I ordered 5 scents as a part of the custom sampler from the Montale website and this was my favorite out of the bunch! I was excited at the honey aspect of the fragrance as I love Bee by Ellis Brooklyn but wanted something a little more mature. I got cinnamon. A whole lotta cinnamon and amber. The honey seemed to be buried under the other notes which was a little disappointing. I even asked my mom and my 8 year old sister sister what it smelled like on me when I went to visit and both of them immediately said cinnamon. To be honest the initial spray reminded me of cinnamon gum, which I like the smell of but I don't want to smell like that all day. I was hoping for more honey or vanilla but alas on me it was not meant to be. Do I think it's a bad smell? No. Lasted over 12 hours with only 1 spritz on 3 places on the body, it just wasn't what I hoped. I may try it layered underneath a more vanilla based body lotion and see what happens as right now it's just not for me.

Let’s start off with the packaging, it came in this cool gold shiny box, then inside the fragrance bottle was in a nice Montale bag. The smell is great for fall and winter, the opening can be a bit harsh but after 10 minutes you have a great smelling fragrance with vanilla, oud, and honey!!! The projection is great!!!, last me about 6-8 hours!

Better than expected. Test first, as it's polarizing.

Very strong, use sparingly, in cooler climate. Amazing scent, but not for everybody. Not much compares to this, even clones like Azraq. This should be sampled to be believed.Love it.

Honey Aoud―appropriately named!
22 June 2018

This is one of the first oud-centric perfumes that I ever smelled, and it is the very first I truly enjoyed. This seems to not be one of Montale's better-known perfumes, which is unfortunate. Honey is one of my favorite notes, and it pairs wonderfully with the oud and woody notes. It is warmed nicely by the subtle touch of cinnamon. Those who are wary of patchouli probably need not worry, as it is not prominent here.Montale has a reputation for making long-lasting perfumes with large sillage. This offering is no exception. There is nothing left to be desired here. It is sweet and syrupy, skanky but not filthy. It is warm, yet grounded. It is unusual but not unique or odd. I don't detect a fecal note. I prefer to wear scents like this on warm or hot (but not humid) ... MoreThis is one of the first oud-centric perfumes that I ever smelled, and it is the very first I truly enjoyed. This seems to not be one of Montale's better-known perfumes, which is unfortunate. Honey and spice, and everything nice!
20 August 2020

I'm surprised how spicy this jewel is. I'd expected a more simple, honey sweet vanilla milkshake but it is certainly nothing of the kind. What I do get is a certain Ambre Narguile meets L Lolita Lempicka vibe mainly due to the cinnamon and vanilla. The main difference is the fabulous longevity of Honey Aoud. This sweetie is humming along from morning to night. From spice heaven to the soft vanilla in the late drydown. The only problem I have with Montale is that this house make every other perfume weak och short-lived.

Nice But Not What I Expected, We'll See.
10 November 2023

I have to say I am on the fence with this one. On one hand it is a nice scent but on the other it is not at all what I expected. I don't get honey or oud, I get a smokey burnt sugar that has sort of an incense vibe .I also am not getting the beast mode performance that I always heard of with Montale / Mancera products. Something that I have learned from fragging is that when you are disappointed or surprised by a frag new to you it is a good idea to use 5 ml or so from the bottle and put it on a shelf to macerate for 1 to 3 months. They have a way of changing scent profiles and performance quality. If it still disappoints after that then decide to sell or gift it. The other and better lesson I have learned is to stay with the cheapies since frag pricing is only ... MoreI have to say I am on the fence with this one. The other and better lesson I have learned is to stay with the cheapies since frag pricing is only about marketing. Some great inexpensive houses are Jacques Bogart (many), Remy Latour (cigar series) and Reyane (Insurrection product line). It's just IMO. This Honey Aoud is the most expensive in my collection and I am not impressed overall although to be fair it is a first impression and at least I got a lower price for it on Ebay than I have seen online.

Oh wow! Wormwoody absinthe scent!
4 April 2020

I wasn't expecting that, but I have drunk some a couple days ago and the familiarity is clear. I'm surprised to see cinnamon and not anise listed in the notes. The honey is lovely and sweet but isn't very literal. My partner thought the oud smelled like camphor, but I understand that's normal. After about 20 minutes it's a lovely warm woody sweet scent with some floral notes. The absinthe is still in the background. I do get some cinnamon in the drydown but it's a sweet cinnamon and not a hot cinnamon so it's easy to miss. This has become my spring signature scent and I figured I should say a bit more about why I love it so much. This spring I wanted something quirky and confident and anything but boring. It's delicious without channeling any one identifiable food item. It's complex but never feels muddy.

Simply AMAZING
7 April 2024

Honey Aoud is simply amazing - no other words describe it. My best description is it smells like sweet wood. Its long lasting, with great sillage but never overpowering. You will receive a lot of compliments.

Voluptuous vanilla and friends.
10 July 2023

Voluptuous vanilla and friends.I have been looking for a sophisticated and integrated vanilla fragrance for fifteen years, and I have finally found my ideal vanilla fragrance in Montale’s Honey Aoud.It opens with warm cinnamon, vivid honey, a slightly medicinal oud note, and pale petals. The vanilla arrives after about fifteen minutes and smells deep and rich. The honey and cinnamon play a supporting role to the vanilla from this point onwards. After forty-five minutes the leather, patchouli, and amber arrive. Between them the vanilla takes on slightly animalic, earthy, and resinous tones, which last for up to sixteen hours on my skin.On my skin, longevity is excellent, and projection and sillage are moderate.

Wow, this is intense!

The unsprayed bottle alone can scent a room, no joke! It's thick, rich and sweet, however there's a sharp, menthol like coldness that disturbs that sweet warmth- almost sterilizes it with an alchohol fume sensation. That coldness makes it feel a bit more masculine to me. Up close it's too much (I'm actually getting a headache from it), but the wake you leave is divine. I think this fragrance is a bit like an impressionist painting- it's to be enjoyed from a distance. As I wear perfume for myself, this may take some experimentation in application before I can find a way to enjoy this completely. It was a blind buy at a deep discount which I don't regret yet- I hope I can find a way to wear it that works for me because there are certain facets of this fragrance that I ... MoreThe unsprayed bottle alone can scent a room, no joke! Now I get to bask in that glorious trail without smelling the vaporub note, which, as I suspected, totally works with a man. Absolutely sexy, glorious and perfect! He loves it too, so that was another blind buy win (just not in the way I had expected!).
