Airlines have made me check the bag

But I can only take it on certain flights If I am very careful. The reason is that I did four round trips and was told twice of the flights I had to check the bag. This is not acceptable to me because it's not able to protect sensitive equipment from airline throwers, especially when I was told to hand over the bag from the airplane after boarding and did not have time to repack. It fits under most seats but hangs out too far so there's no room for feet. It's too big to fit in the overhead of average-sized planes (for 1-2 hour flights). Great for larger planes in first class but otherwise I need another solution.I'm the type that doesn't mind repacking ... MoreThis is the bag I grab more than any other in my lineup. Great for larger planes in first class but otherwise I need another solution.I'm the type that doesn't mind repacking bags three or four times per week... right tool for the job. This thing is bulky but light and still pretty strong. Good hardware, zippers, build quality overall. The shaping is a little too big or a little too small. I can fit FX6, monitor, lavs, and accessories but have to break it down. the interior foam padding is cool but somehow the gimbal is always poking out, the apple AirPods Max have to stay out because they would get smashed in a weird/dangerous angle... For me, I'd get a 30L or go a little bigger if I had it over again. 40L is not the sweet spot for my needs but there's no doubt it would work for others so just double-check your needs first and enjoy it. Great quality if it's right for your gear.

I did a lot of research on backpacks and I had a lot of criteria it had to meet. It had to fit my 17? laptop with multiple external hard drives and other accessories, my Sony 200-600 along with other lenses, camera bodies, and accessories, and it has to be able to be a carry-on for travel.I was doubtful I would find something that did all that and have such great protection and quality but I did!The construction of this Thinktank bag is incredible. The material inside and out is very tear resistant and the zippers will last forever. It is also very comfortable to wear on hikes and has so many awesome features I wouldn?t have expected like the extra pocket for a 3 liter hydration pack and the adjustable height for taller people. It?s amazing all around.

Buy it, it's worth what it costs.

I was looking for a backpack that was deep enough and it would allow me to put my camera, lenses, etc. and at the same time some extra equipment (sound card, microphone, cables) as well as some clothes. And this backpack is perfect if you travel a lot because you can have everything in one backpack. Thus avoiding having several bags in hand. It is a strong backpack, it feels comfortable on the shoulders and on the back. It is strong both on the sides and on top so you don't have to worry about putting it on the ground or on a cart with other suitcases. It is much better than all those that you see everywhere with a lot of advertising. I love it.

Good fit for run n gun kit
11 January 2022

I have been through 3 backpacks over the last two years trying to squeeze my main gear into a backpack and this one is the closest so far. I do travel heavy but I dont have it on my back for long durations so this works well. I use an FX6 on the Ronin RS2 with the new Sony-G compact lens in the small pocket (24&50) and the 24-105 and 70-210 for the tripod. Dual handle setup on Ronin via Sony grip on right and SmallRig nato handle on left to give me great stability. I have a power-bank recharge setup for Rode Wireless GOii plus Ronin grip so charging continues between locations. This setup gives me everything I need to get a quick shoot done on the run and leave all batteries charging over night. I have used some dividers from previous bags as a personal choice but ... MoreI have been through 3 backpacks over the last two years trying to squeeze my main gear into a backpack and this one is the closest so far. I have used some dividers from previous bags as a personal choice but the supplied ones can do the same. I think the carry on luggage limit of around 10kg is helpful to keep our backs protected so it forces us to limit what we put on our backs. Good luck with your kits and watch your backs.

Great fit
9 November 2021

I bought the backpack to carry my long telephoto gear. The RF600/4 fits precisely. If it was a half inch longer - I would probably need another bag :) The other stuff is the RF 100-500, the camera itself, both TCs and some minor stuff. Perfect fit for everything and not much space left. I like that tripod can hang at the center of the bag. I like the bag, and my shopping experience with Pictureline.

Huge Bag, Very Comfy
13 June 2022

I bought this for my husband as a birthday gift to hold some of his camera equipment. This bag is huge and fits everything he needs for a shoot. He has been adjusting the straps to make wearing comfier. Compared to his other bag, this one really helps with his back issues. This bag hosts several points of contact making wearing it super comfy. In addition, the bag holds his camera, lenses, and sound equipment so all he needs is to grab and go. The bag is made of sturdy material, so him taking it on the train or to shoots is not an issue. The bag is sturdy enough to protect his equipment wherever he needs to shoot. We are extremely happy with this purchase and recommend to all our videographer friends.Pick up from store was smooth and the employees were very ... MoreI bought this for my husband as a birthday gift to hold some of his camera equipment. Quality larger camera bag.
14 January 2022

I have been looking for a larger bag to carry my 4x5Chamonix camera for a while. This fitted camera three lenses as well as Polaroid back etc.Well made and looks as though will be comfortable carrying gear some distances. Perhaps a few more smaller pockets within the top flap would be nice. But really pleased so far.

Solution for 8x10 Camera
29 October 2018

When you strip the internal compartment of the dividers it allows an excellent solution to carrying an 8x10 camera. I have an 8x10 Richard Ritter camera, while light, doesn't have the slimmest dimensions and this bag handles its width. Given this experience, I can't see how the bag wouldn't handle a Chamonix, Ebony, Dorff, etc. The internal dimensions also allow you to place a divider row above the camera where you can carry 3-4 lenses depending on the size of your glass. So far, so good. Where the bag fails... well, we have a camera and glass but we need film, right? The front pocket is poorly designed and only allows for 3 film holders and its tight. I have an old Lowepro from the 80's that allows you carry at least 5 holders with plenty of room but doesn't ... MoreWhen you strip the internal compartment of the dividers it allows an excellent solution to carrying an 8x10 camera. I have an old Lowepro from the 80's that allows you carry at least 5 holders with plenty of room but doesn't provide the carrying support this bag offers. That's a bit of a fail on MindShift's part. They could have allowed for more material, or a secondary zipper that could allow the pocket to expand. However, with that minor gripe the bag functions well and is a comfortable pack. The internal accessories pockets are rendered useless because as you fill them it makes it very difficult to zipper the bag since this sucker is really just hauling that large format rig.

This bag allows me to put it all in one bag
15 May 2018

I have a F-Stop Loka bag that I really like but could not get everything inside that I wanted to carry.Body, 14mm, 16-35, 24-70, 70-200 f4, 100-400, flash, LED light, lightning trigger, batteries, cards, and all the other misc stuff. Not that I wanted to carry it with me all the time but to have it in one bag, not two.I can always leave stuff in the truck. This bag allows me to put it all in one bag.The only negative is it's not a back open like my F-Stop, oh well, still a great bag.

this is a beast of a bag. make sure you NEED something this BIG. fully packed it is a bear to carry. not comfortable at all full of gear, but NO bag this size would be- camera gear is not light. that being said i think it's THE BEST bag out there if that's what you need. great storage within, and phenomenal cushioning for gear. and easy customization of the compartments. BE AWARE- NEW carry on rules that SOME airlines are following will put this beast of a bag JUST over what's allowed- by an inch or so (i can't recall exactly, you can easily google it). that's not saying any airline will bust chops over an inch but per the old guidelines, this is allowable, and per the new guidelines, it's actually not, so there's always that small risk.
