When Hot Pursuit first came around Need for Speed's long-standing popularity in the driving game market had taken some knocks. Looking to inject a bit of juice into the series, Electronic Arts decided to give it a twist and bring in Burnout Paradise developer Criterion Games to add some pep. Now, the fruits of that match-up come to the current generation of consoles with all the game's DLC and cross-platform play. Along with the pep, the UK-based developer also added multiple weapons and an environment called Seacrest County that is several times bigger than the Paradise City environment featured in Burnout. In classic Need for Speed style, gamers play as cops or robbers in high-speed, challenging chases. While the game majors on driving the kind of physics and collision detection and display that Criterion is rightfully famous for, at the core of is something called Need for Speed Autolog. This is a system that connects the gamer's online friends within the game itself. It enables players to share and compare race data including pictures and challenges. Essentially the system creates challenges based on the data it receives from the network of players. This is combined with the Career mode (a first for the Need for Speed franchise) called Hot Pursuit, wherein points and achievements are linked back via Autolog. As a cop or a robber, the player has access to a wide variety of weapons and tactics - in limited supply - to deploy in order to either evade capture or stop the "crims". Cars included in the game include the Lamborghini Reventon and the Pagani Zonda Cinque. The chase is on once again!

This Need for Speed series video game, enhanced for new gamer generations in 2020, has a lot of things to do: racing on streets of landscapes and towns in Seacrest County, using police cars to chase after racers and stop them, and playing online cross-play multiplayer games, which is very interesting. The soundtrack isn't very impressive, which is the only reason I'm giving this product four stars. Nevertheless, this is a fantastic NFS video game for any NFS fan, so I'd recommend it!

This game is terrible. I am disappointed in NFS for diverting from their glory days when you could go in, and Build a car from the tires up with a ton of modifications. There is absolutely no modification or money exchanges involved in this game whatsoever. You go through and unlock cars, which are race specific with each race using a certain "series" of cars. Say goodbye to the days where a honda civic could keep up with a real sports car. They don't even have everyday cars on here. Closest thing you'll find is a BMW M3, or Subaru STI. I also always hated using cars made by companies like Lamborghini and Pagani because it is just so unrealistic. Don't worry this game is PACKED FULL of them. When am I ever going to drive an Aston Martin? Never. Waste of time, and ... MoreThis game is terrible. No more going to a car lot, or garage... No more being able to change anything on the car besides paint color, (and even those are limited to stock options.) Changing the rims and slapping a decal on the bumper are even out of the question. Such a pitiful attempt at a Need For Speed game. It has addicting potential so it doesn't deserve a 1, but it definitely is bad. One of the worst parts besides the whole unlocking races 1 at a time and earning cars you can only use in a certain specified series has to be this whole Weapons arsenal nonsense. Spike Strips, EMP, Jammer & Turbo... so ridiculous. lol I might just throw it away so I don't have to spend time looking at it while I sell it on eBay.

I can't grumble at all about this PC game because it provides everything I needed such as brilliantly smooth graphics and no holds barred game play. The cars are very authentic and handle great even when my gamepad is set at default which is a bonus because some driving games are terrible when using the analogue joystick. Another good thing about it is it's simplicity when you are setting everything up for the first time so everything considered including the fun factor I definitely recommend this game...

Very good graphics, all of the NFS games are the best racing games in my opinion. I don't do anything on line and it limits me quite a bit, but that's on me.
If you're into car chases and racing games then i highly RECOMMEND this one for you simply because it's got ALL of the best production cars in the world such as porsche, pagani zonda and many more. The cop mode is particularly good too as it reminds me of an old time favourite ARCADE called chase hq but only with more features such as spike strips, chopper coppers or heli if you will, and the EMU system plus road block set ups as well. The best part of this racing franchise is simply UNLOCKING the xbox one achievements as well as unlocking more cars along the way. But anyway i hope that wraps it up for my review of THE NEED FOR SPEED HOT PURSUIT remastered version and i hope that this helps the need for speed fans or purists out there but for now take care and peace ... MoreIf you're into car chases and racing games then i highly RECOMMEND this one for you simply because it's got ALL of the best production cars in the world such as porsche, pagani zonda and many more. Driving cars in this game is very immersive. The sound quality is amazing, it is one of those games that makes you desire a sound system. Hot Pursuit has a driving scheme similar to those of arcade games. Controls are very exaggerated and effective at making you feel like your moving fast. It is far from a simulator like Gran Turismo 5. The customization of your car is limited to choosing the colors of you car, period. While browsing car colors there is an audio narrative about that particular car's history that starts playing. It is not game changing, but was fun to listen to. If you are looking for lots of car customization I strongly recommend Midnight Club LA: Complete Edition.Having the cops on your tail does add a fun element to the game, but they are not ... MoreDriving cars in this game is very immersive. If you are looking for lots of car customization I strongly recommend Midnight Club LA: Complete Edition.Having the cops on your tail does add a fun element to the game, but they are not that difficult. Police ramming you and hitting their road blocks does very little to stop you. They should cause much more damage to your car so you think of them as more of a threat than a nuisance. During chases I found myself being concerned about finishing first, not getting busted. The campaign is fun, you start off driving really nice, expensive cars pretty quick. I unlocked a McLaren F1 after a little more that an hour of play. Hot Pursuit is a very stylized game that is worth a shot whether or not driving games are your thing. I would not recommend it to anybody looking for a real driving experience or vast amounts of car customization.
The latest iteration of the Need For Speed series returns to the fan-favorite Hot Pursuit edition of the franchise. Even better: Criterion Games, most famous for the Burnout series, delivers a perfect-or-quite-close-to-it installment. At first, steering your vehicle seems a bit stiff, but it's part of a buildup to faster rides that handle better. A Dodge Charger feels dramatically different than a Bugatti Veyron...and the effort it takes to move up feels more than worth it. Plus, there's an emphasis on arcade-style drifting, with more of a focus on preparing for the turns by braking or letting go of the accelerator for a second (or holding the line if it would be faster). Since the developers of Burnout are involved, also expect to spend a fair amount of time boosting with nitrous and racing in (and dodging) oncoming traffic. The graphics are definitely noteworthy; the cars look absolutely gorgeous, even moreso when you've crashed, or caused another racer to do so. It also helps that Criterion crafted a very aesthetically pleasing setting to wreak all this vehicular mayhem on: Seacrest County features waterfronts, deserts, mountains, forests, and more... ...but back to the racing. There's no shortage of it here, as the career modes are quite long. Not only do you progress through ranks in 40+ events as a racer making a name for yourself, you can also prove your worth in speed enforcement with a equally lasting career as a cop, as well. There's speed runs, hot pursuits, races, and gauntlets - a mix of evading the police AND trying to set a fast time. You will be learning Seacrest County's roads while gaining new equipment, to either help you finish races or hinder suspects participating in them. When you've honed your driving enough, take your skills online, where a couple of online modes extend the life of the gameplay. Not only that, but they prove to be quite addictive and enjoyable, sure to extend the package even further. There's 4-on-4 Hot Pursuit mode, the highlight of multiplayer, featuring intense racing while dodging police officers controlled by other players. Another mode is Interceptor, a cat-and-mouse game between a cop and a racer, one that can get quite frenetic and exciting. Last but not least, a pure racing mode exists, where you can race up to 7 other drivers to show off your finesse. In addition to everything else, Autolog proves to be quite a fun treat of a feature; it allows you to keep track of, and constantly compete with, your fellow racers. Whether it's how many online races you've won, or how fast you were compared to your buddies, it automatically tells you how you fare amongst your online friends. Not to knock the previous "review" too much, but suggesting Forza 3 or Gran Turismo 5 is quite pointless: Need For Speed has been and always will be arcade-style racing. It's easy to pick up, difficult to master, and hard to put down. It's definitely worth checking out: a complete package plus more, and easily the best arcade racing game this year.
To be honest, I wasn't sure I would be impressed by the quality of this game when I ordered it. Then, when I started my first race, I realised something just dropped on the floor. It was my jaw. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit is a great game for many reasons. First, I speak for the lovers of the very first Need For Speed 3 Hot Pursuit game, released in 1994: you really are into it, the sensations are still there, and the pursuits are thrilling. It's very agressive, as you have your opponents, the police, and everyone's weapons involved, all at 300 km/h. It's certain to get messy at some point, but it all develops in a great, dramatic way. I haven't finished it yet, so there may be other points to discuss that I haven't discovered yet! This game pumped me up from the first trailer I watched a couple months prior to its release, unfortunetly for me, my busy school schedule (BTFU!) prevented me from purchasing it for longer than I would have liked, but it was well worth the wait! Graphics -- 4.5/5 The graphics in NFS: HP are amazing. Based in a rural mountain area, every inch is crammed with vivid scenery. Waterfalls, trees, and even the grass, make concentrating on the race at hand a challenge. Gameplay -- 4/5 Actual crashes, drafting, and NOS replenishment based on how crazy you are. You can access what event you want to do from the map screen(whether it be police or racer). Each spot has several different events that you can do,such as racing to be the first to cross a finish line, or making it ... MoreThis game pumped me up from the first trailer I watched a couple months prior to its release, unfortunetly for me, my busy school schedule (BTFU!) prevented me from purchasing it for longer than I would have liked, but it was well worth the wait! You can access what event you want to do from the map screen(whether it be police or racer). Each spot has several different events that you can do,such as racing to be the first to cross a finish line, or making it to a road-block in time to catch a wanted suspect. These events are fun and provide a new spin to the NFS franchise. Gameflow -- 3/5 In this title you don't pick a starting car and go from there. You unlock cars as you progress through the game and earn bounty, and you are able to use any car that you've unlocked at any time (provided that the particular event allows it). There's no money to earn, no impound strikes you have to avoid at all costs, and no real plot behind the racing, just the climb to reach the most wanted racer in the city, or the most accomplished and skilled police unit. For those of you that like a nice story behind the madness (like I do) you will find this game lacking here, but it makes up for it in other ways. Customization -- 1/5 One of my favorite parts of NFS games was customizing my ride, the decals, underglow, window tints, and all of the other options. Unfortunately The most you can do in this game is choose your car, and its color, before each event. Difficulty -- 5/5 This isn't like Carbon or Wanted, where you can poo on the competition with little-to-no effort. Almost every event is a challenge from the start to the end. Be prepared to attempt events more than once as you try to reach the highest distinction. Fun ??/5 This particular category isn't for me to decide, I can only offer more opinion and my personal experience with the game. As a completionist this game is very interesting and fun to play because it provides a challenge that other racing titles lack. It is fast-paced, action packed, and will have any race enthusiast itching to try the next event.
Good game plenty of modes and cars to unlock. One of the best looking driving / racing games on the nintendo switch. Had this for the ps3 years ago and it's one of need for speed's best. Worth a purchase. Box says download required but is playable without it.
