up on getting one and started looking for something else. People like to get caught up in ram and performance, etc. Honestly, for everyday use you'll never be able to tell the difference. I mostly (90%) use it for watching movies and surfing the net. I have the AMD version 8GB. Laptop works great, can't tell a difference in speed at all. This laptop is super light weight compared to other 15' laptops. I love the 3x2 ratio. Charges up super quick and then battery really does last long. I don't use the touch screen at all so I actually turned it off to save battery life. I'm probably getting 12 hours on a full charge and it seems to take 1 hour to get to 90% (if you're not using the laptop while it's charging). The specs may not be as impressive, but do I regret my purchase.....HECK NO!

Outstanding laptop

Very high quality build. Very fast. Microsoft hardware has been top notch for about 6 or 7 years now and the trend continues here. I threw a Windows 10 Enterprise key on it and 5 minutes later I was up and running. If you're wondering - 8gb is more than enough. I have 2 different browsers open with over 30 tabs open, while also playing a movie over VLC with zero issues. Huhlu, YouTubeTV and prime apps also stream fine. Office apps fly.I have used both the 15" and this 13.5" and I far prefer this version, especially since the bezels are so thin it almost feels like a 15".The screen is very high quality with great resolution. You can't go wrong with one of these. I have seen so-called "experts" call this a budget laptop. Don't make me laugh. Remember, these ... MoreVery high quality build. Very fast. Remember, these "experts" are sent free laptops loaded out with far more than most need so they lose perspective on reality. 90% of people don't need more than an i5 with 8gb ram.
