Remove the TurnLock Bushing (11) from the Base Plate. Mark the center of your circle on your stock with big X (lines should be about 2" long). Screw the Center Pivot (6) to the stock with Pivot Screw (7). It has little marks on it which makes it easy to align it with the X mark you made. Put together Circle Guide Head (1), TurnLock Base Plate (8) and Aluminium Beam (3). Connect Large Circle Slide (5) with a Aluminium Beam (3) according to the manual. Place the Large Circle Slide (5) onto Center Pivot (6). Now you can set the desired diameter of your circle using a metric or imperial ruler on the Aluminium Beam (3). This part is tricky though. Large Circle Slide (5) can be mount in two ways onto the Aliminium Beam (3). One position is for diameters of 10 to 42" and the other for larger circles, up to 52". Rulers are useful only for the circles up to 42". If you want to cut bigger circles rulers became irrelevant and you have to use your tape measure to set the distance between inner side of a router bit and Pivot Screw (7). Since plywood sheets are 4 feet wide and many people might want to cut that big circles it would be nice if the Aluminium Beam is a bit longer so there would be no need to change the orientation of the Large Circle Slide and the ruler would remain relevant for circles up to 48" in diameter. At least you can still cut such big circles.All parts are made from good quality plastic or metal and look like will last. It comes well packed in a box covered with photos to give you better idea what is inside. Manual is written in English, Spanish. French and German.I had no problem cutting 4 feet diameter circles from 3/4" thick plywood. To make it easier on my router and router bit I did it in 3 passes though, in each pass cutting just 1/4" deep groove. I would recommend this product to advanced woodworkers and beginners, as long as you have a bit of experience with a router.

If your are just drilling ramdom vertical holes its fine but if you want to put a hole in a precise spot its a clumsey piece if kit. The self centering claim is a joke, it doesn't..... and the drilling a hole in a pipe is functional but more of a gimmick. It's sad that this tool needs redesigning right from the start. When drilling any precision placed hole, the first thing you do is mark it with a 90 degree cross (strangly enough shown in the picture on the outside of the box). That's all well and good if you had something to line it up with on the bed of the drilling jig. 4 simple 90 degree points cast into the bed would have solved this problem as it very difficult to line up the drill bit with the centre, pushing against the strong spring and with the imbalance ... I had a circular hole to cut into a newly installed and finished tongue and groove ceiling. I was worried about the best way to cut a large hole (10 3/4") to install a ceiling speaker. I saw this jig and watched a Youtube video on how to use it. It was so easy to set the appropriate diameter on the easy to use jig. Worked like a charm.

I actually have the 3 in 1 router guide kit model 1221. The biggest difference is the 1221 has a straightedge guide but not the lager scale circle guide. There may be other minor differences.I you don't have one of these kits, get one. My first project, and the reason I got the kit, was a dining room table, 48" round table with two expansion leaves. Big table. Cutting the 48" circle was a breeze, as was the underside dado for the skirt. The straight edge guide in the 1221 came in handy for the 2 expansion leaves and some other straight work on the table. I believe I bought the guide set in 2008. It still works just fine, as does the big ol' B&D router it's attached to most of the time. The availability of inserts from Milescraft is helpful and allows for keeping ... I used one 1/4 inch screw in the leg to define the center point and it was ready to go. The size of the circle need only set once and the tool allows the router to be remove for the next piece to be attached with out resetting the radius size. Shipping and the tool far exceeded my expectations, while not not breaking the bank.The tool lends itself for many router tasks and the base setup allows fast disconnect from the guide for independent use in between circle that need to be cut. CircleGuide worked perfectly. Even adapted to my old DeWalt 624 router after trip to hardware store for correct bolts. Circle guide head came stuck in baseplate which rep said happens very rarely, was able to free with a little encouragement and no damage. Milescraft rep called me back even after 5:00 PM on a Friday. Instruction manual format is tedious necessitating flipping each page rather than continuing down the sheet.

Not real universal. Included base plate did not fit any of my routers bolt patterns. Nor did in clouded screws fit them. Base plate slides around to much. Has to check it after every cut to make sure still centered. Markings are not exact enough. Had to adjust up to 1/2” sometimes to get correct diameter. For all the trouble I have I would have been better off spending the money to make my own also the included base plate I ended up drilling my own holes and coo inter sinking them. The instructions say two screws are enough. That is no true either. More of a waste of time trying to get it to work properly and all the adjustments needed to finally make it work. Not recommended at all
The first thing you do is look at the manual to see what's what. You then hope the hardware was designed better than that mess. It is. The 4-language, keep flipping it over to see tiny print design is bad enough to, hopefully, get someone fired.The hardware is well thought out and works well, at least for the 24" clock face frame I made.I spent the first 20 minutes reworking the pdf version of the manual to make it English only, with larger print.Time well spent.
Needed to cut a circle in 3/4 inch popular for a child's kitchen. Studied options. There were not many tools. This appeared to be the best option. The video is sufficiently detailed on how to setup and use. I did two test cuts and then went very smoothly. Cut the circle in the kitchen and it went perfectly The router bit is sharp.Watch the video. Go slowly. This product will deliver. Really glad that I purchased this product.I don't do reviews often.
