I'm on the fence about this tool. I really wanted the Fuel hammer drill, but the Home Depot didn't have the kit that I wanted, so I settled for the brushless M18 drill and driver combo set instead. I was installing a 1/4" Hardie backer tile underlayment and I figured that I could just set the clutch mechanism to just drive the screws below the board w/o overdriving them. At a setting of 16, it didn't drive them below the surface. At 17, they drove right through the board. I'm going to try to contact Milwaukee about this, but I'm sure the tool is fine but the design of the clutch mechanism just isn't that great. Maybe for drilling or hammer drilling, it will be fine? For a professional tool, I expected more.

Bought to replace a Milwaukee brush design drill that I destroyed by drilling forty 1 1/2 holes through 2 inch oak. Not blaming Milwaukee or the drill I pushed the drill past the limit to get the job done and I think the drill did fine and held up to the abuse well enough. I like the smaller compact design and the power of this drill. The battery life seems better with this drill and the overall quality is on par with all Milwaukee products. No complaints or issues, good value for the tool only price paid if you are already in the Milwaukee ecosystem and own a few m18 batteries. Note to self: For oak and large holes go to the garage and get a bigger drill instead of destroying your cordless.

Great precision

Bought this to replace my aging Store Brand™ drill and couldn't be happier. Even with the small battery it works for a long time and has all the speed and power I need. I coupled it with the Milwaukee drill bits and it has made my hobby projects so much easier.

I might buy another Milwaukee
1 November 2022

one of the two batteries was flashing "Red/Green" in the charger which means it is bad. Right outta the box! Sadly I do not have the means to get back into town to return or exchange this and Milwaukee wants me to mail the stuff back to them with all this paperwork. This was a brand new purchase from an authorized retailer! Plus Milwaukee said you're out of luck on the case bud, it must have been discontinued stock! Now I'm trying to get a new replacement battery and customer service said to click on "Support" then click "E-Services" and it would give me address to send bad battery but instead it says "No record found"!! This is seriously so annoying, so now I am waiting for an email from customer service to figure out what I can do about the battery. UGH!!!

It's a terrible drill/driver
10 July 2021

I recently bought this drill/driver. After only a couple of uses, it started to smoke, got extremely hot, and shut down on me few times. Now It's making a much louder noise.I took It to the Milwaukee service centre and the guy at the desk admitted the noise is louder than normal. Got It back after 10 days, now Milwaukee techs are saying everything is normal and intact, nothing is wrong with it.Came home used again and the same thing has happened.Really bad experience using this tool. Was expecting a quality product from Milwaukee, wouldn't recommend buying it.

M18 Compact Brushless 1/2" Drill power is awesome
29 October 2022

My wife purchased a Black & Decker 20v Cordless drill, while I was away on my 7-day hitch, to install curtain rods. She wasn't able to. When I got home from work, I attempted to install the curtain rods. The B&D drill, with a fully charged battery pack, could not completely drill into the 1st stud. I walked to the Ace hardware near the house & purchased the M18 drill. Once the M18 2.0 AH battery pack was fully charged, I finished drilling the holes in the 1st stud without applying any pressure. I completed drilling the holes into all 3 studs within less than a minute. It would've taken at least 5 minutes using the B&D drill. Yes, the M18 drill is cost a little more than most brands, but it will be the best investment in a drill that you make.

Not thrilled with first Milwaukee purchase
7 August 2022

I researched a long time for cordless power drills before landing on the Milwaukee brand. Seems to be what many pros choose. Always had a corded drill, real nice 1960s heavy duty american-made one, but it was stolen by a contractor we hired and I never saw it again. So I ordered this M18 Cordless Drill and first of all realized it was not as the photo represented on the Home Depot website. It arrived in a hard plastic case instead of the contractors bag still being shown today! BEWARE OF THIS! You'll need a separate case for accessories! Drill works for now with the one good batter but what a bother this was! Maybe I shoulda gone with DeWalt and/or a different store. Sigh.

Powerful quality cordless drill
25 June 2023

Well made heavy duty drill. Compact enough to get into tight spaces, yet powerful enough to drill through hard lumber and not bog down. Pair it with a high capacity battery and although it might be heavier, it will rival nearly any corded power tool. I do construction for a living and prefer Milwaukee tools for the quality, power and variety.

So, being a huge fan of the M18 product line, I have to say, this is a pretty nice drill. I got this for my buddy who just bought a new house (As a housewarming gift).. After inspecting it and attaching a battery and feeling it's performance, I almost didn't want to give it up! I have somewhere around 10, M18 tools, and one M12 tool. So far they've been great workhorses and very well designed. I have one of the older Drills/Impact/Driver drills (M18) and what surprised me about this Drill/Driver is how compact it is. Really nice size, so probably easier to get into tight places. Brushless design allows for more compact look at and feel. Plenty of torque and does the job well, nice it's a 1/2" chuck as well. Great product, high recommend.

This is my ride or die

I use this product since April and I was stuck doing carpentry at (not complaining love working on wood projects). This drill has replaced my main drill that’s been discontinued by another manufacturer and I have not look back ever since I had this drill. And the power on it is 10 times more powerful than my old drill that’s also brushless lol.
