I bought this after trying an Ultrawide OLED monitor and this LG monitor is a far better value with an excellent picture.I owned a 49" monitor previously, but it was only 120mhz and ended up not being ideal for gaming. This LG monitor with the lightning fast 240mhz refresh rate is miles above my previous monitor and frankly rivals the OLED I tried. Nice deep colors and better brightness than the OLED.Games are great on the LG and the bonus is the 5120X1440 resolution which also makes it ideal for my productivity work. A really nice all around unit.The curve is pretty extreme (800R), especially since my last 49" screen had a subtle 1800R curve. My office desk is not positioned against a wall so having a solid cable management channel on the stand would have been helpful. For me at least, the codr management clip supplied here is useless and really looks like an afterthought. But I was able to work through my issues using cable ties and clips.All in all I love this monitor and given Microcenter's sale price, I thought it was a solid value. I'm looking forward to several years with this unit. At least until someone makes a 49" OLED with features as strong as this LG.

So, my experience with this game was a square in the middle of the monitor with black on the left and right sides.After finding a list of games that do support 5120 x 1440 resolution, I ended up playing the following: City Skylines 2, Dead Space Remake, Plagues Tale: Requiem, Control, and Hogwarts Legacy. For sim games like City Skylines, the extra space that fills the entire monitor is extra appreciated! You can now plan better, seeing more of the games available resources.For all other action games, playing at a 5120 x 1440 resolution made the game a much more immersive experience. I did have to adjust the settings on my PC, but after making individual adjustments per game, I was very impressed by what the monitor could do with HDR on after HDR calibration. I own a lot of gaming consoles, but with this monitor, I foresee myself spending more time gaming on my PC.Next, I use editing software on my MacBook Pro. I edit photos and videos as part of my side business. This monitor supports both, picture by picture (PBP - windows next to each other, including from a second input source, such as HDMI 2) and picture in picture (PIP - one window from a second input source on top of the main source, such as HDMI 1). Having the extra desktop space, I ran my MacBook Pro in HDMI 2 while I also ran my gaming PC through the display port as the main source. I was able to combine work and play and switch between the two as needed. For editing, sometimes I have to wait for my colleagues to approve or give me feedback on a project. While I wait, I can be playing my game on source 1 and jump back into source 2 without losing a beat. This monitor is essentially 3 monitors in one and can be used as such with a variety of configurations. Even if you aren’t running a second source and you’re just using 1 computer, opening search multiple search engine tabs and dragging them to the edge of the monitor presents you with presets on how to arrange all tabs. This is very useful and it is like having 3 separate screens without the interference of each screen’s bezel.--- APPROVAL ---LG UltraGear is one very impressive monitor that more than satisfies all my needs for recreation, work, and then some! I would recommend this for gaming enthusiasts who are looking for the ultimate immersive experience, for people who work with editing software, or for anyone who always needs extra desktop space! Once you get this monitor, you’ll find it hard to go back to anything less than this experience!

The high refresh rate and low input lag helped me fair a little better when playing against others online.All of the ports are in the back, I prefer this over being on the underside because you can easily see where you’re inputs are and plugging them in is a breeze.Besides gaming the thing I was impressed with was the PBP (picture by picture) and PIP (picture in picture) modes, these are a god sent for someone who likes to use 2 different input devices at once. I absolutely loved the fact that I was able to use my work computer on one side and personal computer on the other, since the screen is so big LG allows you to change the size of the PBP/PIP feature which works incase your machines cant keep up with the UltraGear.The monitor stand is nice and sturdy and can move up/down and tilts a lil bit if you need it. You can also move the monitor sideways to have access to the ports.The Bad:The selection buttons response on the monitor is a bit slow and takes roughly 1 to 2 seconds after you have pushed it.Auto input adjustment (HDMI 1/HDMI 2/DP switching is not perfect, and without a remote you have to do it manually.The monitor at times tends to stay on even if the device that is using it isn’t powered/sleep mode.Overall:The LG UltraGear is a great monitor with tons of gaming features to help improve your game and doubles perfectly for your work life if you have a machine that’s capable of handling it.

There are optional cable management accessories that attach to the monitor that you can use, I used mine, so my cables aren’t all over the place.===========FIRST IMPRESSIONS:One of the first obvious downsides for this monitor is the amount of desk space that this monitor will require. I don’t have a giant desk but after some rearranging, I managed to find a great spot for it with some additional space to spare. Before this monitor, I was using 2 27” monitors so it certainly was a different setup than I am used to. The base is large too so be prepared to make some space for it.The monitor itself has RGB lights on the back which are customizable through the monitor’s settings. The bezels are kept to a minimum which makes everything even more immersive than it already is. The monitor uses a joystick for settings navigation. This is located right under the “UltraGear” logo. While it is nice, sometimes it does get the wrong input which I found was a bit cumbersome. I would’ve liked a remote of some sort, especially at this price range.===========FEATURES:The monitor has several inputs. 2 HDMI ports, one DP port, a USB-B port, 2 USB-A ports, and an AUX located on the underside of the monitor. With a resolution of 5120 x 1440, you will get a great boost of quality if you are coming from a monitor with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The 32:9 aspect ratio provides an excellent amount of screen space for all your needs. As someone in IT, this is great for multitasking purposes. One of my favorite features of this monitor is the PiP/PbP(Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture) modes. This model allows one to run two separate input sources at the same time. I was able to run my computer on one side of the screen and my PS5 on the other, which was enjoyable. There are too many to list but within the monitor’s settings, there are other customizable features for picture and game.===========PERFORMANCE:In terms of performance, this monitor can handle a lot. (assuming you have a beefy PC to go along with it) For those who work from home or are master multitaskers, this is an outstanding monitor for you. I work in IT and am an avid multitasker so having multiple tabs and windows open is always the case for me. With this, I can lay my windows and tabs across the screen to mimic a triple monitor setup. What’s even better is that there are no black bulging bezels between the windows!With PC gaming, this monitor provides some breathtaking visuals for games that support the 5120 x 1440 resolution. Initially, I did notice a lot of my games were loading up with the incorrect or previous resolutions of my old monitors. I was able to quickly adjust these settings within most games. However, there were some games like House of Ashes and Control, that simply did not support this resolution and therefore I had to play the game with bezels on both sides. The games that were supported like Forza Horizon 5 and Destiny 2 provided some immersive visuals that were pleasing to the eye. These games specifically, did have a greater FOV than usual which was neat to see.For console gaming, I used a PS5 to test this monitor out. If you are thinking of getting this monitor just for your gaming consoles, I would reconsider. Unfortunately, modern consoles like the PS5 do not support the 5120 x 1440 resolution of this monitor. The picture will fill up the screen, but it will appear stretched. If you switch the monitor’s settings to the original resolution of the PS5, the picture will appear in the middle with fat bezels on both ends. It looks alright but I wasn’t pleased enough. Through trial and error, the best way I found to play the PS5 on this monitor was to enable PiP/PbP mode and select the third option which outputs the picture to 3/4ths of the screen. The downside to this is that HDR and VRR will be disabled. On the bright side, my brain did eventually ignore the bezels and it did feel that I was gaming on a 30-some-inch monitor. The PS5 for some reason defaults to 4k in PiP mode so quality did not take a hit. (not true 4k because the monitor does not have 4k resolution) In other words, this monitor can be used for a gaming console, but you will need to do some workarounds to optimize your gaming experience.===========CONCLUSION/TLDR:Overall, this is an amazing ultra-wide monitor. LG hit a home run! I would recommend this monitor if you were planning to use it with a computer. Just make sure you have enough desk space! I would not use this for console gaming due to the lack of support for the resolution from the consoles. However, some workarounds will make the picture appear acceptable enough for gaming.If you are a multitasker like me, you will seriously enjoy the real estate that this monitor has to offer. It is like having 3 monitors in one! In terms of PC gaming, the monitor is fully capable of handling a wide array of games at this resolution. I did find some that weren’t supported (games still ran but with bezels on the sides) but I would do your due diligence before making a major investment. But if you are convinced that this one is the right one for you, I would wholeheartedly recommend you try this ultra-wide monitor by LG.

This LG curved 49” solves my need for widescreen gaming and increased work productivity. The one caveat is that your video card will need to be able to handle a 5120x1440 resolution. My gaming rig has an RTX 3080 card that can handle the increased resolution but my older personal macbook and work supplied laptop doesn’t support the 32:9 ratio. You can get around that by running the monitor in Picture-By-Picture (PbP) mode and running dual monitors at 2560x1440 which is essentially splitting the monitor’s native resolution in half but still use all of the 49” screen. Speaking of PbP mode, it also does PiP mode if you want as well.Let’s chat about gaming first as this monitor's first priority is speed. 240hz and 1ms response time is preferred for competitive FPS shooters. The high resolution of 5120x1440 is fantastic and just nearly 88% of the way to full 4k resolution. With my RTX 3080, I’m able to get between 95-120fps at 5120x1440 full resolution on Ultra with the latest Halo Infinite in MP and solo campaign. In the high 60fps with Cyberpunk 2077 on ultra but ray tracing off. Just note that unless you have the latest gen video card, running 5120x1440 resolution is very taxing on your gaming rig that you may need to turn down some of the quality settings to hit your desired FPS. The curved radius of the screen just adds to the immersiveness. Playing at the full 32:9 ratio and 1000R curved radius screen makes me feel like I’m in the game as the monitor nearly goes past my peripheral vision. Cherry on top is that you can have the monitor add a middle crosshair to your screen so you can easily no-scope a sniper rifle in FPS games.In terms of work productivity, this 49” is a game changer. Even though my work laptop doesn’t have the power to run a native 5120x1440, I can run dual monitors in PbP mode to achieve the same result with two screens running 2560x1440. I can have multiple excel spreadsheets, email and a browser open and have room to spare on the screen. To run dual monitors, It does take 2 HDMI cables to pull this off. This is where I wish the monitor had more inputs than the 3 it has. It has 2 HDMI and 1 display port. It’s not widely advertised on LG’s website but LG does offer a free program called “Dual Controller” that you can use one keyboard and mouse to run two computers on the same screen at the same time.In summary, this monitor is a beast and best bang for the buck for the resolution and functions. While it’s no OLED, the DQHD is more than sufficient in color and brightness. The black levels aren’t OLED levels but fine for the price point. At this size, be prepared to turn your head more to view content on the other side of your monitor. You won’t be disappointed in replacing your current dual monitor setup or just enlarging your current one monitor setup. Just make sure your desk can support the 33lb monitor.

MMORPGs and flying/driving simulations are top picks for this display. Once you've had a taste, downgrading feels unthinkable. Seriously unthinkable.
