I have used this tent for one trip so far, wild camping in Wales, where it coped with strong winds and heavy rain very well. Easy to assemble, very light weight and appears to be very high quality components. As a quite average height man (175cm) I felt like if I was much taller the tent wouldn't be long enough, so if you are really tall it might not work for you.

A quality product that is easy to assemble and pack up.

I bought this tent having done a bit of research on line. I've used it for overnight camping over ten days of the Pennine Way. It has kept me dry when the heavens opened and has withstood ferocious winds at the Tan Hill Inn which is famous for being the highest pub in England. There is adequate space for a blow up mattress and important personal belongings alongside and at the foot of the mattress. I've even discovered the storage pouch! The green colour makes it very discrete for wild camping. The porch area provides a dry storage area for storage of backpack and boots. I've also bought a footprint and made myself a triangular waterproof ground cover for the porch area for added protection. It doesn't appear to suffer any ill effects when you set it up again later the same day.

ANOTHER TENT POLE FAILURE

Before I bought this tent in Spring 2020 I called into Cascade Designs to ask if they have fixed the problem. I was assured that they have not received any complaints and the review from MEC must be a one off.I had the old version and was excited about this regardless of the seam sealing issues with the first batch. I used it in June in Temagami for 3 nights no issues. My second trip with it was this past week with our unusually November warm weather in Killarney. On the 2nd of a 4 night trip I went to set up the tent and one of the connecting pieces was missing! I am waiting to hear back from MSR (Cascade Designs) and will update the review with their response. I am posting here because of the issue and the fact that they don't have a review system on their own website.Were these poles tested in the field or in your warehouse?!

Amazing solo tent

We are two people and have had our Hubba Hubba NX 3 (and NX solo) for a year now, and we love our tents. In the NX3 we have a lot of room for the two of us and our gear and space to move around. I use my NX solo on solo hikings, and love how small it packs and how easy it is to put up and just like the NX3 there is a lot of room inside the tent to move around.We use it in all conditions here in Denmark, and the tents are absolutely amazing. I can definly recomand NX3 and NX solo.

Beware - incorrect tent storage advice shown in video!

I always stored my Hubba NX 1 tent in the red sack it came in. Over time, several years, the floor of the inner became all tacky and sticky with white flecks peeling off the floor and the inner tent's seams. MSR advised me the problem had been caused by me storing the tent in the sack it came in. They told me I should have stored it in a mesh or cotton sack - something breathable that allowed for air circulation.I notice that in the MSR video which discusses how to reduce condensation, the guy packs the tent away for storage in its MSR sack!! This is going to confuse people, perhaps leading their tent inner to develop the same sticky/tacky/flaking floor problems that my inner developed. Cost me £180 to replace that inner...

Excellent one person tent

Having used the sturdy but heavy M2000 tent and the Exellent Carinthia Explorer 2 bivy bag for more then 13 years it was about time to go for something lighter but still long lasting. After a long search, in the sea of light tents out there, the choise was well thought/ made and advised by friends that use it and experts. Hubba-nx is just 1120 gr of a pure device ofca tent. Upon recomandations I bought the footprint too, but you can do aswell with a plastic sheet. The tent is sturdy, It feels money well spent. You can count, on the store staff to advice you well. I have often bought from them, but never had to deal with their after sales department, lol. All I bought have served me really well. My New Primary Tent

Purchased at the beginning of the 2019 hiking season and now leaving a review a year later. I'll start off saying as my tent was one of the firsts that I have sent in my fly to be seam taped as per MSR's service statement for all non-updated tents. With that out of the way...I love this tent and had been eyeing it for a few years now. I previously used a Eureka Midori Solo tent but wanted something bigger and something with more head room. Oh my goodness, this tent has amazing head room compared to a dome tent that I'm used to. I find it very easy to change and don't feel cramped at all. I looked them over like mad but didn't couldn't find anything so guessing it's just the new poles breaking in (no pun!). I did bend test them a bit and they are very flexible and makes me feel good about them holding up and standing up to some big winds.Has 4 guy-line points, a vent on the non-door side of the fly and JUST enough vestibule space to keep my 75L bag and boots under. I'm 6ft and have half a foot of space above my head and a few inches below my feet. My mattress is 23" wide and I have a couple of inches on either side. Two internal pockets are enough for me and decently sized to hold my few small items and glasses.Very easy to set up and light weight for me (there's always lighter). I enjoy that this is one of the few 1 person tents that is symmetrical and self-standing which I appreciate for some of the spots I've had to set up.. allows ME to decide the head and door side.. don't get me started about a sloping site and being forced to sleep a certain way!I'm glad to that I haven't run into the issues of the other two reviewers with their poles and have successfully used the tent a half-dozen times over the 2019 season. I appreciate MSR standing up to their quality, admitting their new seams aren't up to snub, and paying to seam seal my fly to make up for it. I'm just really enjoying stepping up to this tent and hope to get to use it in 2020!

NX is Next Evolution of a Fine 1P Freestander

I have now spent a week in the Hubba NX, and I’ve decided to sell my brown/green Hubba (previous version, which I also liked) because the NX fits my needs better. Major improvement for me are the higher solid sides. The previous Hubba had more mesh, which let in more wind. Ah, but what about circulation? Offsetting less mesh in the NX is the much larger space engineered between the tent and the fly--it’s a capacious area between tent and fly that allows lots of buffered air circulation. And there’s a new air vent pop-out on the back side of the fly. Setup is even faster and easier than before, although plenty easy on the previous model too. Cross pole used to be a struggle, now a breeze. Clips reduced from 6 to 4. But you need to check that you can still sit up without touching. Being just sub-6 foot, I have an inch to spare over my head, while sitting bolt upright on my NeoAir. Walls to left and right are vertical. There is also a triangle of nearly vertical mesh at the head and foot. One large mesh pocket inside. Easy for me to arrange myself so not touching any walls--the NX is 4” wider than before, less coffin-like than previous, so there’s a bit more room to put out an elbow or a knee, which is appreciated. I wouldn’t want it much wider because I like a small footprint tent--easy to find just the right site with a small, trim freestander. Also length is a now 1” shorter, perhaps making this slightly less attractive to taller people. My recommendation is to check it for size if you’re much over 6 feet. I notice most of the ratings on this tent have complained about the fly opening to one quarter only (the old fly could open to either of two quarters, but not simultaneously, unless you gave up an all important stake point), and people have marked it down severely for this. Fair enough; you can no longer open the fly door to either of two quarters on the door-side of the tent. On the other hand, now I don’t have to crawl out of the tent to batten down the fly--it’s easily reachable while remaining inside the tent. And the new fly has a nice rain gutter. The new design also makes the protected corner of the fly more nook-like and rainproof than before--opening the fly from the center let in more rain than the redesign does. It’s a remarkably rain-free entry now. So it strikes me as a tradeoff and doesn’t irritate me nearly as much as it does others. (Note one reviewer wishes the zipper runs along the edge--it does! It’s the previous Hubbas that made you crawl out to the apex to work the fly zip.) Color: Not as good for stealth camping as the previous green/brown. BUT, the red is not the electric red shown on the REI website (someone went crazy with the PhotoShop enhancement); it’s a deeper red that reads more red-brown from a distance to my eye. The fly is not silver, it’s light grey, like most other tents out there. When the fly’s up, there’s not much red to see, anyway. Upside is: being inside a light grey fly, it’s not nearly as gloomy as the green cast of the previous Hubba. My main alternate for the Hubba was the BA Copper Spur UL1, which is also a nice tent and a few oz lighter (4 oz I think). The denier of the Hubba is a notch higher (heavier but also more durable) and the MSR waterproofing reportedly has higher hydrostatic head (more waterproof) than the BA. I thought price for the NX when first offered was unreasonable; but got mine on sale at REI for very near the price of my previous Hubba (which was also on sale). Final note: Now almost a half pound lighter, it’s a 2.5 lb tent now--not bad for a durable, rain-worthy, double-wall freestander.

Pole cord defective

I have had this tent since 2017/18. I have used it all over the place and in most conditions besides winter. Super easy and quick to set up. I’m 5’6” so on climbing trips I can fit all my gear easily in the tent and vestibule. In saying that, alike all my gear I take very good care of everything; keep it clean; check it over etc.After not using this tent for a couple months I took it out to use it only to find the elastic cord within the tent piles had stretched significantly. So much so, I had to pull the inches of extra out of a pole end and try to cap it to make it work. I never over tighten anything or crank the supporting lines too hard to anything so I’m confused as to how this could have happened!About to go through warranty

Money no object I was tempted by Nordic options. Despite their reputation they still fail to meet my criteria. The NX however worked really well and found it great for urban camping on all surfaces. I am not a fan of inner first set ups and found the additional footprint invaluable to enable ‘fly first’ pitching.The tent had no issues with foul weather although would prefer that the fly lay closer to the ground to prevent rain splashes.No humidification issues and the entrance opening works really well including use as additional storage space or cooking.
