Flickering issues

I shoot on a Red Raven and have always used tungsten or Kino-Flo style lighting. I'm looking to move over to LED, so I gave the Nanlite Forza 60B a shot and to my dismay, all I got in my test footage was flickering issues rolling across my image. I love the form factor and the light weight (hence the two stars) and was hopeful the the bi-color aspect of the light would work out for me, but to be honest the flickering issue (more like a rolling wave) is completely unacceptable. I tested it out in both of my main shooting formats (24 fps at a 48 shutter AND 30fps at 60) and the footage was noticeably rolling in both. This didn't happen when I switched to tungsten or Kino-Flo. I am returning the light and I will keep searching for an LED solution.

Ive used this light on 3 productions so far and its been a handy little light to have. It is super small compared to everything else I own but they pack pretty good punch. I use them as a fill or back light to really help out a production. The bi color ability is pretty great too. There is a small bit of fan noise but I didn't notice it on my audio.Really an awesome light to have in the kit. I recommend buying two!

Build quality is excellent. Color looks accurate. And it puts out a ton of light. I like the compact size. And the bi-color gives me nice options when shooting. I know there are COB lights in this category, but this one is genuinely great.

Hats off to the engineering team
29 August 2020

I just received two 60Bs and did a test. My first impression is that they are built well and have significant output. I'm very impressed by how compact they are too. The case it comes with is great and I won't need to buy a different one. For projects with clients I also appreciate that they are not tacky looking like most other budget friendly options.

Loving this light... just bought more accessories!
14 October 2020

Love this light so far, just purchased the softbox and battery grip to go with it. Already used it on a shoot in the mountains and it worked perfectly plugged into the back of my 4Runner. It't got a lot of punch and the quality of light is excellent.

Perfect upgrade to streamlined travel kit

I do a lot of video work for a few non-profits that are located around the country. Which is to say, I have a lot of solo gigs that require travel, but can't afford any additional crew. I watched quite a few reviews and tests of these lights before purchasing. I ended up buying two and don't regret it for a minute. My priority is size/weight vs. color-accurate output and these things don't disappoint. They provide a ton of light for something roughly the size of a Yankee Candle.I removed a star because the reflector dish, while increasing the light more than the Fresnel lens, also creates a hot spot. Additionally, the AC power brick has a removable shell that has a battery-side dummy V-Mount on it, which baffles me. It would be great if it were the device-side ... MoreI do a lot of video work for a few non-profits that are located around the country. It would be great if it were the device-side V-mount so you could use a battery... but I guess that's what the additional handle accessory is for.

Really compact affordable performer.

Although a bit more plastic than I like in a lighting unit, this is a great performer for the price. Super compact, lightweight and quality output.

Pros: Small and compact. Great light for wedding videography as well as other productions.Cons: Takes seconds to turn on. Fan is noticeable. You can't use other brand modifiers.

Small, versatile, well made
13 October 2020

Very impressed with this light. For the price and size of the unit, this light gives off exceptional output and color accuracy. With the optional fresnel or the reflector dish, it can serve well to lift the exposure of a room or as a good back/fill light. The added effects are a bonus too, with the candle/fire effect being particularly well done and customizable.

Versatile, portable, powerful.

I love the ability to color match for different scenes. I've been using them for home music live broadcasting, live church services, and around the house to add more light. It's a wonderful piece of equipment that gives creators more flexibility.I noticed the fan can be a bit on the loud side? how loud? I'm not entirely sure how to measure it. It seems like a quiet hum if everything else is quiet. Perhaps as loud as a PC with some fans running with the door closed? I'd say its quiet but can be noticeable if no other sounds.Otherwise, I really enjoy the nanlite forza 60b. There's a 'soft lens cap' to diffuse the light a little bit. That's wonderful when bouncing it off the ceiling to cast an even light.Hope this helps!
