I'm a first-time PC builder so I can't offer much of an option on the hardware as such, but the board seems to work fine, installation of all components went OK. It all works. What I DON'T like is the MSI website and customer interface. It demands a ton of personal information, including a copy of the purchase invoice just to register the motherboard. The most infuriating part was it wants a three-digit check code, on a tiny sticker on the side of a power port on the MB, of course, already installed in the tower and nearly impossible to read. I had to use my camera phone to get a picture because I couldn't fit my head inside the computer case to see the number. And they had to know it was their motherboard because MSI read the serial number and filled in it ... MoreI'm a first-time PC builder so I can't offer much of an option on the hardware as such, but the board seems to work fine, installation of all components went OK. My SSD only seems to work in one of the two M.2 slots on the board. I want to ask if this was a feature or a bug. Again, fill out a ton of information, even though they had all the information from my registration/customer membership. Then, when I click on the SUBMIT button, it did nothing. HA HA jokes on me. Thanks, MSI. Next time I'll try ASUS or Gigabyte just so I won't have to deal with your time-wasting online customer service.

The chipset fan whines more than I'd like. When I don't have headphones on, there's a constant, noticeable medium-pitched hum that I can hear from all the way across the room even when the case is closed. It's louder than any of the other fans in my rig. It runs at 5600 rpm!! I called MSI to ask for advice and they said this was standard. Very frustrating, but I'm making do.Otherwise, this mobo does everything it needs to and is compatible with the rest of my build. It's relatively affordable and has a lot of flexibility if I want to make upgrades with my build. I wear headphones and the sound drowns out the humming, so it's fine and I'm making it work. But honestly I'm pretty disappointed.

Everything looked great, the board ran really smoothly too. Awesome BIOS, booted quickly, I was very happy...until I tried plugging in a pair of headphones. After an hour with MSI support, uninstalling and installing drivers, we determined that the onboard audio was defective. I was disappointed that my new board had issues, but I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning and rebuilding, so I was going to deal with it and get a sound card as a solution. Fast forward 24-48 hours, I leave a discord video call running all night--when I wake up, the PC is completely dead. Won't boot, motherboard not receiving any power at all. I unplugged and replugged everything, changed outlets, even tried different power supplies (which are now both confirmed still working). ... MoreEverything looked great, the board ran really smoothly too. Hopefully none of my other components were damaged by the board as a result. I purchased out of desperation because better boards are out of stock due to human malware and paid a hefty price in time and frustration. Apparently this is a known issue with MSI x570 boards being consistently faulty with bad VRMs/thermals. Save the money and headache down the line by investing more in an ASUS now.

Both Pci-e m.2 slots were defective. Spent almost an hour with MSI tech support. Tried both new Western Digital Black nvme 1 TB solid state hard drives in another computer (both showed up in the bios on two other computers but not on this motherboard), cleared the cmos and started over, changed out power supply, etc. No luck. Finally was told the motherboard is defective. What a waste of money and time.
I can easily recommend this board for 2nd gen (3000 series) CPUs. For the 5000 series it may need some work. I loaded the most recent stable bios from MSI onto a regular usb 2.0 thumb drive. Put it in the designated slot pressed the flash bios button and prayed. After few seconds the rest of the board lit up and after about 5 minutes it rebooted and it posted properly. A word of caution. I originally used a Noctua dh 15 air cooler. It is big but fit the board and case. But it covered the CPU power and cpu fan connectors and they were squeezed next to the top of the case. PSU at bottom. So no room for me to connect power and fan. Switched to Corsair h60i water cooler (matches corsair case 100r) and it works like a champ. You can probably use a larger air cooler if you connect power and fan plugs BEFORE you clamp the cooler on the CPU. My case was just too tight for that. Memory runs at xmp speed (3600 cl14) Have not OCd CPU yet. But stress tested with handbrake encoder. Flawless. BIOS is a bit of a mess. Some useful settings such as virtualization and wake by keyboard/mouse are buried and disabled by default. Paired this with a Samsung 980 pro 1TB m.2 pcie 4.0 SSD. Fast boot and wicked fast I/O. Win 10 fresh install. Everything worked but I updated to the MSI/AMD chipset drivers anyway.
This is MSI's pro series motherboard, which appears to be their highest-end consumer motherboard option. At the price it's available for, it's definitely a great buy, especially with how reliable MSI has been for me so far. The only thing it could do better is allow the BIOS to be flashed with larger USB drives, the reason my attempts so far have failed appears to be because I need to use a sub-8GB drive to get it to work. I haven't tried partitioning my USB drive yet, though, so that may change things. My setup, using this motherboard (first time I've built a system): CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 8c 16t GPU: MSI Radeon RX 580 8GB Armor OC Storage: HP EX950 M.2 2280 2TB SSD Seagate IronWolf 4TB 5900 RPM 64MB Cache HDD RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 3200 ... MoreThis is MSI's pro series motherboard, which appears to be their highest-end consumer motherboard option. After lots of research, I settled on this motherboard for my system upgrade. After reading the previous review, I checked the MSI website, and they indeed have a BIOS and Driver updates. After getting everything running, I downloaded the BIOS and Drivers and did an install. No problems with either.HOWEVER, there is an issue with the IDE controller chip on some of these boards. You cannot put an IDE device (DVD, etc.) in SATA Slot 0 or 1. If you do, the drivers will not install, and hang up the system forcing a hard reset.I am using a M2 drive, so I had a DVD drive at SATA 0 - that is how I found out about the issue.Anyway, other than that, the board is rock solid and runs great. I purchased this upgrade because my old system could not efficiently process and render 4K video.I recommend this MB - just be aware of the SATA issue.
It's a budget motherboard that has everything you absolutely need and plenty of rear USB slots.A ton of fan headers (which I didn't need because my case came with a fan hub) and ARGB/RGB headers as well. I wish it did have a USB-C front header, however. The bios is very easy to use and it looks ok.The debug LED's were extremely helpful to diagnose the issue which caused me to return this for a new one with more features and... not defective.Mine had either a fault 8-pin CPU header and/or socket which would cause the cpu to not be detected. I returned it for a refund rather than getting a replacement because I wanted a different motherboard with better features and quality, such as a front USB-C header.Overall I believe it's ok for the price, as long as it's ... MoreIt's a budget motherboard that has everything you absolutely need and plenty of rear USB slots.A ton of fan headers (which I didn't need because my case came with a fan hub) and ARGB/RGB headers as well. I cannot recommend, however, because of personal experience with MSI's quality control - I exchanged the X570-A Pro for the X570 Tomahawk which ended up having an astronomically annoying coil whine from the VRM. Will be going back to Asus boards with whom I have had experience with.
Anyways. This item was amazing, picked it up when I walked into the micrometer to build my first gaming computer and runs like a champ. No issues I could even test the bios with the card and monitor and power supply. Only issue I've ever had is putting in the RAM sticks it took a while but I was new to doing it so it was probably a me thing.Pros -Affordable, reliable, perfect for gaming and and especially, plus its a 570!Cons - None, I was able to install the ram, gpu, cables and wifi card pretty swell I used a file to download windows as my operating drive
Im giving this board 4/5 stars. great board, however a few small niggles with it. A. the documentation is only a quick start guide and you have to go to the website to download the full manual, then the manual doesnt get you the proper orientation for the front panel headers. B. and this is not a stab at msi, but it seems almost all motherboard manufacturers arent including a cmos speaker anymore. it does alot of things right though. its Am4 and x570 chipset and doesnt break the bank at list price around 160. it can handle up to 128gb of ram. it has two usb 3.2 headers and multiple usb 2.0 headers. its got plenty of sata ports and two nvme m2 slots. it recognized my 3900x right out the box(to be expected as x570 came out with the 3000 series processors) and 1 click ... MoreIm giving this board 4/5 stars. great board, however a few small niggles with it.
