Mod podge gloss is my favourite brand for clear coating all my art work. Even clear coating stepping stones and painted rocks. Drying time is half hour inbetween coats. I find one good coat is just enough. I have never had to put on couple coats with this product unless your using it for water resistance I recommend couple coats. I do recommend if you are scent sensitive this product might not be for you. The smell you can tell is glue smell but 4 x stronger like school white glue. The product makes perfect glossy look and drys amazing you can barly tell. It applies very easily and smooth. If you are wanting to clear coat a mug from one of your kiddos to give to grandma as a gift I recommend this product to apply on top and it’ll last decades to come for memories. ... MoreMod podge gloss is my favourite brand for clear coating all my art work. Amazing glue for those puzzle pieces that take you long time to put together instead of wrecking it and shoving back in the box. You can take this product and apply on tops and have the puzzle hard work you done that took hours, days, weeks, and months to build you can now frame it as a picture on your walls.

I love this stuff you can use it for so many things- luse it as a finisher for my wood projects, i use it to seal my puzzles after in done, and i use it for scrapbooking weekly. Its long lasting and durable. The scent is like all other glues but doesn't last and wont leave for project smelling in any way. Its fast drying and it sticks like nobody's business. Great for sealing, finishing, and glueing. You can paint it thin or have it thicker by giving multiple coats. I like to add some glitter to make it sparkle. Theres a weather resistant one too plus one thats dishwasher safe! Its easy to use and easy to clean up afterwards. You can use small brush and be precise or use a sponge or brush and slap it on.

Mod Podge is perfect for gluing, sealing or mixing with acrylic paint to give it a gloss finish and make it a bit sturdier. When used on smooth surfaces it can be peeled off when dry, which is something that the user should be aware of. The finish is very slightly translucent, so if you are looking for a crystal clear finish or sealant, there are better options. However, Mod Podge is very flexible and does not crack or chip. The gloss finish is similar to the sheen of a magazine cover. When I want an actual wet look, there is also a Mod Podge high gloss option which is similar to the gloss of a clear plastic or glass. I have used mod podge for applying glitter, sand, making collage, sealant, mixing with primer to seal cracks and much more.

This glaze is so versatile that in order to list all its valuable uses, I would have to compose a review as long as 'War %26 Peace.' First and foremost, it is great to paint over anything made of 'paper,' as it will give it a professional glossy finish. It can also be used to seal in paint on other art projects like paper-clay, air-dry clay, or paper Mache creations. This solution goes on murky and cloudy, sort of like Elmers' Glue, but don't worry because IT WILL DRY COMPLETELY CLEAR - TRANSPARENT, and it will leave you feeling proud of your artistic creation!
Used this for a decoupage project on an old bedside table. Used a small roller to apply to front of drawers on raw wood, and wallpaper as the decoupage pattern. Application was easy and secure. Used 2 different methods: applied modge podge to surface, paper, then immediately top coated with modge podge. Found i couldnt rest face down to bond (for obvious reasons) So changed tactic to apply glue to wood surface, papered, then left face down to dry. Then sealed with top coat of modge podge. Found that edges hadnt completly bonded using 1st method, (as surface wasn't weighted), however, as the glue dried quickly, i turned it surface down once it had air dried and seemed to be ok with an extra coat. Havent been able to test durability as recent project but
I opened the bottle, tried to get the stuff to come out, and after vigorous squeezing, the stuff came out in semi-dried coagulated lumps and very heavy consistency. The bottle was unopened. I have used it before, no problems, came out smoothly of good consistency. But that was the matte and this bottle I bought this time was the glossy. Took it back to Walmart for refund. Would I buy again? Maybe this was just a bad bottle or production run. But I would anticipate the likelihood of having to return it.
Who can find anything Mod Podge can’t do? This is an absolute necessity for anyone doing crafts, art, or just about any project. I love the glossy best, but I’m a super shiny, glittery, attention grabbing maybe even gaudy kind of project girl. Not always but can be depending on project. For me, the more gloss, the more protection. All their products are unbelievably durable. I rely on them more often than I would have expected. I’ve used most of them , never disappointed! During the sale I was able to get a big size at a great deal! Unsure? Try matte first cause you can always go glossy but either way you won’t believe how much you start to depend on Mod Podge for all sorts of things.
Great Product! I have used Mod Podge over the years and have always had good results. I like the finish you get with this gloss texture and I have not had any issues thus far with yellowing or peeling. Sticks well on properly prepared surfaces for decoupage. I have a regular printer and this product does not make the ink run, if you allow the printed material to cure overnight before you decoupage. Drys clear.
Mod Podge, is a product, that "Believe it or No" is argued about ! Vintage use and Competition are some of the reasons, because not all stores supply it in quality Ha. Ha. Mod Podge, though often a "youngsters" craft item; used to glaze " Paper Mache" items and "Paper Collage" , is an accessible product that gives a very "Good" result quite consistently. This product dries quickly and if the contents are what they should be, the Mod Podge, does not smear Ink or Paint or Pen excessively, when applied slowly and with some caution. ( It is non toxic , by the way.) Some of the more expensive finishing products, do actually smear more easily. Maybe, that is because, the spray containers sometimes have alcohol contents which make their spray consistency possible? In use, finishes can be a touchy and problematic purchase for Artists and Crafters alike. Smearing and discoloring is something that some , whom create with the product are attempting to avoid. Mod Podge, does have option products, which create, various colored and textured finishes: Ones such as, Glitter, Sparkle, Sand, Matte, Gloss, Color Tints, Pasto or Paste-y and High Gloss. And they also have some fabric finishing and binding product and textures. None the less, most persons using this product are not looking for it to smear. Michaels, usually carries this product, but it has been out of stock once or twice when I was looking for it. This product is one that was popularly used with "Table top" crafters in the late 1960's and 1970's { Sorry! Is that not PC ie. Politically Correct ,to say?} But, it is from a more innocent crafters era. I use this product and have had it smear some things. It also , if the recipe is not correct, will whiten like a glue, if exposed to excessive damp or water. This does not always happen with Mod Podge, and sometimes it will with stand both the damp and being submerged which surpasses it's cause? I like the scent of Mod Podge and enjoy the texture of it when it is applied. It is moderately clean to use and can be rinsed off, before it is dry, with soap and water. Probably it is a mistake to put it over Oil, Water Color or Acrylic Painting? I do use itwith some types of paint, because, Clear Gesso can be unavailable in bulk or has other difficulty. I also have purchased some other brands of finishing or texturizing materials/ liquid. A few are from, our favorite Art brands, such as Rembrandt, Liquidtex , Winsor & Newton, and Golden . All of these finishes, especially and including "Shellac" have problems as finishes. The oil based finishes probably take longer to dry , and initially have more smear potential. They are sold in what are too small of a size canister which can be expensive for the amount of material purchased? But, Michaels is not a Bulk size shopping mart. The final dried finishes vary and probably are more protective to painted works. I sometimes use paper canvas, which also does not have as much longevity as other canvas material? I do recommend Mod Podge, because I use it quite a bit, but it is good to be cautious. Remember, all those, Collaged, paper boxes and victorian pictures glazed with "Modge Podge", which have not retained imagery or body? Paper jewels made in the 1970's and Paper Roses, most of those crafts have had to be refinished with possibly more archival material finishes? None the less, this product is enjoyable to use and does give immediate and beautiful finishes to almost any surface!
I love the thickness so it doesn't drip yet the smoothness so it spreads over a large area. Dries clear, no bad odor. Many uses. Professional recommendations and several different formulas for every project. The one product I trust and would not try to make my own cheaper. It's worth the price when the end product is worth the effort and cost to do it right. Have been using this for years. So much better than school glue which has it's place and also a million uses. I put products to the test and the crafts I make are always more fun withe the correct products and tools...
