This unit heats up quickly, has a handy LED to enable you to see that soldering job in dark places. excellent for soldering under the dash of vehicles or simply when soldering at the work bench. Oh,,, and its very economical on battery power,, a big plus when using it in remote places.

As far as 12v soldering irons go the Milwaukee one is very fast to reach its maximum heat in a very short period of time. All up its the perfect edition for any one that's trade electrician being auto electrician or 240v sparky . Just a brilliant tool from Milwaukee and repco

I’ve been using these since October 2018. I’m currently on my 7th skin, because they keep dying! Even had one melt and snap in half! Happy with their performance, I use them everyday with the 6Ah batteries, but lucky they have a 5yr warranty, or I’d be pretty annoyed about replacing them so often.
i brought this 12 months ago and about to go onto my third skin, i Dont use it all the often both skins i have used maybe a dozen times and both have suddenly stopped working ( assuming battery has gone flat just to realise that it no longer heats up and just turns off)
Pros: *Super quick to heat up*Runs for ages on 3-6Ah batteries*Pivots for better access, actually very handy*Lightweight for holding in awkward positionsCons: *Very common issues of completely failing, easily claimed on Warranty but still an issue*Warranty doesn't repair them; they just get replaced, but they aren't authorised to just hand out replacements when you actually submit your damaged skin for warranty*Only 2 tips available, which can be limiting for some applicationsI'd like Milwaukee to work on a more durable version, and to offer a trade-in period for people to upgrade. I'd also like a few other tips to be made available just for the sake of it. I wouldn't personally need them, but I'd like to see this skin have wider appeal
I have used butane soldering irons for over 20 years, my biggest problem with them is when you run out of gas in a remote location.Problem solved with the Milwaukee soldering iron.With a adjustable head and fast heating time, I wish they had these years ago.
Great tool when it works, only had 3 months and have already had to replace the skin twice, just stops working. Seems to be a common theme with this tool.
As expected, Milwaukee deliver a great quality product and lives up to all what we've come to expect from this tool company. The solder iron heats up in a matter of seconds, flex head allows easy access in tight spaces, no more cords, no more butane. Warns you if its still hot and I've paired mine with a 4.0Ah battery which makes a sturdy platform for keeping the iron stationary to work with. Couldn't recommend a better product!
Under 2 weeks old used it a dozen or more times was loving how quick, easy and convenient it was and them the plastic holding the metal tip meltedTaken back for warranty claim and it gets sent away and have to wait a find out what the outcome will be its only been a week so far so hopefully have sum news soonFailing so quickly from new and then having to send it for a warranty claim and being without it for however long that process will take isn't leaving me feeling warm and fuzzy about it and the price tag
