Several years ago, before Packout, I was using the Dewalt system. I know blasphemy right! Anyway, I was very disappointed with the Dewalt 3 drawer unit I had, it was not suitable for job site use, and didn't last 3 months. This made me very hesitant to purchase the Packout 2 drawer unit until I could see one in person for inspection. To my surprise yesterday I walked into my local tool crib and there it was. This thing is miles ahead of the Dewalt version. I promptly purchased it along with other Milwaukee products, but in my haste I didn't count the number of plastic dividers in the plastic bag. Although I should take some responsibility for lack of understanding what I was purchasing, I was disappointed to see you can only have one drawer divided into organizers. ... MoreSeveral years ago, before Packout, I was using the Dewalt system. The only reason I purchased this was to organize small parts not to use as a drawer to hold power tools. I guess I have such a high level of expectation with the Packout system, because Milwaukee has earned it, I assumed I could divide both drawers. For this reason I am giving them 3 stars. This is a solid unit and well worth the money and would earn 5 stars if the 2nd drawer could be divided. I feel something so simple to exclude was intentional on a financial level leaving us to just figure something out in the field. If I were to purchase a tackle box to organize my tackle I would assume there would be enough dividers to suit my needs. I think Milwaukee missed the mark on this one.

I bought one of these and three of the three-drawer ones and there is only ONE divider PER box (not per drawer, per $150 box - or $170 for the three-drawer). I thought this was a mistake and spoke with my local hardware guy (you know, the ones with the helpful hardware folks, and he said, no, it's not a mistake, that EVERYONE has been complaining about this. I feel like Milwaukee no longer has concern for all of it's longterm customers and now wants me to spend additonal money (a minimum of $60 just on the three-drawers, don't know what the divider costs for the two drawer) on dividers that everyone else includes as PART OF THE SYSTEM, are you KIDDING me Milwaukee?!!! I don't know that I can continue as a customer at this point if this is the way "red" is going to treat us, even moderating my original review! I like the drawers overall, they seem great so far except for this issue, but if this is what its going to be like to be a red customer, I'm not sure I'm feeling all that red anymore (after 15 years of loyalty)

The company I work for bought a whole setup for a service van including 2x 3 drawer and 2x 2 drawer boxes (among all the other Milwaukee pack out system) and each one came with only 1 set of dividers. That’s a real blow to customers. I spent time moving all my equipment and materials to the new setup but couldn’t finish because there wasn’t anywhere for the rest of my material. I’m not dumping loose material in big open drawers. Now we are scrambling to find dividers to complete the changeover.

This is great, & IMO; doesn’t make other Packout “boxes” obsolete at all. Everyone uses their Packout differently and these don’t offer a gasket air/water isn’t seal like the others do; so, don’t think the stuff you have is garbage…because it’s totally NOT.These are nice (& the 3 drawer). I gave it 4/5 stars b/c of 2½ things. First, must buy separators for inside “separately” as only get 1 pack; & depending on how setup, most likely gonna run out. For price (and prices have gone up, since the pre-order and what I bought mine at) shoulda included 2 packs of organizer separators for inside. The 2nd point took off was for sliders and how drawer closes. The 2nd point took off was for sliders and how drawer closes. Can see that will “potentially” have issues over time from constant open/close and putting in “heavy objects” which could lead to misaligned drawers over time….which also goes with this: wish the drawers had a BETTER closing “feel/latch”, and a gasket.Besides those “picky issues”, I’m happy with these drawers. Bought the foam inserts as well, and like that they have precut kaizen available; as speeds up process of cutting yourself, even if saved a bit of money. Know these are sturdy/durable/built tough, as already dropped my 1 “kit” of One 2-drawer (bottom on Packout Dolly, 8410) and One 3-drawer (middle) with Packout tool box on top (8450) ending with low profile organizers on top of the stack. The entire “kit” decided didn’t want to be with me & wanted to go downstairs w/o waiting for the elevator. They decided to jump down 3 flights of stairs at an apartment building complex that were all concrete/metal and landed in concrete slab/walkway. So, my nice new drawers aren’t so nice and shiny anymore, lol, BUT, they still WORK, CLOSE, ALIGNED AS DAY 1 BRAND NEW, and open/close w/o ANY ISSUES! The Milwaukee Red Paint is a bit scuffed, scraped; but no cracks or broken boxes or pieces to ANY of my Packout Containers, the aluminum side bars in drawers are dented in places where hit the steps on way down, and scratched quite a bit, but they didn’t break. The tools inside, were ALL PROTECTED as well, and work just fine! No issues. So, not a tested I had planned, but a good real world test, nonetheless; and passed w/ some cosmetic damage (really bad scrapes on some sides) and some scratched gouges on the top organizers and Dolly; but like said….they all still functional, and nothing is cracked. So, that’s a plus. Time will tell, but that’s all got for now. Oh, the Dolly would be nice if upgraded locking wheels to all lock & w/ diff step on lock (as not fan of current system) and to have the FRONT STEP DOWN BAR to be another actual LOCK, like a parking break; would be happy, and also might if prevented my packouts from rolling down the steps. Yes, my bad for not paying attention, but if coulda locked off wheels all at once by stepping on the bar, maybe woulda been saved, who knows. Ok, hope this helps someone.
This is a great product but it lacks a carrying handle. Now when I have to transport it, I have to hold it like I am carrying a science project. This is a little bit bigger than the large Packout box( I believe that box is the 22" box). The size of the drawers are great for my needs, so far I have been able to fit my orbital sander and 18ga cordless nailer inside of the drawers. Another minor issue is that the drawers only come with 2 long dividers, and these dividers run along the depth of the box, not the width. There are smaller dividers but if you want to have an identical setup for both drawers you will have to go out and get additional dividers. The drawers are well designed so once you close them, they will pretty much stay closed unless you apply some force ... MoreThis is a great product but it lacks a carrying handle. The drawers are well designed so once you close them, they will pretty much stay closed unless you apply some force to it, you have to pull it for them to open. Initially I just thought the only way to secure them was to keep the security bar upright. The security bar can be stowed away under the box. You can push it in if you do not need it which is good. One suggestion, I see Milwaukee offers a Milwaukee Decal on the site. It would be nice to include a starter set of alphanumeric characters or just numbers with each packout. This way you can quickly identify each box by placing a number or word on it. I cutout some letters on my vinyl cutter and it worked well in me being able to quickly identify each box.
I use this product every day at work, it helps keep things organized. The drawers slide smoothly, it's a great product. What I wish were improved: I would really like to see the 2-Drawer or 3-Drawer as a rolling base, as opposed to the standard rolling tool box. If the rolling base were drawers instead of a hinged lid, users would be able to access the contents of the bottom tool box, even if they had several other packouts stacked on it. Users like myself have no less than 1 other packout stacked ontop of the rolling base, it'd be nice if this option for convenience were made available. For that matter, several of my peers have remarked that they would *not* get the Packout system because they don't want to have to take each box off to get to the bottom one. ... MoreI use this product every day at work, it helps keep things organized. I'd get one even though I already have the standard rolling packout.
I have purchased several Milwaukee Packout items there has always been a very high level of quality in both materials, design and workmanship. I have a fairly large collection of tools and tool storage and the packout system is my favorite, it is very versatile and flexible in the way it can be used. The ability to stack and interlock the items together in any order is fantastic. I even used the system to mount a small cooler to my new ebike rack. Milwaukee has produced a really well thought out product.
I was super excited to get the packout 2 drawer on special. When I got home I realized that it's not waterproof! No rubber gasket. I'm able to see inside the drawers. It's unacceptable! I roll around the big box with wheels and thought this would be a good idea to add on top, but if I'm rolling it out in the rain, water will get in since I can see inside the drawers. Good thing I didn't start filling them up. Going right back to the store. Major fail from Milwaukee. Like most of their stuff, overpriced..People make fun of dewalt but at least they thought of weatherproofing.
This packout item is a must for anyone from a hobbyist to a professional. The quality is beyond expectation. There are so many ways to expand and customize this to meet your needs that you could probably open a store dedicated to just that. I am using this for tool storage. I have my eyes on another one with foam inserts to store my professional photography gear. Maybe another one with foam to store my high end meters and calipers. Unfortunately the possibilities are much larger than my bank account!
Milwaukee continues to address the needs of its customers with another wonderful 2-drawer storage tool box. However you mix this into the Packout system, it is just simple and easy to use. I already had the 3-drawer which was great for smaller tools, but I needed to have an organized 2-drawer for my battery drills, batteries and charger. You just can't find a way to fault these Packout options because of their versatility and ruggedness. No doubt there is an investment, but you are guaranteed to be paid back in capability. No matter what job I'm on, if I need my batteries and drills, I easily unclick this from the Packout stack and click it onto my cart making me instantly ready and organized for the job
