Im writing this review because before I purchased this product, I could hardly find any for it.The Mivue 1000xl is easy to set up. Straightforward controls and well built.1080p at 60fps results in a smooth video when watching on your phone or tablet.The problem with this is that even in broad daylight, license plates can sometimes be impossible to read. At night, it performs well and produces excellent video. The same problem though still applies, license plates are difficult to read. Glare from your headlight or oncoming traffic makes it even worse. You cannot even see the license plate.For a product this expensive, I expected it to perform better.Traffic warnings were accurate maybe about 80% of the time in my experience.

Dashcam Navman MiVue1000

The video quality is excellent, the wide view doesn’t miss any event. Low light is captured clearly. Installation was a breeze. The menu is so so easy to follow.

Difficult to read number plates

I have had this Dash Cam now for a few weeks. I thought I would let you all know this cam does not have enough resolution to read fine details such as number plates. I believe this unit only has a 3 MP camera and this explains the poor resolution for fine details. Picture and video quality looks fine but when it comes to reading number plates it does not live up to expectations.

Happy with it

I bought it when it was on sale (20% off). Clear pictures/recordings. Love safety camera functions. It tells me where red lights and speed cameras are. I had to make sure that I got the memory card which is especially used for a dashcam. Otherwise, it will keep playing up and won't record anything. However, I still feel that it doesn't tell me ALL speed and red light camera locations eventhough the firmware is up to date.

Nice little unit with a few quirky issues.

This unit may need recalibrating due to showing red light and speed camera's where they don't actually exist. Everything else seems to work okay.

Reasonable value

Quite good for the price I paid. (bought on special). Good performance at night as well as during the day. In some lighting conditions, the video is a little artifact effected but still images are fine due to the high frame rate. It is very choosy on memory cards, you need to stick to the recommended ones.

Reliable unit of good quality

This is a good little unit. It is very choosy which micro SD cards that it works with. I went with the Samsung Pro Endurance and haven't had any problems at Full 1080P and 60 FPS. It gives great clarity and works very well in low light. I find the speed zone warning feature annoying as it warns of crossings etc that are on side roads that are not on my path etc, and also warns of speed cameras that are no longer there. I have turned that off now as a result. I love the quality of the footage and so do the police when I gave them footage of a hit and run only 2 days after getting this unit.

Resolution still needs improvement

I have had previous Navman MiVue cameras. Whilst the functionality is improved and the low light sensors prevents some of the glare, the resolution of the image does not appear as crisp and detailed as previous versions and in comparison to some competitors. If it were not for the fact that I require the GPS information imprinted on the playback file I would probably have chosen something different.

So far so good.

Bought this on special after lots of research, trusting the brand more than anything. It was easy to install and connect to the app on my phone. Haven’t connected to my laptop yet. Images are good with with wide angled lens. Some of the warnings are a bit annoying - it tells me I am in a 40km zone in my own street (where there is none).

Useless - no memory cards worked at all

So i could not even use this camera. I tried three different brand new memory cards, all of which met the spec outlined on the box and in the manual. The camera just said "SD card error". Took the camera back as it wasn't even heavy enough to work as a doorstop....Useless garbage.
