I bought this for a few reasons: (1) I couldn't find my current favorite, Eagle One Superior Nanowax, at the Wal-Mart store that day so I thought I'd try something new, and CMX also says it uses nanotechnology, which I assume is what makes Nanowax so good; (2) I've had good experience with Mother's products in the past - their 3-step pre-wax cleaner, carnauba wax, and paint sealer/glaze regimen is the best, although very time-consuming; (3) It was a choice between this or another ceramic spray coating from ""Hybrid systems"", which I guess is a Turtle Wax spin-off? But that advertised for use on a wet car; the CMX said to use on a wet or dry surface and I figured it would be better to dry first. \n\nThe CMX goes on and buffs off easily; I'd say very much like Nanowax. It rained 5 minutes after I finished applying, and the water definitely beaded up nicely. They tell you it is more effective if you ""stack"" (re-apply) coats (better for your paint and their bottom line too). I re-applied a second coat about a week later (after another wash, which did seem easier from the first coating). CMX definitely leaves the painted surface shiny, feeling smooth and ""protected"" somehow. Is it in my mind or just marketing? I guess we'll see in the long run. This stuff is kind of pricey, but I put 2 full applications on a small car and still have what feels like at least 2/3 of the bottle left, so it's an OK value. Note: I originally applied CMX to a freshly washed car whose only coating had been Eagle One Nanowax about 5 months earlier, so I figured the wax must have been gone and there was no need to remove it. \n\nWe'll see how this compares to Nanowax in the long run (my car's paint is still pretty new so doesn't have a lot of swirls to cover up - Nanowax does a great job with that). Anyway, give CMX a try - I did and I'm very happy with the results so far. \n\n

CMX doesn't have a bunch of rules to follow - get it on black trim - fine! In fact, you can coat your black trim with CMX to give it the same protection as your paint. Drying time is minutes, not hours, although it is recommended to wait 24 hours between coats to allow proper cure time.My only comment about ceramic coatings is they don't seem to offer as much glossy shine as several layers on conventional wax - I assume they don't build up as thick of layers as waxes would to give as much of a wet look.Photos attached of 7 years old midwest weather vehicle that looks, in my opinion, as good as new. Love the results, especially for the minimum amount of effort needed.

I drive a dark blue car, so paint defects stand out. I did rubbing compound, swirl remover, CMX abrasive surface prep, and then the coating itself. You’ll see a lot of reviews claiming it wears off after one wash, but I suspect it was either applied incorrectly or they’re using a soap designed to remove product from the paint. It’s pretty common stuff and is usually used by detailers as the start of paint prep when they plan to put on new product and need a blank canvas. That being said, it’s not permanent. I’ve found that it will last around a month on it’s own. When you apply the product do 2-4 layers. It’s ceramic coat, not wax. Give it 24 hours or so and then clean the car and apply 2-3 more layers. From there just go quickly over the car every time you wash it with 1 more layer and you should be fine. I regularly spend 4 hours on I-20 in my very low car, and despite the additional exposure to road grime I deal with being as lose as I am, I never have a hard time washing the car and maintaining the coating. If you roll up your sleeves and do the work the way it needs to be done then this is an excellent product. Don’t forget that it’s not a professional quality ceramic coating, so it doesn’t produce the same 3 year results. But that said, you’re paying a fraction of the price. 5 stars in my book, and much more easily maintainable than wax. This is quality stuff for it’s price.I can spray my car off with a hose after a dusty night and by the time I get to 60mph the car is dried off and clean again. As a note for the photos, my car is 110k miles and a rebuilt title and the paint looks great with a little elbow grease topped off with this product. 10/10

Fan freaking tastic!!
26 July 2021

After countless internet reviews and YouTube videos, I decided on this Mother's CMX ceramic spray. Glad I did. This stuff is great!! I applied a coating across my whole vehicle. Paint, glass and plastic trim. Waited 20 minutes and buffed it out. Pretty simple. My car shines like new, I put the bottle on my hood and it slid right off. Later on this day it started to rain and I noticed the water bead right off the car. I am psyched to put several more coats on. Recommended at least 24 hours between coats and I will do that. If you want the best ceramic spray, this stuff is awesome! No need to take your vehicle to a high price detailer, coat like a pro, all on your own for less with this great product!

Most effective Si02 product IMO
16 October 2022

I use a lot of different ceramic paint coatings and this product has the most noticeable effects. It hides imperfections quickly and sticks around for months , much longer if you stack it and seal it. Make sure you have finished all the heavy work before this step, it will repel the effectiveness of waxes and compounds. Always do a surface prep before you apply it as well. It locks in your hard reconditioning work. Apply in well ventilated area too.

Moth damage after I stacked the new paint finish?
1 September 2021

I bought this product a week ago to protect the finish on a newly painted trunk containing several layers of clear coat. I followed the directions and 'stacked' several layers of CMX over a number of days. Came out one morning after an evening of high humidity and noticed what appeared to be small trails left on the wet trunk by several small moths walking over the trunk lid he previous evening. I noticed these moths the previous evening before I went to sleep. For some reason a very fine etching in the finish appeared where several of the moths had traveled. A few spots, where it appears the moth's wings became wet and came into full contact with the finish also left indelible marks after I washed off the remnants of what the wing left behind. I will probably be able to polish these markings out with a polisher but was somewhat disappointed in seeing what several small moths ended up doing to the protected finish. I would think this or any other ceramic coating would provide the necessary protection. Maybe central IL just has some pretty acidic moths.

Mother's CMX - Excellent Product
18 July 2022

This is the first time I've tried this product. Typically, I use paste wax on my cars. Since my car is out of the garage 24/7/365 in Central Georgia in the rain and sun, I wanted to try something a bit more durable. After my first application, it rained the next day. The rain beaded right up. It's been a couple of weeks since the first/only application, and I'm still very pleased with Mother's CMX.

Still as good as I remember...
13 June 2022

This is the third time I've used this polish and I am still impressed with the results. I used this 6 months ago on my landcruiser and it was still holding a shine and only needed a wash to getting back to looking good. My car spends 80% of its time in the open, making Mothers ceramic polish all the more impressive. Its easy to apply than waxing and keeps the cruiser looking great for a lot longer. I will keep on using this untill I find something better. Recommend to anyone wanting to get a premium finish on their vehicle.

We also coat our vinyl wraps & boy oh boy has that transformed our guarantees on life, longevity & easy to clean - totally helped that part of our game big time as print laminated just can’t cop our Aussie sun & roofs & bonnets just faded in under 2 years even with the best 3M or Avery films, not no more.....So..... this brings us to CMX....and Wow, this stuff if the real deal. An unbelievable product Mother’s have dropped & is still quite the little secret now ( May 2019). If you are after a cheap OTC Ceramic coat & cant afford the pro syrups we use for $800-2K then I have to say this stuff will be just fine, it looks exactly like a pro finish initially, beads the same, toughens the surface the same which blows my mind & just is a product that works .We use this as standard at the end of every wrap & detail we do now if a client does not want the pro stuff installed . We explain the benefits & pros & cons ( not many) of each. But every car we do now, wrap, signage or detail gets a few sprays as part of our process now & the feedback is amazing. Also, maybe 10 sprays max. will do a whole car.... so do the math.It won’t last as long as the pro stuff , but you can stack it- we have done one coat a week on our work vans for 4 weeks & I tell ya- it’s as good as the pro gear. Time will tell , but if you are after serious gloss, beading & UV protection for your daily driver or show car. This product cannot be beaten, unbelievable. Meguiars have a ceramic spray, but it does not stand or is anything like this Mother’s spray ceramic- Beleive us we have tested them good and proper. Throw away all your spray wax, quick detailers, super detailers, even waxes & sealants. The game is over , this CMX is all you need along with your 2 or 3 bucket wash. The wash aisle now should just have buckets, wash soap, drying towels & this.Amazing....

Best stuff I have used in my life and I have tried them all!! For great results use 2 micro fiber towels. Spray lightly on surface of the car doing 1 panel at a time, then wipe off with the first towel. Then using second micro fiber towel wipe surface to get a brilliant sheen. You don't have to rub hard, just lightly wipe and it is a clear mist that comes off very easily. I have used so many products over the years for black cars that my head would spin. This stuff by far is the best and easiest to apply and has the deepest gloss I have ever seen on my 4 cars and they are all show cars and each have won dozens of show trophys and one is a national 2020 classic parts catalog cover car . My boss just bought a 2019 Shelby and sent it out to have it Ceramic coated, I can tell you that the shine and gloss from this product matches the depth and reflective properties from his $900 professional Ceramic job. Usually on a black car when you look at it in the sun it is not really black but has a somewhat brownish/muddy tinge in the paint. This stuff made my cars look as black as pictures you see from deep space and the reflection looked a mile deep and you could literally fall into it. It is also the most slippery substance I have ever seen for a paint job as my car cover is hard to put on now as it keeps sliding off in every direction as I try to get it on the car. All of the minor scratches disappear too!! I have been using old bottles of Turtle Wax Armor Plate Teflon spray that I had for years and couldn't find anymore since it was discontinued and have been going crazy looking for something as a replacement for that that would be close to having the same shine on my cars and ease of application. I have never written a review for any product before, but because this blew my expectations away I felt I had to let people know about this and it looks just as good as my friends big dollar Ceramic job. I have now found my final spray detailer for my black show cars.
