This is a revised review after a years ownershio. The outside of the slow cooker is like very thin tin to the point weve dented it a couple of times just by pushing it against other things. The searing bowl acts as if the base distorts under heat. It sits flat on the cooker but then after a few minutes on the hob it starts spinning. That means I need one hand to hold it steady whilst stirring. As there is no handle, the rim gets very hot as well. I hate the timer. It starts from 4 hours on high and 6 hours on low heat. What we do sometimes is reheat soup or a stew that only needs a couple of hours but we cant do that. It is totally inflexible from that point and goes contra to an important function of the slow cooker. The idea of a slow cooker is to cook slowly at a low heat, this does not cook at a low heat even on the low setting.I was planning to throw out our old slow cooker when this turned up but instead weve kept it and we only use this one for dishes such as stews that we would have put in the oven or that we know well be back in time to eat.

This slow cooker is nothing short of fantastic! The inner pot is incredibly light due to it being made from a lightweight, non stick metal. The one-pot, stovetop to slow cooker feature is a game changer in the kitchen. Its stylish black and rose gold colours make it a lovely addition to the kitchen decor. Functionality-wise, it cooks as well as its heavier ceramic counterparts with the added feature of being able to sear on the cooktop. 10/10 from me!

Absolutely LOVE this slow cooker! It cooks much quicker than my previous ceramic one which seemed to take forever to get going. Cooks a whole chicken in 2 hours (on high) my other took 4-5 hours, this results in a lovely moist bird without it collapsing. Stews and casseroles are faster too but still gives that lovely melty textured meat. Being able to sear the meat in the same pan is a wonderful bonus, although I think a trick has been missed with the pan not being suitable for induction hobs. I was drawn to this product as the metal dish is so much lighter, therefore easier to handle when full. It is also a dream to wash, nothing sticks to it and the surface seems very durable. Looks great in my kitchen too! Just a couple of points to the Morphy Richards ... MoreAbsolutely LOVE this slow cooker! It is missing a keep warm function, have to use the low setting and why aren't the temperatures in sequential order, plays havoc with my OCD!

Replaced my relatively new Sunbeam slow cooker (that had all the bells and whistles but inconsistent hot spots). The Morphy Richards is easy to use. It cooks consistently over the surface of the heating element so I have confidence that the food will actually cook. Its lightweight. I can still sear the meat in the same pan on the cooktop (gas) and then transfer the same bowl to the slowcooker to continue the cooking process. I wish the handles wouldn't heat up whilst using it on the cooktop and trying to stir the food, but its much better than the rubber handles on my Sunbeam that gave off horrible fumes when the machine was operating/searing the meat. So far I'm very happy with this product and that I don't have to continually adjust the settings to get the food to ... MoreReplaced my relatively new Sunbeam slow cooker (that had all the bells and whistles but inconsistent hot spots). Programmable digital timer, all you can do is set the highlowkeep warm and how long to cook. So min 4 hours on high, 6 on low and keeps warm for 2hours after then switches off. I should have read the reviews, I was thinking you could actually set the times, start, length and end. Cooking time is reduced the less thats in it. I made a kilo of stew serves 6 and it was ready in 4 hours so 2 hours before min setting on low and had to put it to keep warm for 2. I also did some steaks with peppered mushroom sauce which was ready in 2.5 3 hours on low.To be honest I think I should have purchased the smaller one but that wouldnt fit a whole chicken etc. A normal one with a timer cube on the wall socket would do the job better, if you are away for most of the day. It looks like I will have to put a timer on the wall socket to switch it off so my dinner wont be over cooked. The sear stew pot is fantastic though. I call it my fast slow cooker. The food has tasted amazing so far
I bought this item believing it would be helpful in making things which require very slow or controlled cooking, for instance a veal stock, where you want to bring the liquid to a barely perceptible simmer and maintain that over a long duration of time.Unfortunately this item does not offer that level of control. It will slow the contents very slowly, perhaps reaching a simmer after a few hours, at which point it will continue heating at the same rate until you have a rolling boil. This is guaranteed to make your food overcooked and tasteless.I have even tried the recipes included in the book, with the exact same quantities, and the result is the same the liquid after a few hours will be boiling rapidly, even on the low setting. For this to be worthy of its price, I ... MoreI bought this item believing it would be helpful in making things which require very slow or controlled cooking, for instance a veal stock, where you want to bring the liquid to a barely perceptible simmer and maintain that over a long duration of time.Unfortunately this item does not offer that level of control. However, this is not the case, the device merely adds heat at a constant rate. The other impact this has is that if you were to decrease the load ie. Put less food in the device it will actually reach a boil even quicker and be more overcooked.
I love this slow cooker. It works really well for my busy lifestyle. some people left comments that they would like it to set to come on later, however, this scares me as you would be leaving raw meat and ingredients at room temperature for hoursI find it easy to set, which I know some people were struggling with. The keep warm function is super. The reason I gave it one less star than the five is the fact the times do not go right down high has a minimum of 2 hours and low a minimum of 4. It does not make a huge difference, but one recipe required low for 3 hours which I could not do. Also, it is on the smaller size than what I am used to it is fine for meals for 24, but for a large family, I would consider a larger size, but this is personal preference. If it needs heated up again, you can simply set the bowl on the top of the hob.
Fantastic buy , colour blends in with my airfryer. Modern looking easy to use . I have had a few slow cooker over the years . Morphy Richards are the best quality for money , easy to use , sear onstove top, then at the end you can pit the slow cooker on high to make your gravy. I have used my cooker 3 - 4 times a week since i bought it in December . I cook for my elderly parents so the meat is so soft for them to eat a great meal. Also in this Aussie summer the slow cooker is no where has hot has putting the oven and stove on ..Just put it all in the slow cooker ..
Pros: Looks good and saves energy. Produces tasty results. Cons: Although mentioned in the details, it was disappointing that the pot was only aluminium, so unable to prepare recipes on an induction hob. A wiinner if you could!
I have had another brand of slow cooker for years. It is past it's best and I had been looking for a new one. I saw this and for the first ( and probably last time) time I put it on my Christmas list- I know what you are thinking, did I really want to get a slow cooker for christmas- if it is this one then yes-" Santa - I really have tried to be good this year!" Thankfully I did get it. I couldn't wait to try out the searing of the meat in the pan and then put it straight in the slow cooker to add everything else. Why has no one thought to do this before? It seared the meat beautifully, I transferred the pan into the slow cooker body and added the vegetables and liquid, set it on medium and left it to it. I am glad I put it on medium as I'd think high would have dried it out a little. The stew was mouthwateringly tender and tasty. The pan eas super easy to clean and the actual slow cooker unit looks stunning in my kitchen. I never thought I would say it but I am so glad I got my slow cooker for christmas. My old slow cooker is now off to the slow cooker graveyard, farewell old friend, you did me proud for 15 years, do not worry, this new one is looking after me well.
