It’s a lovely looking bin and the perfect size for my kitchen, however it is poorly constructed. Like so many other reviewers have mentioned, the pedal broke within a week. The lid hinge is also very weak, so it isn’t strong enough to open fully. Considering how many reviewers have complained about the pedal, I’m surprised this product hasn’t been recalled! Very disappointing overall, especially as it’s hard to find a narrow 40L bins like this. Will be returning it.

We bought these bins about a week ago and we're mostly happy with them. We have cats that have developed a habit of bin diving so we needed a more solid bin with a lid that they can't open, and a larger size than the standard 30L plastic ones we had so that we wouldn't have issues with large items or overfilling preventing us from closing the bin. In this, the bin works well and we're happy with it. However, the pedal feels flimsy for the size of the bin; and you have to press it all the way down before you'll get any lid movement.

Fantastic size, slim and good looking but poor quality pedal and dints easily. Had it almost 3 weeks.If I had read the reviews before purchase, I would not have bought it…however since it’s such a good size and we can still open it without the pedal- we’re keeping it. Easy to change liners and we don’t have the issues we had with our old bin. If you can live with that, go ahead and buy it. If it’s a deal breaker for you, then don’t.
Great bin, lovely action, terrible footpedal construction that breaks from being used as a footpedal after a couple of months. The pedal hinge is made of slightly stronger material than a drinks can. Nice bin though so just make sure you keep the receipt taped to the back of the bin itself and take it back when needed - that way you get a new bin every few months. Bonus !
I bought this a couple of months ago. Like others, in the first week the foot pedal came off then a couple of weeks later the lid hinge came off and keeps coming off regularly. For the price I paid, it should've lasted longer than this but it was my fault for not reading the numerous bad reviews. This was one of the more expensive bins, dont buy it!
We've had this bin for maybe 6 months, and first the pedal broke off and left a hard metal lever we had to push to get the lid to open. More recently, the hinge from the lid has also snapped (one side of the plastic snapped off) so the lid is always at an angle. This morning the lid came off altogether.Poor manufacturing quality, would not recommend it.
I have had 3. The 3 one was purchase by mistake. With the first one we thought it was a 1 off case, but all of them were terrible quiality. The pedal stops working after a month or 2. Waste of money
Returned one already and now the second needs to be refunded. Both the original and replacement have weak peddle system which has bent and is now crap. Avoid this bin and any of this design in different sizes it is faulty and can’t handle normal use of your foot to open. It also slams when released. Cheap nasty crap boo. Now I’m on here looking for another bin how ironic. Had to leave this review as I scrolled past.
this really is a piece of junk which is not fit for purpose, the foot pedal keeps breaking off and in general it is badly made. If I had been able to come into the store and viewed it, I would never have bought this. I am hoping to return it but I don't know how to do it. In a non lockdown period I would just take it back to Bunnings but I don't know what to do during lockdown.
