Ordered medium size. As a 32 inch waist they fit me very nicely. Good length too - just coming down over the top of my medium-height boots.Wore them for the first time on a boggy hike on a cold and windy day (feels like 0°c). Happy to say they stayed dry through the wet and often waist-high rushes and I didn’t feel the cold on my legs, nor did my legs get hot or sweaty during intense climbs.Well worth the price I paid. They are also very comfortable for general wear around the house or working outside. I powerhosed the patio with them on on a windy day and they kept my legs dry and warm. Bonus!

Have had last pair for maybe 12 years. Still going strong but need second pair. Happy to see concession to reality of carrying stuff with a rear pocket in latest version. Lightweight, but rugged and extremely conmfortable to move in. One note on fit. I'm a 32" waist, but need LARGE not MEDIUM in Montane trousers and shorts. Meium kinda theoretically fit, but waist feels tight and ones parts are little too snugly caressed and displayed. Large might look a little less "fit", but are perfect for comfort.

This new style is a huge downgrade on the previous model - thinner material; poor fit; horrible belt buckle; no longer 3 season trousers; these will not be durable. This is my 3 review and Montane have not published the previous 2 on their website and I've had no response from them.

Still the best general trouser ever made. I use them for rigging and stage work. They last a very long time. My 4th pair in 20 years. My only niggle with this pair is the new belt. It will come loose in the washing machine, and if you are unlucky like me get stuck in the drum. It is not quite long enough, probably a one belt for all sizes thing. The belt loops should be the continuous seemed tube style, as on my 20 year old pair, that just works great. This pair look like they might last another 20 years, even annoying me with the belt! Great product, rare in this world.
These are nice lightweight trousers, which I purchased for a trip to Iceland in Nov 2023.Good: Colour and fit are good. Dry very quickly because they are so light which also makes them very comfortable.Average: Belt is functional but the hooking fixing is not the easiest to use although secure once in place. Belt needs slacking off then tightening each time you put the on, this is tricky because the belt slips on the material. Once you know to pin it with your other hand it's not too bad. They are not that resistant to a very cold wind. You'll definitely need a decent base layer if you expose them to strong cold winds.Poor: Price is too high for lightweight walking trousers. Brand snobbery I suspect.
I’ve had three pairs of these and they are brilliant. For me, I can wear them winter and summer and I don’t think I’ve ever been too cold or too hot. They dry quickly and are very comfy. The only reason to replace them is if you no longer fit them!
I have several pair of this trouser over many years. They are my main go-to trouser for ruggedness if I'm expecting to get "abrasive" in the outdoors. If they get wet they dry out really quickly so you're not walking around feeling heavy with wet & uncomfortable. I wear them casually sometimes too. They're just so easy to wear. Some of the recent improvements to the pockets are a little poorly thought through. The latest version has an inner top access mini pocket which if not used, my fingers get caught in when putting hand in pocket. For all versions though and other manufacturers marks, the men's front zip doesn't extend far enough for ease & comfortable access
These are great trousers for hillwalking all year round. Light, wind proof yet tough fabric that’s fast drying. Minimalist design with only 3 pockets and 2 vent zips. In winter I wear a pair of thermals underneath
These pants are just mind-blowing. The material is very soft, which makes the pants the perfect pants for hiking, mountaineering and heck, even for everyday use.The pants are very classy and you can wear them with almost anything. The pants are totally worth the money!
