I always change my own oil, it is more reliable. I have a GSA and this oil works best as it is designed for and does make shifting smoother. The cost is a no brainer, its your engines lifeblood.

I own a 2011 BMW R1200 GSA, which has the legendary 1190 cc oil-cooled engine. In case you don't know, this bike (new) costs hecka money. I am *not* gonna skimp on engine oil anyway, and given that the oil has to cool the engine (at least somewhat) as well as lubricate it, I'm going for the best oil I can find.So when every motorcycle shop, mechanic, and pundit I know swears by Motorex Boxer 4T, I'm not gonna argue.Yes, it's expensive, but it's *bang for the buck* that counts, and on that score it's *cheap*.
Pricey but it is going into the heart of your machine. My bike actually felt faster. It is quieter.

On my 2nd oil change with this oil. The oil meets the specs, better priced than BMW oil, it does the job.
Motorex is more expensive than other engine oils, for a good reason: it has exceptional reliability and quality. I use it for my BMW R1200GS Adventure, and so does everyone else I know who rides a Boxer!
This high quality oil , although not inexpensive, provides superior performance for hot weather /high temperature operation on air cooled boxer motors. I believe the added protection of a superior quality motor oil is essential in the protection of (especially) older motors with higher milage . I know that I am providing the best protection available for My 1985 BMW r-80 RT, and have felt the performance increases over other synthetic motor oils.
