I both love and hate the bottle. Here's the good, bad, and just meh.Bad, when it first arrived I put it on the charger. It charged for a couple of hours and indicated it was fully charged. So, I took it off the charger and connected it to the bottle and my phone. It worked for a little bit with no issue, but then I noticed it was not lighting when I would take a drink. I had turned on that feature to have peace of mind seeing that it was registering my drinks. I tried putting it back on the charger, and it wouldn't light up to indicate it was charging. I tried pressing the reset button, and it didn't do anything again. No matter what I did the disc would not light up at all. I contacted customer support (which is slow since everything has to go through email - no phone number to call, no instant chat, only slow email communication). They wanted to try the cheapest fix which is completely understandable from a business standpoint, but I felt like they were not listening to my troubleshooting and concerns as they would want me to try things I had already clearly stated in my email that I had tried and didn't work. So, their attempted fix was to send a new charging cable as they thought that might be the problem (I was sure it was the disc). They mailed me a new charging cable, but it took quite a bit for it to send and arrive.Good, while I was waiting for the charging cable to arrive (it hadn't yet) I received a notification on my phone that the battery for the disc was getting low and needed charging. I placed it back on the charger in which to my surprise IT LIT UP! I had about 1.5 days of it actually working intermittently, and then it started working correctly FULL TIME. It is working great! The new charging cable came in the mail a couple of days ago, so I guess I just have a new cable as a backup now. I'm loving it now that it's working correctly.Meh, I think this is just a design flaw that probably can't be helped. Anytime I take my bottle in the car with me it logs me drinking water when I'm not. I guess the bumps in the road swish the water and trigger the sensor to register it as drinks when I'm not even touching my bottle. I've figured out to just turn my Bluetooth off when I get in the car, turn it on when I arrive at my destination, and delete the inaccurate log that it registers immediately. The downside to this is that if I do actually drink anything while driving then it is not registered in my log for the day. However, I don't drink much while driving, so I figure it's a small loss in my log that I'm not going to stress over it.

I've been using the HidrateSpark Steel bottle for a couple of weeks now. Was not very impressed the first couple of days until I figured out some things. For the reviews that talk about it not connecting properly, I thought that's what mine was doing too, but I quickly discovered (because of the same issue with other things I use) that if I CLOSE the app after each use, when I go to open the app again, it automatically connects to the bottle without incident. The only other thing I would like to see changed is that the battery would "snap" into the bottom of the bottle. I have the "chug" style top & if the spout isn't pointing the right way, I have a bad habit of turning the bottle on the counter before picking it up & the battery falls out. The bottle has trained me to usually pick the bottle up & then turn it, but I don't think the battery should come out that easily.I feel like the tracking of my water intake is pretty accurate, even though I use ice cubes in the bottle. Keeps my water cold for a good length of time. I like to keep it on my nightstand so I can have a drink during the night & the water is still cold when I wake up in the morning. The bottle itself is of good quality & feels sturdy in your hand (I purchased the 21 oz. bottle). The spout gives a good amount of water for "chugging". The pieces are made so they can easily be kept clean & my first battery charge lasted about 15 days. Overall I'm really pleased with this purchase & would recommend for anyone wanting to track their water intake.

I was very excited about this product when I first learned about it. I often times forget to drink water throughout the day, so this seemed like a tool that would really help encourage me to do so.Unfortunately, there were just too many things about the bottle that made me not want to use it. First - driving. I put the bottle in the cupholder of my car and commuted into work - maybe a 15 minute drive. When I got to work, the Hidrate app told me that I had drank 887 oz of water! The kicker - there's no way to mass delete entries, so if I wanted to correct it, I would have to go in and delete about 200 entries of "1.5 oz" water consumed. No thanks.Second: the lights. Nothing is more embarrassing than sitting in a meeting when your water bottle starts to blast multi-colored LEDs for 10 seconds, everyone looks at you, and you fumble with your phone to turn on the "snooze" feature.Third - the bottle design itself. Every water bottle I've owned prior has one-handed functionality. I can pick up the bottle, push a button, and the spring-loaded top opens. This bottle requires two hands, and the mouthpiece is rectangular, which is a weird shape for a straw-design water bottle. Additionally, it uses a proprietary charger that you will inevitably misplace. Just make it USB-C!I used this for maybe a week or two, and now it sits in the back of the cupboard, where it shall remain until garage sale day. Back to my Owala.

I'll start with the negatives.1. My app showed the battery at over 50% then the bottle flashed red and wouldn't connect. Showing the percentage would be far better.2. Not sure why they didn't go with a usbc charger, also don't know what the green flashing means while charging or when the puck if fully charged unless I connect it to my phone. You'd think that with the LED's it would flash red when super low, yellow while charging and green when fully charged.3. I've had the bottle flash while filling it up which now makes me feel like I've got to be super quick with fill ups so I don't have to recalibrate it. I'm constantly reclibrating it just to make sure it's as accurate as possible. This could very well be user error and perhaps I should read up more to make ... MoreI'll start with the negatives.1. I'm constantly reclibrating it just to make sure it's as accurate as possible. This could very well be user error and perhaps I should read up more to make sure I understand how to fill it up.4. I thought the plastic around the puck was going to be rubber material to protect against falls, come to find out it's a hard plastic. I don't know the durability of the plastic or the puck so I'm suuuper cautious with my $80 bottle.5. I'm super cautious with cleaning the bottle because I don't want to get water in the compartment where the puck plugs into. Not a huge issue, a simple YouTube video on best way to clean would solve this. Now for the positives.1. I've been on the Hidrate bandwagon since version 1 and despite the flaws (which there were many) love the idea and the product enough to stick with it. With Steel they've improved on everything!2. Sweating was an issue with the original and I presume the next gen as well.... Not with Steel!3. Connectivity issues were super annoying with the original. I was on the Android app using a OnePlus 2, Oneplus 5, and Oneplus 7t with the original.... Not with Steel!4. Buying and Changing the batteries on the original was super annoying and raised the cost of my bottle each time I had to buy new batteries. Unscrewing the sensor stick to get to the batteries became increasingly difficult each time to the point that I couldn't even unscrew, which coincidentally was around the time I got an email from Hidrate that I could pre-order Steel! It was also nerve racking because there was a possibility of not getting a proper seal and getting water in the battery compartment..... Not with Steel!5. The original bottle fell from a bench and cracked the lid which I had to replace. Also the pin from the original lid had fallen out a couple time which I had to fix... Not with Steel! I absolutely love the new straw lid! The build quality seems way more durable as well as the strap which I had broken on the original lid.All in all I'm super happy with my new bottle and am proud to have been an early adopter to see where the company has come! Great job guys and I very much look forward to the next iteration!
I’ve had HidrateSpark bottles for few years. The plastic ones didn’t last very long but I bought the metal one with the sensor on the bottom a while back and that one seems to be lasting and working fine.So I decided to buy another one. This one has the straw in it.First, the straw could be another half inch longer as it always leaves about an ounce of liquid at the bottom. No big deal, just unscrew the whole cap to finish it off. However, this bottle seems to be registering far more liquid consumed than actually happening, at times I KNOW, I was not drinking. Also, it registers more liquid consumed than it can contain.I find myself recalibrating this bottle a lot and adjusting the ounces consumed in the app history.I also hope developers will work on ... MoreI’ve had HidrateSpark bottles for few years. Also, it registers more liquid consumed than it can contain.I find myself recalibrating this bottle a lot and adjusting the ounces consumed in the app history.I also hope developers will work on redesigning the sensor so that the bottle is not as wobbly. Right now it really tips and topples easily at the slightest unevenness in the surface.Having said that, I love the idea of tracking drinking and the reminders and how it adjusts to the amounts needed daily. I don’t know if it looks at activity or temperatures but it is really a smart bottle. The new version (June 15) of the app is great too. Love all the improvements, though it got a bit more complex.
This is my second HidrateSpark water bottle, my first was the HidrateSpark 3 and now I have the HidrateSpark Steel. So far, I am having a sort of love-hate relationship with it. The most problematic thing is that the newer Hidrate Steel’s rechargeable bottom cap piece keeps pooping off on its own every time it’s set down or twisted in any kind of way(due to it not having a locking mechanism). And since that is the part that glows, charges, measures, etc., then losing it would make the bottle completely useless! Also, the little hanging holding strap is sewn on to the bottle, and very small to grip. And since it’s non-removable it keeps getting caught inside of the top of the cap; constantly stopping it from closing! Also, the straw top does not open on its own once ... MoreThis is my second HidrateSpark water bottle, my first was the HidrateSpark 3 and now I have the HidrateSpark Steel. And since it’s non-removable it keeps getting caught inside of the top of the cap; constantly stopping it from closing! Also, the straw top does not open on its own once popped, so you have to physically push it open further. The only problem with that is that if you do not have the straw pushed back to the absolute max, even by a bit, it will not let water flow. (But I also bought the chug cap as a precaution for this problem) Lastly, the charge does not hold for as long as I would like, but being rechargeable is an amazing feature compared to the battery one anyway. Also, only the bottom lights up compared to the entire bottle of my Spark3, and it’s a feature I do kind of miss. The upside though is that since it does not have the bar in the inside like the old one, then you have more options to fill it with whatever you like. And the steel stays cold for quite a time, and also holds more water so that is nice!
I had and have the HidrateSpark PRO 21oz stainless steel water bottle. I also paid the $5 for the upgrade in the app to play with color. I was disappointed because you can only pick two colors to play with. I really liked the rainbow though. Unfortunately I rarely saw it so I let it do up to 12 reminders at medium, but still very few light up reminders, and I was behind. I did light when I pressed the glow button or when I met my goal. On day 3 or 4 I turned on the glow when you drink just so I could see it light up, but I shut it back off. On day six, it totally quit there were no readings and no lights. I’d read that the bottle should last 10+ days, but mine only made it 5 1/2 days. I put it on the charger and nothing. I’d read that the bottle should last 10+ days, but mine only made it 5 1/2 days. I put it on the charger and nothing. I flipped the connector around thinking I didn’t have it one right and the next day it was still dead. I exchanged the bottle, assuming it was defective and that’s why I had issues.Bottle number 2 arrives, yeah!! Excited to get going and using it again. First three days were so so. I saw the lights a couple of times (I was staying just ahead of my goal), but when it did light up it wasn’t the patterned I’d picked. I checked the app and it was selected, but it was using that pattern. I played around with the light options and ended up getting an “award” for trying out multiple options. Unfortunately it still isn’t using the one I picked consistently.Day 4, I was behind all day but have yet to see it light up. Now I understand I could miss it, but I’m a teacher with 19 kids who never miss a thing. That bottle was in my hand or beside me all day, but no one saw it light up. (I checked the bottle still has a charge and will light with the glow button.) So I’m disappointed after speeding a large amount for a bottle that is frustrating me more than motivating me.My other surprise, and disappointment is how tipsy these bottles are. They are designed tall and skinny and the rubber dial on the bottom doesn’t make for a stable surface. I watched a basic fan in my classroom rock my full bottle of water on my table. In the car it’s much smaller than a normal cup holder so it rocks around as you drive, which is also annoying. I had high hopes because I was a returning customer, after a few years and had a good experience with my original bottle. (That was one of their original bottles and used an actual battery, gasp LoL! So it’s been a little awhile since then.) I used that one for several years and loved it. The lights did there thing. The bottle was stable and I used it daily for years. However it was a plastic one so after years it didn’t look the best. I decided didn’t want to spend the big bucks, because I work in a non air conditioned school and I wanted something that I could put ice in to have cold water. That was why when I came across the HydrateSpark site and read about the options, I was excited, but sadly they don’t make them “quality wise” the way they use too.
I have had several generations of Hidrate bottles. Overall, I think some great improvements were made for this bottle, and there were a few missteps.I chose the steel (unpainted) version because I was elated that more of the bottle could go in the dishwasher that way. This was a HUGE improvement for my family, especially in this era of needing things to get "really clean."I like how the water stays cool for longer and that I could add ice if I wanted, although I haven't wanted to or needed to yet. Just using cold water works well for me as it retains that temperature until I have consumed all the water and need a refill.I like that the lid has a lock, but I don't like how close that lock gets to my lips when I'm drinking - part of why I want a "button" operated ... MoreI have had several generations of Hidrate bottles. I hope it keeps working well over time. What I don't like about it is that it makes the water bottle slightly wobbly, even when standing upright on a flat surface. It disappoints me to not have a stable bottle. The bottle fits in car cup holders, but depending on the depth of your cup holders, you will probably have the same problem I have with this bottle (and past generations) of it being tippy and a little top heavy. In some vehicles, it is too tall to stand upright due to the dash getting in the way. Finally, I like that we had a size choice this time around, but I would probably always get the large size because I don't have time to be in proximity to a bottle filler all that often.
I purchased the HidrateSpark to address my inability to remember to hydrate sufficiently. The key for me was "works with FitBit". I read reviews and even called tech support at FitBit to learn to what extent it functioned with HidateSpark. There wasn't much info except in an Amazon review a user stated "yes, it works with FitBit"I bought a Fitbit Inspire 2 when I purchased my HSProand spent a few weeks concentrating on getting the two programs to work together. What resulted for me was disappointing to the degree I returned my HSPro.My impression is the Hidrate company is a software first enterprise, and that it's rather sophistated interface with FitBit is calculating the exact amount of water required based on exercise. What I was looking for was the "time to ... MoreI purchased the HidrateSpark to address my inability to remember to hydrate sufficiently. After the second Halo I purchased failed to even pair with my phone, I returned it and saw the results of hardwarefailing the software.Google has just released the Pixel watch, and early reviews are baffled at the lack of FitBit features from the company that owns FitBit, and has been hyping it's Fitbit integration. I've owned three different Pixel phones and a whole array of Nest products and havelost confidence in Googles hardware efforts.I have a Samsung Galaxy Frontier S3 and a Samsung Galaxy Classic S4 and both watches have exceeded expectations. They allow and encourage 3rd party apps and so may be the most promising partner product for Hidrate to send out "time to drink" notifications.Hidrate's app is through and beautifully realized. Their customer service has instant response and is A+ rated. The sleek bottle not only alerts when to drink but senses how much was consumed and keeps track in the app, very accomplished. For me being able to successfully send alerts to a wearable is a 'last mile" kind of implementation I'm rooting for Hidrate to solve, and I'll be first in line when it is announced.
I absolutely love my Hydrate! I have had one of my own for quite some time now and recently bought one for my 10 year old son. One thing I would recommend is although you can add more than one bottle to the app, it’s pretty useless because unless my son tells me every time he sips an ounce (which would be an approximation unless he wrote down each time he finished a bottle, eliminating the entire point and essentially the bottle’s function) we can’t both keep track together. Only one hydrate can be connected to the app. This was disappointing, as he doesn’t have a cell phone or device we’d want to have the app connected to. There was a lot of excitement to track our intake and set our goals together, subsequently much disappointment when we could not. Also, they are ... MoreI absolutely love my Hydrate! There was a lot of excitement to track our intake and set our goals together, subsequently much disappointment when we could not. Also, they are pretty costly. My father, with many severe health issues is actually out of work and we were visiting recently. He noticed and was quite interested in the hydrate, sharing doctors are constantly on him for not drinking enough water. Later in the week, he called disappointed, as he’d gone online with the intention of purchasing himself one but did not, due to the cost. Other than those two, correctable downsides, happy with these!
