Moleskine notebooks are absolutely the best, hands-down. It's a little hard to articulate why, but I really like the feel of the paper as I write or sketch on it in both pencil and pen, and the little pocket on the back cover can come in handy for storing items that you've torn out to set aside for later viewing. The little ribbon that holds it shut is a great touch that helps me keep everything together (I confess to carrying some loose leafs of paper in the notebook) and I'm a big fan of the hard cover to keep your notebook steady. I've also found it difficult to find pocket-sized notebooks that come anywhere close to the number of pages available, which makes the high price very much worth your while.I favor this plain, unlined notebook in particular because it ... MoreMoleskine notebooks are absolutely the best, hands-down. It sounds crazy, but that little change actually helps me keep in the habit of writing things down in the notebook, which I really enjoy.

It is true, that this is not fountain pen friendly, however if you are a pencil aficionado, this is the "holy grail". I have this small notebook paired with a Pentel Sharp Kerry mechanical pencil. It really is an amazing combination. I use it for a visual journal and while mechanical pencils are my primary tool for this notebook, I often use Prismacolor Verithin colored pencils, Palomino Blackwing, Blackwing 602's and Blackwing Pearls, and various high end drawing pencils in 4B and 6B for writing and illustration in this notebook. The pages erase well with high quality plastic and kneaded erasers as long as care is taken. I also regularly use paper stumps for blending. Generally speaking, most high quality pencils will work perfectly on this paper, provided the ... MoreIt is true, that this is not fountain pen friendly, however if you are a pencil aficionado, this is the "holy grail". This is a great pencil notebook and I highly recommend it.

I use Moleskine journals exclusively//daily and am so happy that Blick always has them in stock. The weight of the paper is perfect for writing, collaging, and doodling making these perfect for multimedia artists or just journaling. I wish Blick offered a wider selection of colors, but this is great!! #sweepstakes

The price is average but the quality is great, it is nicely assembled and glued. The journals lasts for a long time. The paper for the sketchbook is smooth yet soft at the same time, which means that graphite really penetrates into the paper. Inks and fountain pens also work nice on the paper, the ink does not go through unless you add a lot with a brush(in that case buy the watercolor version). The tone is warm white, leaning towards a khaki color which means that if you take it outside it will not hurt or tire your eyes under direct sunlight. Conte and charcoal work really nice but add fixative unless you want your conte or charcoal drawings to smear. Soft Pastel is not recommendable. The price is average, and I did wish Moleskine made one that is 100% cotton. ... MoreThe price is average but the quality is great, it is nicely assembled and glued. Soft Pastel is not recommendable. The price is average, and I did wish Moleskine made one that is 100% cotton. This ones are 25% cotton and the rest is wood pulp acid free paper, which means it will not yellow over time but cotton is better as it can last longer. Perhaps the cotton version would be called Art Journal.
Expensive, but you are getting what you pay for. I will only write in Moleskine Classic Hardbound Notebooks now and I do not regret this decision. Yes, they are pricey. They are well above my pay grade, but you know what? Totally worth it. I would buy them in bulk if I could. You are not just getting a notebook, you are getting a piece of history. Something lives within these pages and it is inspiring to be connected to some of the greatest artists and writers of our time. I am so glad they are in production and I hope they last a thousand years. [Pairs great with Sakura Microns]. #sweepstakes
I love a new Moleskine and every single time I try to go for the cheaper knock offs I regret it. I have to make my way through the whole journal before going back to the Moleskine - which is my punishment for not going for the Original in the first place just to save a couple of bucks! The paper is smooth and often holds up to layers of pen before bleeding through. If you try to erase too much the color of the paper sometimes fades where you erased, so watch that, and over time the elastic band stretches to the point of no return... otherwise, they are just so nice to work in. The best price I have found continues to be BLICK.
Generally I love Moleskine sketchbooks - I own several - however the paper in this one is SO thin that I can't use it for what I had hoped (sketching & drawing). It is near see-through and wrinkles at the touch. I thought I read the descriptions carefully, but the weight of the paper did not stand out to me as different than what I had purchased here before. Even so, I can't imagine any artist purposely wanting to sketch on this paper. The review is for the sketchbook only, not the site. Dick Blick is wonderful and I'll continue buying my art supplies here, but I would not buy this particular moleskine again.
The title says it all. I can't find many hardcover notebooks with blank pages in this form factor. So I had to bite the bullet and buy a Moleskine. I'll be happy with it I'm sure, but that price tag always stings. I like to keep it in my inside jacket pocket with a leather case holding my mechanical pencil and an eraser. It's the perfect little setup for sketching and drawing and notes in my free moments.
I usually use a good pencil to write in these notebooks as the paper is not quite robust enough to receive a medium fountain pen. But they are a great companion notebook when travelling (or just for being at home). This is my seventh. Milligram tend to have the best prices. Keep an eye out for discount offers.
I use this notebook for sketching and drawing, and so far it's been workin' pretty well! The notebook as a whole is super snazzy and looks really nice, and the quality of the notebook is top notch👌🏻! Even if I use sharpies and alcohol based markers it doesn't bleed through onto the next page. The only downside I've noticed so far is how markers sometimes react to the paper. When using too much ink of a mid toned marker, the ink starts to make a dotted pattern, and I can't figure out why. It's not that huge of a problem though, since it's not all that noticeable unless you really focus on the dots.
