It lasted for a full day of use without needing a recharge, which is a significant advantage for busy individuals. The keyboard on the Surface Laptop Go is comfortable and responsive. The keys have good travel and provide a satisfying typing experience. The trackpad is also smooth and precise, making navigation a breeze. One downside to note is the limited number of ports. It only has one USB-A and one USB-C port, which can be a bit restrictive if you need to connect multiple peripherals simultaneously. However, this can be mitigated with the use of a hub or adapter. Overall, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go i5 Platinum is an excellent choice for those in need of a compact and powerful laptop. Its stylish design, solid performance, and long battery life make it a great companion for productivity and entertainment.

Often, running websites in chrome was slow, and glitchy.Typing on it can also get a bit uncomfortable after a while.PROSOne of the best things about this computer is how big the screen is for the size, it makes viewing things very convenient. It's very nice to look at. It's small size makes it easily portable and it can fit in most bags. The modern, and sleek look of it makes it appear as a nicer computer than it actually is.The speakers on the computer get pretty loud. I would recommend it for watching shows/movies. However, it's not the best for listening to music out loud. The screen gets really bright.FINALAs long as you have no issue with the fan running, taking a charger with you everywhere, and sometimes sacrificing screen quality, I would say that this laptop is good for its value. I primarily used it for school, very light gaming, and entertainment purposes and it performed those well enough.

A fun, lightweight premium computer.

While it small with its hard drive size, this machine still does great. if bought at the 549 price point. Its screen has a 3:2 ratio(1536x1024), so it makes working with documents and websites nicely, video playback will have bars, and optimize to 720p. If you need a larger screen, it will connect via USB-C using an adapter cable to DisplayPort or HDMI, or directly if your monitor can use it. That single USB-C can also charge the laptop, I recommend at least using a 45 watt charger, but it does come with its own surface charging brick. Sadly the one it includes, does not include the extra USB port on the charger, like it does on other surface models. The webcam is okay, however its better than anything at this price point on the market. I would describe this computer as the premium cheap computer, or a Windows competitor to the Chromebooks.Does support windows 11, but mine came with windows 10s. Make sure to do the free upgrade to windows 10 home at least, or windows 11 home, to get access to install applications outside of the Microsoft store. Once this machine has android application support on windows 11, it will be a great competitor to any similarly priced Chromebook.Hard drive space is small, and the windows install will take up about 32-40ish gigabytes. Recommend using a cloud service such as OneDrive or Google Drive to hold your files, or an external drive. Installing a larger internal is possible, but it's not a straightforward install, and plastic tabs can get damaged if not done properly. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth operate fine, and I never had any issues yet with flaky connections, or dropouts. For a small, on the go laptop, this is great. Its battery life will last about 7-8 hours with screen brightness at 50% with basic computing tasks and videos, making it fine to leave the charger at home, or carry a small one if you need to charge. I use mine for some basic website front end development things. For the cons, the keyboard isn't backlit, so if you need to see the keys in the dark room it will be hard. I also wish it had one more usb port, a normal sized one or a usb-c.

Exceptional service and product

I was a little hesitant about purchasing a refurbished product rather than an open box product, which has always been my preferred choice ... until getting this Surface Laptop Go from Hyper Mega Electronics. The reviews on both the product and the company to date seemed excellent, so I ordered one.It arrived within a couple of days, packaged within a box, within a box, within a box. Basically it was very well packaged. The final box was a sealed Microsoft box with a 'certified refurbished' sticker on it. If it wasn't for that sticker, you'd think it was new. Inside, the laptop came with the protective cover and the cables were again packaged as if new. The laptop itself was in flawless condition. I upgraded out of Windows 10 S mode and Windows 11 should soon be available for a free upgrade. Fan noise is minimal when not stressing the CPU and the keyboard is lovely, responsive and very quiet. Screen is great. I won't do any more of a review of the laptop itself than that because there's more thorough professional reviews out there, so this is more of a big thumbs up for the seller and to Best Buy. I would absolutely buy from this seller again.

Fantastic travel PC

I have used a large gaming laptop as my daily driver for a few years now and was in the market for something to use on the couch or traveling. I was pretty much sold on a mid level chromebook before I did a deep dive into the surface products. At the time I purchased this the 8GB/128 model was on sale for $550 so it seemed like a fair price to get the mid spec offering.I tried this laptop and a few others in the price range in store before deciding to go with the Surface Laptop Go. It is missing some pretty basic stuff, like a backlit keyboard, but somehow it feels good enough in the hand that it doesn't bother me.The reviews I watched prior to purchase all mentioned the screen being less than full HD. It is missing some pretty basic stuff, like a backlit keyboard, but somehow it feels good enough in the hand that it doesn't bother me.The reviews I watched prior to purchase all mentioned the screen being less than full HD. I was expecting this to be a deal breaker when I tried the laptop in person and oh boy, was I wrong. With a screen less than 13 inches the PPI is high enough to not cause blurry text or grainy video. It looks exponentially better than a 27" 1080p monitor in terms of sharpness.Side by side with my wife's 2019 macbook air with retina display you can definitely see a difference in pixel density, but under 90% of it's use case I would never pick up on it. Videos are bright, sharp and vibrant in a well lit room. This will be awesome for watching movies in the airport/on a plane or browsing youtube on the couch.Overall I think 128GB of storage is a bit low for a main computer but it's perfect for a secondary PC for media consumption. I have a whole season of Ozark and a full length movie downloaded through Netflix and still have about 50 gigs free.Battery life so far has been middling due to it's constant windows updates and the upgrade to windows 11. But with many of these types of devices you really should put 2 or 3 full charges through it before judging the battery capacity. I'm getting about 6 hours of heavy web browsing use at 75% volume as of the second charge. Better than the first charge so things are improving there.Performance wise it exceeds at what my use case is, web browsing and streaming movies. This is not a gaming PC, it never will be. There are lots of cheap gaming options out there if you need a school/work computer that also doubles as a fortnite machine in the evenings. So look elsewhere. This is a great looking and well built system that will be supported for years to come. I would definitely try the PC in store before purchasing to see if either of the two weaknesses are turnoffs for you, those being the lack of backlit keyboard and less than FHD screen. I thought they would be deal breakers before getting it in hand and had to eat my words.

Great inexpensive laptop with a just okay battery

I use this for work in a medical office mostly using web based health records, doing telehealth appointments, and running the business. Have been using it daily for 4 weeks. This Surface Laptop Go replaced my Surface Pro 7 after I dropped it and damaged it beyond repair. I was contemplating going with a Chromebook due to the lower price but went with the Surface Laptop Go when I saw how inexpensive it was. A Chromebook would not work with our current label printer which I use a couple times per week. Staying with the Surface product allowed me to use my current chargers and also I knew it would be compatible with all the hardware in the office. This laptop has worked great so far. The screen is nice and bright although I haven't used it outside in bright sunlight. I like the narrow bezel that makes the screen seem larger. The keyboard I would rate as excellent! It is large enough to not feel cramped, nice feel on the keys and it feels solid, trackpad very responsive. Definitely an upgrade from the Surface cover keyboard.Camera, mic and speakers are adequate, nothing outstanding. The battery life has been disappointing only getting about 7 hours from a full charge. Not a huge problem for me since I have chargers all over the office but this would not work well for a full day at school or a long day at work without recharging. So 4 stars because of battery life.I would also like to have more than one USB port.I am a fan of Chromebooks but the nice price on this has me changing my mind. Also Best Buy matched a price I found online so way to go Best Buy!

Premium looks on the go performance
28 December 2022

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go is an excellent piece of hardware which sits in the midrange tier of laptop/netbook class. On the build quality it certainly looks premium and sleek and very portable. It is equipped with a 12.4 inch display which adds to its overall portable form factor. While resolution is good I wouldn’t call it amazing but it gets the job done. There is also a 720p front facing camera that will get the job done for any video conferencing needs that you may have. The Microsoft Surface Go laptop comes with 8GB of memory and 256 GB of storage which is pretty ample for a daily workhorse laptop for the average user. It is really lightweight coming in at about 2 and 1/2 pounds. It handles multitasking very well and doesn’t seem to get very hot with multiple programs and windows open. The keyboard is nice and typing is enjoyable pair along with the smooth mousepad.Overall if you’re looking for a mid tier portable laptop I’d go with the Microsoft Surface Go.

Really disappointed with performance.

I was looking for something smaller and more portable than my Surface Laptop 2 (that I haphazardly ruined by spilling water on...it was a great laptop and could handle what I gave it). I thought I'd get the same with this with similar specs. I use an external monitor and keyboard for when I need lots of real estate so I thought this could handle spread sheets, word, PDF editing and a bit of multi-tasking. It cannot. It throttles, hesitates horribly, and has issues just catching up - to the point that it needs a vacation. Battery life degraded quickly to where I get maybe 4 hrs if i'm lucky. I have tried to live with it for 9 mos and can't deal anymore. This laptop is fine for portability, surfing online, email, videos, but don't count on it to do anything more ... MoreI was looking for something smaller and more portable than my Surface Laptop 2 (that I haphazardly ruined by spilling water on...it was a great laptop and could handle what I gave it). Such a bummer because I love it's size and how it looks. I just upgraded to a Surface Pro 8 and this GO will GO to Grandma.

Solid Quality; Poor Components
24 June 2022

Unfortunately, had to exchange this device for something that could handle a bit more productivity. I work from home as Telehealth and was looking for an upgrade, settled with an upgradeable Dell laptop instead. I'll list the pros and cons that pertain to those who may also be looking at this to work from home with:Pros:- Light/Thin easy to carry around- Touchscreen (I never used it)- Trackpad and keys feel nice to type on and use- WindowsHello and Fingerprint sensor securityCons (for my personal work):- 1080p on 12.4" screen is tough when running Excel and multiple windows- RAM is non-upgradeable (this was my #1 issue, apparently my workload requires ~16GB)- Only comes with 128GB SSD for the price (I returned this for a Dell that was $50 cheaper and ... MoreUnfortunately, had to exchange this device for something that could handle a bit more productivity. After an update didn't resolve the fan noise, I reached out to Microsoft and they told me to just exchange it because it's a "defect." I decided to just not deal with it anymore. It created a specific frequency of whining that wasn't high in decibels, but the microphone could pick it up and it became annoying quite quick. There's no way to control the fan either, the only way it would stop was if you unplugged the power and forced the laptop into low-power mode. I found multiple sources with hundreds of other dissatisfied customers with this same issue. If none of these cons bother you, the laptop overall is a solid purchase. The components are good, Microsoft is excellent at building laptops and their Surface line gives Apple a run for their money. Although, I would only use this if I were an undergrad again and had access to headphones!

Wasn’t Any Difference Between New & Refurbished
18 January 2023

So, I bought a Certified Refurbished device from Mega PC Mall through the Best Buy website. It was a hard decision but I went for the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 12.4" Multi-Touch (Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD & Windows 10S in Sand Stone, gorgeous colour omg)They shipped it very quickly and it was delivered within a day or two!Anyways, the title said it was in “excellent” condition. But when it arrived and I opened it up, there was no way I could tell the it had been previously used. It was in absolutely PERFECT condition. Not one little scratch or mark anywhere. If it wasn’t labeled as refurbished, then I wouldn’t have even known that it was!And to top it off, I got it for like half of the retail price!!And their customer service was top notch, very hard ... MoreSo, I bought a Certified Refurbished device from Mega PC Mall through the Best Buy website. They were extremely professional, knowledgeable, very kind, and most of all they were very quick with their response times which blew me away!
