I actually have this in a different pattern made of more of a fleece/flannel type of fabric. To start off, I would recommend this over boppy only if you’re going to plan on breastfeeding more exclusively. If not, this definitely isn’t as versatile as boppy. That being said, there are things I love about this pillow! It’s very firm and supportive so I felt like it really helped with positioning, especially in the newborn stages as we were both learning how to breast feed. The fact that it buckles around your waist helps it stay in place (which I liked better than boppy). When buckled there is a back support that helped me sit straighter. I actually put the plastic wrap it came in over the inner pillow, then put the fabrics cover on top of that, for an extra layer of protection against breastmilk. It is expensive retails around $50, but I have seen it on sale for less . And I really do think the price is well worth it. I personally felt it helped me position better when breastfeeding, especially when learning.

I also appreciate the little pocket; it's good to hold a pacifier or some nipple balm, etc. The cover can be taken off to wash, and the rest of the pillow is just a single piece of foam. It isn't very portable, but is very convenient for home use. I highly recommend this pillow for any nursing mother, especially in those first few months. I have just stopped using it in the past few months; my baby is now 11 months old and it's easier to hold him in my lap to breastfeed now.

I bought this on recommendation from my lactation nurse. Had the boppy pillow but found that it wasn’t enough to hold my baby during breast feeding attempts as he would be unstable on it due to the shape and I’d have to bend over more to hold him and secure him which just added to more physical stress. Because of the shape of this pillow he’s able to stay on it and it has a wraparound portion that goes around to my lower back to give it more support. So yes I’m loving this purchase. I purchased this pillow for my second time breastfeeding and honestly felt that I should have used this for my first breastfeeding experience. I say this mostly because it definitely helped to position baby to have a good latch. I love the design pattern and the pocket for holding a drink. It was easy to put on and the back support was nice to have compared to my previous nursing pillow. My only dislike is that is super bulky and can be frustrating to put on when you are trying to quickly feed baby because of the strap. I would recommend this pillow for moms who are breastfeeding for the first time.

I had the boppy originally and brought it to the hospital when we had our baby. All the nurses and lactation consultants told me they personally liked the my breast friend more and I immediately saw why. For a a newborn, my baby would fall into the boppy crevice. It just did not stay in place and was uncomfortable. I immediately got this my breast friend and it was a game changer. The shape made it much more comfortable for different nursing positions, especially my preferred football hold. The clip helped secure it in place around me. My baby was just all around more comfortable on it. Removing the cover to wash was easy. It is by the superior nursing pillow in my opinion.

I did use this pillow and found it helpful with my first baby more then with my second. My first baby had lots of issues nursing and the pillow helped support him and made it less of a stain for me. I liked it so much that I actually got the inflatable travel Brest friend too and brought with me on an international flight/trip. I liked that the travel pillow could fit the same cover as my normal Brest pillow. My baby would often fall asleep on the pillow while feeding, so it was comfortable. For my second baby he was a much better feeder and I also had a toddler so we were on the go more so it was not used as much. The pads I didn’t use often, didn’t have a problem with leaking and and a reusable pad seems environmentally better. Tube doesn’t last long mine got dried up before I used it all.

Let Me Tell You About My Brest Friend
18 January 2022

I didn't know I needed this but I'm so glad I discovered it. The lumbar support is great, there's a pocket, good for stashing your phone or a burp cloth. It snaps on with one hand and adjusts by just pulling. It made feeding so much better, my arms could relax but my baby was held at the right position and was comfortable. Definitely helped me out while working on the latch. Cover washed easily after being spit up on, retained it's shape well. Despite the bumps on the surface, it makes a good surface as a lap desk.

Not for c-sections
26 October 2021

This was one product I was very excited to use but ended up never liking. If you’ll have a c-section, I wouldn’t recommend this product. I had an unplanned c-section and that prevented me from really being able to use this. It’s supposed to sit right under your boobs, and my daughter is too big for me to use it now that I’m healed. The weight of my baby pushed the pillow down on my belly, and it caused painful pressure on the incision. I tried it a couple times after the soreness started to fade, but if she started coughing and needed to be put upright, it’s nearly impossible to do with the pillow strapped to you. That strap was the reason I put this on my registry over other products, but it’s the reason I ended up not liking it. I felt trapped in it. I ended up using a regular bed pillow and now just use that or a throw pillow. Also, I thought the fabric was rough, even after washing. Maybe that’s just the ginkgo leaf pattern fabric though. I’m giving this 3 stars because it’s a good idea I know it’s supportive and could work well for other women, just not for me.

Our Brest Friend
24 February 2020

My wife and I recently visited a lactation nurse because our baby son was having problems latching. He is a little over two weeks old. We were exclusively feeding him with pump-expressed milk, and sometimes formula. Whenever we tried to breastfeed him, he would get extremely fussy and swing his arms and legs. We tried the football hold and the lying down position , you name it. However , when we went to go see a lactatation nurse, he was successively breastfeeding. We noticed the pillow she was using had the name Brest Friend so I ordered two days shipping on the pillow and couldn’t wait for it to come in the mail. However, the cotton might be better for him to rest on.We recently bought a boppy but it doesn’t fit around my wife’s tummy, even though I like to use it to feed the baby with the bottle. This pillow goes all the way around, and it is firmer so the baby doesn’t sink in like other pillows. There are even raised bumps around where the breasts are to elevate his head a little bit.The snap is a bit tricky and you have to make sure it really connects.Overall, I would say that the BF pillow has changed our breastfeeding experienced from a negative to a positive one by its unique design and I would recommend this product.

just ok - broke after one week

I really wanted to love this pillow. I loved it at first, and there are some things I really like about it. I really like how its firm and its especially useful for the football hold. Its easy to prop one leg up to angle to pillow - very useful for my newborn who has reflux and spits up easy and I have to feed her as angled as possible. The reason why I am giving it 3 stars is that unfortunately, it broke after only one week of use. . I had taken the cover off it to put in the wash, and the thin back area started breaking off while trying to put it on. The pillow is made up of a firm foam, so its not super flexibile and putting it on and off puts a lot of wear on the skinny back part of the pillow. I am very petite and only 100lbs so its not like I have a larger body type that would make getting this pillow around me difficult. For the price of the pillow, you're just getting a piece of foam. I wish the pillow would come with a spare cover or you could buy extra covers separately, so you always have a clean one to put on if it gets soiled.
