I bought this as I had used previous Murad products and enjoyed them. However, this product made my skin dry and feel gross. I looked at the ingredient list, and a quick Google search answered all of my questions. In skincare, the ingredients are listed by how much they put into the product. The first ingredient is water, which is the main ingredient in many skincare products. The second ingredient is Cyclopentasiloxane, a drying agent that also helps spread the product, which is banned in the European Union. The next ingredient, Isopropyl Palmitate, is highly comedogenic (makes you break out and clogs your pores). The next ingredients, C14-22 Alcohols, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, and Dimethicone, are good ingredients and help moisturize your skin. I have been using this retinol for about a month now. I am well versed in retinol and my skin loves it. I am at a point where I can use retinol daily without issue.I reluctantly gave this product 5 stars because the packaging was defective. I wanted to take away a star for that- the pump doesn't work upright or upside down. The only way I can get product out is if I hold it upside down and bang the pump on my vanity with my hand nearby to catch the product as it flies out. I hate that! So normally I stay away from products with retinol in them just because if you use too much or have sensitive skin they can sometimes burn your face. But this product surprised me and actually changed my view on retinol. Now I tested this for two weeks with two different moisturizers and this is my recap from cheap moisturizer to expensive pairings.I paired one pump of the product with the shea moisturizer (under $10). I spread it in a thin layer on my face. The retinal product did not turn my skin red or burn. Oddly I felt like I got more out of my moisturizer when paired together.
