Due to the severe price inflation of whey protein (not just myprotein, seems to be everywhere), I decided to save some money and buy the pea protein powder. I assumed that at worst it would taste and smell like pea soup. I was so wrong. It's like the pea flavour has been magnified by 50. I literally cannot stomach this protein powder, it brings on a gag reflex with the smallest sip. I would rather drink actual pee than this product. I have tried mixing it with several different liquids to mask the flavour. The best thing I could find to hide the taste was black coffee. The bitterness of the coffee seemed to mask the flavour at first, but then the pea after-taste would come on and the vomiting would start again. As far as mixability goes, it has a very chalky texture. It is a much finer powder than whey protein. When I first went to mix up a shake using this protein, I used about 350 mL of water for a double scoop. This is what I would normally use for mixing two scoops of whey protein. When I shook my shaker cup the mixture instantly changed into the consistency of baby pablum. I had to double the amount of water just so that I didn't have to eat it with a spoon. Even further dilution was required to make the flavour bearable. At this point I'm diluting it so much that it completely defeats the purpose of a protein powder. Do not be tempted by the slightly cheaper price tag, it's not worth it. Avoid at all costs. Goes Well With: Fasting - as even the smell of this rancid product will kill your appetite for hours

I tried the strawberry pea protein as Iām coeliac and lactose intolerant. I was a bit sceptical but the good reviews persuaded me to buy it, Iāve tried mixing it with milk, milk and water, milk with frozen banana and strawberryās, tried adding ice too. Iāve tried just shaking it and also using the nutri bullet. In all ways it would not mixā¦. Tasted powdery, might as well of scooped it and chucked it in my mouth without mixing it with anything. Both the taste and texture is awful. Iāve even tried it with normal milk rather then the milk alternative, still does not mix. I certainly would not recommend. Back to searching for a protein that accepts my dietary requirements.

I have been using the Chocolate Pea Protein for over a year. The taste was good until 2022. Now the purchase I made in 2023 the taste has gone down It feels less chocolate in it. To make the taste better I add additional 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder. Need to use 350-400 ml of water for good mixing. Results with muscle gain are good. If Unflavored I use it with 2 tablespooon cocoa powder and 2 teaspoons of brown sugar. Makes it palatable. The resealable pouch doesn't work with resealing. Goes Well With: I use Water.350-400 ml ( for 1 scoop) It also goes well with Milk. For 1 scoop use 250 ml milk + 100 ml water. Will mix better than only plain milk and also will not make it very heavy.

Before I bought this I read a bunch of reviews and they all either over-exaggerated the flavor/texture or under-exaggerated it. This protein tastes fine but not amazing. It has a MILD chalky texture (it's really not bad at all), particularly if you use too much in proportion to your mixer. The flavor of it is actually quite pleasant. I have the "Chocolate Stevia" flavor and is is sweetened enough to be drinkable without being overly sweet (a lot of whey proteins I find are a little bit on the sweet side for me). I think something that's happened is that whey proteins have gotten so unnoticeable when mixed that people are used to drinking things that taste like milkshakes. This doesn't taste like that, but I'm not sure what's up with the people saying they could ...Ā MoreBefore I bought this I read a bunch of reviews and they all either over-exaggerated the flavor/texture or under-exaggerated it. You will definitely know that you're drinking a protein shake, but it's perfectly fine (and I actually prefer it that way). Overall a great product and I'm going to order another bag. NOTE: With whey protein I was actually doubling up: 2 scoops to a pint glass of water. You can't really do that with this powder since water doesn't seem to hold as much dissolved. Goes Well With: Water
Bought a 1 kg pack a few weeks ago and I am done with it, now purchasing my second one. So first of all I am not into the whole Vegan Fad, I use this protein because it was the only protein ever that had no adverse effect on my stomach at all, unlike the whey and casein proteins I have used in the past. I am quite lactose intolerant and hence, no matter which brand I pick, be it ON or Muscleblaze or MuscleTech, I had to adjust and tolerate at least a week long stomach discomfort before my body could adjust to the milk proteins, however with this Pea Protein, I had no noticeable discomfort at all.. The taste is a little tricky. I wouldn't suggest experimenting with mango, etc., get a simple chocolate one and you will acquire the taste. The taste is a little tricky. I wouldn't suggest experimenting with mango, etc., get a simple chocolate one and you will acquire the taste. The taste of your first shake won't be what you are be expecting. It tastes more earthy and nothing like you've ever tasted. I wouldn't call it bad, definitely not, but yeah it takes some time to get used to. Mixability is also an issue, however it's a plant protein so it's not gonna blend well with water. However, all these issues subside when you notice how gentle it is on your stomach.. Incredible!!
Iāve been trying protein supplemented food for years and every time I have to hold my nose / I feel nauseous for hours afterwards. This pea protein has changed my life!! Iāve now confirmed the sweetener and flavourings of other proteins is what made them such an awful experience before. This protein tastes and smells like dry peas, as you would expect. It adds a āgreenā flavour to smoothies that I wouldnāt purposefully add for taste factor but it isnāt unpleasant. There is a noticeable texture but no more powdery than average proteins. I blend my smoothies with avocado and I believe the fattiness / thickness overrides it. Not sure how well it would hold up in very thin / watery mixtures. Value: great Taste: well it's unflavoured pea protein, I'm not buying it for the flavour so I won't mark it down for that! It's unpleasant until you're used to it, then it's fine. Mixability & texture: this is where it's gone downhill. A year ago, this was a bit gritty, but that's to be expected with pea protein. Mixed fine. Since then, I'm guessing they are sourcing this from a different supplier? Now when you shake it, it's much frothier, and it's almost impossible to shake out the small lumps. It also tastes worse than it used to. Overall it's still a good value product, but hopefully the sourcing can improve back to how it was when I last purchased it in 2021. (This batch I bought in Sept 2022.)
Was looking around for unflavored isolates for a while and chose to try this one, although not vegan myself, prefer to get plant protein in lieu of animal products. After using it for a while I have found this (unflavored) variety holds up to the name, depending on what youāre mixing this with, the āflavorā is relatively neutral, adding slight color, texture is relative to what itās being mixed with: a creamier thicker liquid will blend well and provide a smooth texture, while water and clear liquids allow for a slight chalkiness and grit, this isolate also does well being added to solid food. After using this product regularly I have felt a faster recovery time during rest and noticeable muscle gain. I became a vegan just over a year ago and after recovering from hip replacement surgery - both legs I was desperate to get back to training. I cannot believe how bad this protein tastes. The flavor added is fine, but the flavor of the pea protein itself is disgusting. It's like the worst part of peas, and the flavor is so strong. I can mix 3 parts whey protein with 1 part of this, and the pea protein is still the dominate flavor. Additionally, this has a grainy/sandy texture that does not dissolve well. Absolutely do not buy this. Goes Well With: The garbage can. But really, you need to cut it with some other type of protein or mask it with a bunch of other ingredients in a smoothie.
