Nice build quality and excellent performance. I paired it with a Samsung computer with Thunderbolt 4. This is for my work from home set up. Because it is branded as a Microsoft Surface docking station one may assume it can only be paired with a Microsoft Surface computer, this is untrue. If it has the connection types, you want or need I wouldn't hesitate to buy it as long as you have a computer using Thunderbolt.

With multiple USB 3, Gigabit Ethernet, and 2 USBC monitor ports this dock has most of what people need for a WFH setup. The Surface dock comes with the ability to have 96w PD to charge most USBC powered laptops.Thunderbolt 4 comes with some nifty features but the most useful feature is when using a USBC monitor. You can daisy chain USBC monitors using one cable. In my normal work set up I have one USBC cable running to my first monitor, then use the secondary USBC port on the monitor to chain to the next in series. This allows for one cable connection limiting the number of wires on your desk.My only gripe is that I still use too many devices with USB A sized connections, meaning I need to also include a USB hub which takes away from the sleek feeling of the dock.

I am mobile, so I have to setup my workstation at various locations. This is much lighter than my previous dock. I use two portable hi-res monitors. It is thunderbolt 4, but compatible with older versions. My portable monitor isn't thunderbolt 4 compatible, but it works perfectly on this.Because the dock can also supply power, I don't have to carry the monitor AC adapters with me. I am able to have a three monitor setup on the road, and I still have an additional type-c USB and two USB 3 ports.This was definitely worth the investment.
The dock itself is high quality and well made; it has plenty of ports to get the job done, but is mysteriously lacking in HDMI ports. I didn't realize that moving to USB-C as the standard eliminated HDMI in the process. For the price of the dock, it would be helpful to have at least one or two.
Solid build, amazing uses and applications. In fact it is the pinnacle of usefulness. The Thunderbolt 4 Dock does all one may require of it & is a definite -must have- with any Surface model. In short- This dock makes computing lessof a total chore and more of a total joy! No regrets! Love it!
Very expensive, doesn't play nicely with non-surface laptops, which is not written on the box. Packaging is paper-based which I like, but is destroyed by the opening process which makes returning the item a no-go. So now I own an expensive thing. I wonder if these comments are moderated?
It does what it advertises but it's really expensive for what is needed. Monitor output design oversight makes it too forward thinking. There are no native HDMI ports like one would assume it to have (because who's gonna think it wouldn't support current mass market tech). So you're left needing to spend additional funds on adapters to connect to a not that old monitor. I could see having one native HDMI port and one USBC port or at least include an adapter for that price.
This device is the only way to run a dual-monitor setup, as far as my knowledge goes. The one I received makes a high pitch noise when I plug it in. Aside from that, it randomly disconnects my two monitors. Overall, I'd say purchase the item but be wary about its downsides.
I had previous versions and they could be probelmatic. Even had to return a new one. Finally they seem to get it to be simply plug and connect. Swapping it out between my surface pro and aurface laptop studio even and it just worked.
