I bought this phone as a replacement for my old LG. It wasn't my 1st choice but I couldn't get the one I really wanted. But on reflection I think I've got a better deal. This phone is fantastic. Takes a MicroSD memory card and is dual SIM capable. It was supplied unlocked so worked straight away with my SKY Mobile SIM. The battery lasts for ages; it needed a top up when I got it and I've charged it once since then. My old LG would have been charged 3 times by now. It's also a step up in terms of screen size; a real bonus as I get older. I would really recommend this phone.

So far I have found it to be a great phone. The big battery means it takes a while to charge fully but once charged the battery life is very good. The display is good and clear, response times good and has everything I need. I'm a frugal person and buy a phone like this outright so I can have a SIM only contract. A SIM only contract means that the phone will pay for itself inside six months as opposed to paying for a phone-included contract. My previous phone, a Moto G6, lasted over four years before the battery life became unacceptable, saving me a significant amount of money. I like the fingerprint reader being on the back of the phone, makes unlocking easy. The only thing missing is photo-unlock, which my previous Moto had. I tried using a third party app for ... This is a quality product which has all the functions that I need. It has a generous size screen which displays text in great detail. The colours are amazing and vibrant. The touch screen is very responsive and all the functions work as expected. Although I have not used the camera extensively, the few photos that I have taken are of exceptional quality and the camera works well and is intuitive to use. Compared to my Samsung Galaxy S10 plus which is my main phone, this Motorola is very good value for money and great backup phone to use. The fact that it takes 2 sim cards and a SD card was a pleasant surprise and a useful feature which I have started to use.

I purchased this Motorola G8 Power Lite as an upgrade from my Hauwei Honor 9 Lite and couldn't be happier. I have always thought Hauwei were good value especially their Honor range, but this offering from Motorola surpasses them now. Now all new Hauwei models do not support Google services I was concerned so felt the need to switch to an android phone that did. After exhaustive research into budget ranges I narrowed it down to two models. This was based on features and battery life, the two models were Samsung's A21s and this Motorola G8 Power Lite. Because I was making my purchase from Very I had to opt for the Motorola, as they did not sell the A21s only the A21. So in a way this helped my decision as I was torn between the two. The phone arrived as scheduled and John Lewis are good at this I have found. My phone is very smart and I like the blue back. I like that it came with a case on the back. I have since bought a screen protector for the front. The phone is good overall. I have experienced a very small amount of calls 'dropping' as soon as you dial them, which is frustrating, but I got the same with my other budget phones (a Samsung A20E and the Vodafone Smart X9. I am on the Vodafone network). The Apps are not easy to store on the screen and you have to open them from Playstore unlike on my Vodafone handsets which allow you to place Apps all over the screen very easily. I have come to accept this as my Samsung A20E is the same. It's better for privacy I suppose, as well as other ... MoreThe phone arrived as scheduled and John Lewis are good at this I have found. I like the ringtone and the wallpapers, even though there's not much of a choice. I like the look of the phone and this is a bigger screen than average which is good for internet viewing. I like that this phone has double the storage of the other handsets I've had - 64 I think? It was really easy to move all my information over from my Vodafone handset, which was all done on Google with good instructions from Motorola on screen. However some of my information was left behind because it was stored on my previous handset rather than Google or Sim card (I think). The camera is good. The battery life seems good but I haven't really put it to the test yet. I am pleased I bought this phone. I was originally going to buy a Huawei or Honor phone but updates on those won't be supported after a certain date so not a good idea. I saw that the reviews on this phone were very good in a technical magazine.
I absolutely love this phone. I have had Apple and Android phones in the past but there is just something loveable about the Moto G8. Good points: its easy to use, switch it on and follow the helpful instructions/hints. No experience necessary- just like Apple used to be. Nice clean screen, small or large print Great photos and it doesnt break when I drop it! if you are not running a lot of apps it does have a 3 day battery life, obviously the more apps and programs you put on it the battery life reduces but it's still better than most phones. Its got huge storage space so I can just add as many apps as i want. negative: It is a little on the heavy side but this is also a good thing as you can use it as a weapon :) Otherwise i have nothing negative to say about it. ... In short I would 100% recommend this phone it has everything I want: Good battery, easy to use, good quality photos, lots of memory space so you can add apps and durable plus I love the colour.
Previously owned Moto mobile phones from when the range was first introduced. Never had any problems with their performance or quality. This one, although a "budget" device is no exception. In spite of a low end processor, it does operate very well. Bought as a second, reserve phone but depending on requirements there's no reason not to buy this as a main device. The specification is reflected in the price though. Only 4Gb RAM and 64Gb ROM, expandable with a micro s.d. card, if necessary. Only a 720p screen but clear and bright with very good colours. No 5GHz wifi. One reviewer commented that their's only had capacity for one nano sim and a s.d. card or 2 nano sims without s.d. card. The phone I received will accept 2 nano sims and a s.d. card, strange! Terrible ... MorePreviously owned Moto mobile phones from when the range was first introduced. Terrible speaker, vey tinny. A bit on the heavy side, but that must be down to the large capacity battery. Supplied with Android 9 but apparently there could be an update to 10 at some stage. Security patches seem to be up to date. If a fairly basice smart phone is needed from a good manufacturer then don't hesitate at the current prices offered.
I'm fairly disappointed with this phone, although I appreciate that it's a budget phone, so you cant expect miracles. Notifications don't work properly, and therefore it also doesn't work with my fitbit, as if you don't get the notification on the phone, it won't appear on the fitbit. You can't use Google Pay on it, which is a big downfall too. Fingerprint sensor on the back only works about 75% of the time, which is annoying. Camera doesn't always manage to take a picture with the first attempt - it looks & sounds like it has, but when you go to your photos, it's simply not there, which is REALLY annoying, so not a phone for taken spontaneous snaps. The photos that it does manage to take are of a decent quality though. It's also as big as my face, and doesn't fit ... I've gone back to my ancient iphone, and will give this one to my son as a punishment when he inevitably breaks his current phone.
I bought this to replace the same model I had (sadly I'd dropped it about a year ago which caused a single crack then a second drop the other week caused the screen to shatter below that crack). I was able to quickly transfer all apps and software to get up and running again with a phone. Personally I like this model as it's slim and light but not small so you can see everything and type etc without getting cramp! It's easy to set up and find the essentials to call and message whilst you get used to the other possibilities. Great storage size and battery life too.
I know it's cheap, but that doesn't matter if it simply doesn't work as it should, which is the case here. The main issues:Volume control - you can only go up or down in large increments. Why? No other device I've ever used does this. It means that when you connect to a Bluetooth device it's either too quiet or too loud. This alone makes it useless for meGyro (auto screen rotation) - regularly will turn for no reason and get stuck there, needing frantic turning to correctWiFi - poor connection quality with frequent drop outsCamera quality - the worst digital camera I have seen in a modern smartphone. Not only is the image processing crap, in low light it's basically worthless. Plus the app wants you to pay for basic features. What?Updates - regularly need ...
