A couple of weeks ago, I purchased the M-18 Sawzall for a project repairing a storm-damaged solar panel install on a remote island in the Mississippi River. The Sawzall is an amazing tool, but it was too hard to handle on a ladder. I kept it but went back and purchased the Hackzall. This is an amazing tool. It is easy to operate one-handed, the angle allows you to push into the cut without a firm position (pressing into the Sawzall on a ladder is more difficult), it has plenty of power and does not bog under load, it leverages the same blades and has similar cutting power to the sawzall. That said, if I was using it to cut mild steel in my shop or was heavy into demolition work, I'd stick with the Sawzall, which is why I kept it.If you are looking for a general ... MoreA couple of weeks ago, I purchased the M-18 Sawzall for a project repairing a storm-damaged solar panel install on a remote island in the Mississippi River. It is a welcome addition to my M-18 collection!

Our old, fluorescent green sawzall was damaged when our home was flooded. This gave me the opportunity to buy another Milwaukee product. After doing some research, I decided the Hackzall would be a better fit for me than a new sawzall. And I was not disappointed. The Hackzall handles brilliantly and is super powerful. Love the moving platform which makes cutting so much easier. I would recommend this Hackzall to anyone!

I bought this as a free tool with purchase of 2 batteries and charger deal at home depot and I've already used the saw about 5 times!!! Had a small area on my stairs I had to cut and this saw did it flawlessly. The trigger is multi speed depending on how hard you pull and it has an adjustable moving guide, match that with the M18 battery and this is the best saw around corded or cordless!!! It uses standard "sawzall" blades and has an led light to help you see where your cutting. My only complaint is the placement of the led because when your halfway through cutting medium the light becomes useless. Could remedy by making a 3 or so light ring like the newer impact wrench has. But even that small issue doesn't detract from a 5 star rating!!!! Best reciprocating saw out there
7 July 2024

I’ve often thought of the battery powered reciprocating saw as a revolution in tools for anyone that works with their hands. Welcome to the new age of ease and practicality of a well built tool, Milwaukee’s Hackzaw is lightweight, perfectly balanced, stout built, compact, and can be used effortlessly with one hand, which if I may say is a Godsend for any plumber, maintenance worker, or electrician who is wanting a dependable addition to their tool bag. I think where it really shines above the rest is when the job takes you to a roof or crawlspace, it’s smaller design allows it to be carried in a small bag or bucket, and is able to fit in small confined spaces, which has never been available with other reciprocating saws. I can’t say enough great things about this tool, you WILL NOT regret this purchase, it is a must have!!

Fantastic Recip Saw
9 December 2023

I've owned it for nearly an year now and I love this tool! It has plenty of power yet is smooth operating and handles very well. Cuts about anything and does it without vibrating your hand off. I wouldn't call it light but it's not so heavy either. It's balanced and ergonomic enòugh for one-handed operation. I get good cutting time with it especially when using the 5AH or 6AH batteries. An excellent tool all the way around.

Great and handy tool from Milwaukee
25 September 2023

A great buy, this is the first Milwaukee I own, after a long research and comparison with other bands and talking with the Home depot staff I go ahead on purchasing this marvellous tool , the lady there recommended the Fuel and Brushless version of the cordless reciprocal saw. It is so light and compact and one hand operation, I tried to hold the demon version at Home Depot just like test driving a EV ! I use it in pruning the high figs tree and the results are amazing. Not that vibration and quick cutting, making the jobs almost effortless, a very great buy this year! I ordered a genuine M18 5.0 XC battery from eBay, as the price at Home Depot is very pricey. Then I purchased an compact and cordless blower (tool only) also Milwaukee using M18 battery to blow away ... MoreA great buy, this is the first Milwaukee I own, after a long research and comparison with other bands and talking with the Home depot staff I go ahead on purchasing this marvellous tool , the lady there recommended the Fuel and Brushless version of the cordless reciprocal saw. Compare to the corded reciprocal saw a blower I used before, the Milwaukee cordless M18 tool are way better! They are great and compact handy tools every DIY enthusiast should own if they can afford the relatively high pricing.

Hackzall the Amazing
6 August 2024

THE MILWUKEE M18 Fuel Hackzall is pretty amazing. If you use the correct blade for your job, it will cut anything and the battery lasts longer than necesary. Unlike old-style sawzalls, t can safely be used one-handed. It is surprisingly light-weight for what it can do. It was my first Milwaukee tool. ALthough I already have 3 battery powered drills, I went back to the store to buy a new Milwaukee drill a few days later. Once you have the battery and charger, the whole world of Milwaukee tools is wide open!

The Hackzall is a well built, versatile, battery operated hand tool. With its one handed operation, I can easily cut conduit, threaded rod, and even unistrut, quickly and safely. I use it weekly to help achieve success on just about every job I perform. Be it electrical work, plumbing, carpentry or fabrication. The Milwaukee Hackzall gets it done! Thank you Milwaukee, for putting out yet another Great Tool!

I've had this for 8-10 years
1 June 2024

Like the title says here, I've had this tool, along with many others for approximately 10 years.I use it often and never lets me down. Most of my batteries are aging as well but still hold a strong charge other than one or two that have utilized their life. Those are likely in the 20 year old life though.I started using the Milwaukee brand a couple decades ago after trying the Orange brand that totally let me down. This brand is the brand I used in all my service vehicles before retiring.

The best cordless sawzall!
31 January 2024

This is a once-in-a-while tool where they have absolutely nailed it. The balance and lack of vibration is phenomenal. I made three cuts in 80 year old 6 inch cast iron pipe the other day, barely used half a battery. trimmed a bunch of tree branches, it is so well balanced, I hold it in my right hand and handle the branches with my left, it's almost like an extension of your arm! Following a cut line is extremely easy. My old Dewalt cordless, after ten or fifteen minutes, my arm is almost numb!
