Microsoft - Surface Pro Signature Type Cover - Poppy Red

This keyboard is an accessory that you need to have for the surface pro. The surface pro is just designed to be a tablet and a laptop. Therefore I would highly encourage to purchase this keyboard. There may be others with a generic model I don't know. After spending what I did on a new surface pro 7 this model fits my tablet quite nicely. Being able to fold and use touch, keyboard, or a Microsoft pen really adds to this device. I would highly recommend. Its a bit on the pricey side but well worth it once you start using the device.

I'm coming to this after using a MacBook Pro for many years.On my lap, the Surface Pro 6 and Type Keyboard Cover have similar stability and feel as a traditional laptop. The strong magnetic connection between the two set aside any worries that they'll separate mid-use. When closed, the Cover seems sturdy enough to keep my Surface Pro screen in top condition. Unfortunately it doesn't hold itself closed, as there are no magnets on the trackpad end, but that's a minor issue, if any.When using the Surface Pro as a tablet, the Cover can be folded all the way round, so there's no need to remove it. When reattaching the Cover, the Surface Pro will handily switch between Tablet Mode and the full Windows desktop user interface, although these settings can be changed.Aside from that, the keys are very satisfying to type on, with around 2mm travel, whist the alcantara surround feels great on my wrists. There are a range of music controls on the Function keys as expected, including 'play/pause' and 'volume up/down'. However, I would have liked to see 'skip forward/back' keys too, as appear on MacBooks.It took me a little longer to get used to the trackpad, which is much smaller than you'd find on MacBooks and most other laptops. Given the size of the device, I'm not sure a bigger one would have been possible. The feel, sensitivity and gesture recognition are all spot on though.Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase and would consider it to be an essential one for anyone wanting to take full advantage of the hybrid nature of the Surface Pro.

Great keyboard with good look and feel. For a "laptop" keyboard the key touch and action are very good. Love the pen and charger system. The pen surprised me. It has a nice feel for a flat/slim stylus. I was surprised at its smoothness on the screen. This may not seem important, but I have an iPad in a case with a pen holder and I can insert the pen into the charging slot incorrectly and it won't charge. The Slim Pen flips to the correct charging side when you drop it in the charging slot so it will always charge.
