Build quality seems better than average and very solidAwesome tool for remodeling. Makes fine cutting wood and plastic beyond easy cuts through old nails and also great for sending those hard to reach places. With all the different blades/tools and perfect compatibility with all brands I have tried. My only beef is that I often have slight issue with connection between the battery and the tool itself. Some times when I'm changing batteries and once I have removed the dead battery and replace it with fully charged, it seems like the electric connection is supsepitol to any dust at all on the battery can at times disrupt conection. Honestly I feel like all battery powered tool will have this issue if used on any big and dusty jobs. Example for me is the diamond impregnated blades can cut or shape pretty much anything but also make a lot of very fine dust. Definitely would still recommend to anyone from professional to diy beginners. This tool can sometimes make very difficult jobs much Easier and with every penny.

Generally speaking, I love my Milwaukee cordless tools. I have over 25 of them total. The only two failures have been my 3/8 impact and 1/2 drill (both used very hard, failure was expected to some degree), but this tool I have only used a few times and here I am in the middle of a door installation and it burned up on me, with no warning. Some of the other tools have thermal switches to shut themselves off if they get too hot, I assumed this would be the same. Not only that, it also melted a chunk out of my 12 AH, $200 battery. I had to pull a few screws out of the tool just to get it off. Now I have to run an hour round trip to get a new one and try to finish this job tonight. Not happy with this tool at all right now. Hoping L&M has the newer model and its a big improvement and the service center will replace both my battery and the tool, so at least I can sell the replacement tool. As you can see from the pictures, this tool hasn't been used much. And the battery was new this spring.

I'm a service Plumber and love Multi-Tools! However the design of this M18 is not usable for me. I have two major problems with it, the on/off switch and the speed control. A less significant complaint is the blade changing set up.Since I often work in confined awkward positions the process of turning on the tool and then trying to to thread it into position while it is running is dangerous and frustrating. Once its into position often times there is no room for me to get my other hand into the work area to adjust the speed. The Dewalt Multi-Tool has the trigger control on/off/speed and is very easy to work one handed. The quick blade change is also a huge plus.I've transitioned most of my cordless tools from Dewalt 20V to the M18 platform but have to keep my ... MoreI'm a service Plumber and love Multi-Tools! I was really expecting to only need the Milwaukee battery system, so I'm pretty disappointed to have to carry more stuff.I'm sure the M18 works well for trim, moulding, and other applications. But, it's a total failure for a service plumber.

I purchased this two weeks to do some repairs around the house and use for some handyman work I do. I didn't want to keep moving a cord around for my other tool especially in a clients home. I found this too be faster than and a older other brand corded tool I had. The only complaint I have it is just as heavy as my corded one. I purchase this with a promotion for a charger and battery so the price was great. I have other M18 Fuel tools and I thought I didn't need to spend the extra money for the fuel version for as much use as it will get. I love that you don't need any tool to change blades. I hope this will last a very long time and I think I will be pulling it out a lot more than I used the corded one.
I have been waiting for this multi tool to die on me so that I can pick up the FUEL version, but it is still going strong after 5+ years of consistent use. This is probably one of the most versatile tools you can have on the job. The tool runs from a low of 11,000 to 18,000 OPM and is controlled by a dial on the side of the tool. Blade changes are tool free and the way blades are designed these days you do not even have to remove the screw that secures the blade in place. It has a built in LED light to illuminate your work area and because this tool will do the work in hard to reach places or tight spots, the LED light is super important. The tool itself gives you great control regardless of the application you are using it for and best of all it has lasted me for ... MoreI have been waiting for this multi tool to die on me so that I can pick up the FUEL version, but it is still going strong after 5+ years of consistent use. The tool itself gives you great control regardless of the application you are using it for and best of all it has lasted me for so many years without breaking down on me or requiring maintenance.Because this tool is so durable, it really comes down to having the right kind of blades. Because I have such a crazy selection of different blades, I can run this tool for so many different applications. Cutting wood or MDF, sanding impossible to reach with any other tool corners, drywall cutting for boxes, scraping and removing adhesives, the list goes on and on. The tool is well balanced and does a good job of minimizing vibrations that might affect the accuracy of your work. You will be shocked at how often you will grab for this tool on a remodeling job.
This is one of those tools that one seldom has in their shop. But once you have one, you wonder how you got by without one. I was introduced to the capabilities when working with a contractor on our home. After he left with his tools, I ran into an issue where I knew that the multitool would be the answer. Since getting it I have found many applications. One was a bit humorous. I had always had the "yellow" tools until my son introduced me to Milwaukee. The yellow tools often come in a nice hard plastic case. When the tools died (batteries), I would keep the box for future use. With the new multitool, I decided to use one of those boxes for storing it and all the attachments. I had always had the "yellow" tools until my son introduced me to Milwaukee. The yellow tools often come in a nice hard plastic case. When the tools died (batteries), I would keep the box for future use. With the new multitool, I decided to use one of those boxes for storing it and all the attachments. The blades are flexible so one can press them flat onto the surface and cleanly removed all of the plastic cast dividers. It made for the perfect case. Relabeled the box with Milwaukee. It is perfect for square cuts into wood, drywall and just about anything you can think of with the right attachment. A very nice addition to my shop!
Great addition to our shop. We've been using this one for removing chassis liners, which are known to be stubborn and thick like rhino liners and line x. Although it wasn't designed for it, it comes in real handy grinding off the top layers. Fast cutting and carving. Another great tool from Milwaukee. I am sure soon we'll have all Milwaukee.
If i could put half a star a would! This thing is a complete waste of money. If you use the cheapo little batteries it lasts for 1 min and with the bigger ones 2 mins at best. It over heats really fast and then just stops. Defiantly for the home owner and NOT a pro. This thing would be better used to cut really hard cheese. Buy the Dewalt waaaay better!
The provided blade is really impressive and cut wood and drywall without issue. The power is insane and one hand operation has been very useful. Would like better power button placement though, maybe a trigger instead. The provided sanding pads don't stay in place either.
Tool works great. The provided battery lasts 15-30 minutes of use on low power (setting 2). Fortunately, it can be used with the same batteries included with Milwaukee drills, saws, etc. Only once did the blade pop off for unknown reasons, the locking mechanism seemed secure and hadn't released. Not a professional grade tool but excellent for hobbyist when using bigger batteries.
