I did a lot of research to decide what was the best mattress for me and my lady, tested sizes in stores and what have you. We are both 6ft tall, so the tall wide was perfect. Regulars seem just a little too little for us.What I've yet to see in the photos is that this actually tappers in depth from the head/pillow to the foot. Where the head is a little thicker, the foot gets thinner. Personally, I love this. It's probably a 1 degree or less incline which seems to also help with my snoring. The pressure valve helps a great deal to find the ideal resistance for our side sleeping and being thicker at the head allows for a greater depth for my should to fall into.We took these out to Temagami this late September and it got down to 3°C at night and I didn't notice any ... MoreI did a lot of research to decide what was the best mattress for me and my lady, tested sizes in stores and what have you. Not a lot, and probably less than others, but it's unfortunate that Nemo doesn't offer a sleep cover for it. My old Thermorest had a cover with lightly rubberised straps that prevented the mattress itself from shifting and the fabric was just grippy enough to prevent my sleeping bag from traveling. Unfortunately, I will have to seek out a creative or third party solution to this problem. Otherwise, 5-star product, hand down.

We were using one of those cheap Intex sleeping pads for awhile, but that thing was so uncomfortable and bulky that my wife and I needed something else. We initially settled on a self-inflating pad, but it just didn't work out for us.Based on reviews, we landed on the Nemo Quasar 3D. We wanted something that was decently portable since our car camping equipment was slowly growing. We also wanted something that would also insulate us from the ground, and also something that was comfortable. It was a bit spendy, but all-in-all it is perfect. Coupled with our sleeping bags, we were exceptionally warm. It was also very comfortable (for us). The only negative is that we should have gotten the wider version. Purchased this pad as my 2nd inflatable sleeping pad after discovering that my 1st 1” pad was too thin for sleeping comfortably on my side.Honestly, the 3.5” thickness is overkill and I do not need it. I’m an active sleeper and it’s actually jarring to have your arm or leg fall off the edge in the middle of the night… which I do a lot. I’m still trying to find the perfect level of deflation to cradle myself in the middle of the pad to prevent this.I use it along with a CCF pad for extra insulation and protection, but can be used on it own. The Quasar feels like it’s made of fairly tough materials but still treat it gently if you don’t have a CCF pad as a backup. This pad is a very good product, but I would not buy it again. It’s about 1 to 1.5 lbs heavier than I want to carry and will be replacing it at some point.(Note: to make it a little more compact, I recommend removing it from the stuff sack and folding it into a square instead of rolling it up. I find it takes up much less space in my pack when folded.)

I've used numerous sleeping pads over the years (foam, original thermarest, Klymit, and so forth). I was in the market for something a little more "luxurious" for car camping that wasn't a fully blown air mattress, but would be more comfy than an ultralight pad that was 4" wide and 3' long.So I took a shot at this. Needless to say it's been one of the better camping purchases I've ever made. Super easy to inflate with zero leaks so far (~25 nights over past 9 months). Relatively quiet when moving around means I'm not waking up others in the tent. And the best sleep I've ever gotten using a sleeping pad. It's so darned comfortable that I honestly think I'd take it backpacking and deal with the extra weight (it's by no means heavy, but definitely not ultralight). ... MoreI've used numerous sleeping pads over the years (foam, original thermarest, Klymit, and so forth). The tradeoff would be worth it for how comfy it is. For car camping it can't be beat. Highly recommended.
Great so far! I have only used this for one trip so far, but I had a great night's sleep. I previously used a thin Thermarest pad and I never slept well. This pad is not only lighter and packs smaller for backpacking but is also much, much more comfortable than my last pad.I love the double valve and the pump sac, so you don't have to use your mouth and risk getting moisture in your pad. I also like that the headrest is slightly elevated for further comfort, combined with the Nemo Fillo pillow which is very nice for a side-sleeper like myself. All in all, this was a great purchase and I am excited to get back out there!
It is really actually hard to review this as I haven't tested it out in the elements, but have used it in a sterile environment at my house. It is easy to inflate with the included pump sack, and comfortable for the generally short time I lay down on it. The scooped design with it tapering from head to toe makes this a very comfortable pad. I have had back issues since my mid 20's (I'm 38 now) from a shattered pelvis over 10 years ago. Because of this, my back constantly hurts and it's hard to sleep. This pad is almost as comfortable as my bed at home. Regarding the shipping, it arrived quickly and packaged well. Overall, I'm impressed with this pad, but this is based on a limited time using it.
I recently used this pad for the first time on a trip to southern Utah. I think this pad has a trade off of comfort versus ease of use. For me it was a bit of a pain to set up. The flat style dual valves are hard to pull out- felt like I was going to break/tear something. The vortex inflation sack is great but a bit time consuming and I needed to be in my tent with the pad lying down in the floor to inflate so as not to get sand all over it. My friend stood and blew hers up in moments while I had to sit and push air into this one. Again the valves- were so tight I just slept with the vortex sac attached at the corner and when we changed camp sites, I just rolled it up with the pad. I will say the comfort was great! I have the insulated extra wide and as a side sleeper it was awesome. It was also very cold at the elevation we camped at, below 40 degrees but the pad was very warm and I didn’t not have any issues with it staying inflated. I really love the valve adjustment feature as I did need to let a bit of air out during the night. There are defiantly faster sleep systems for time to set up, but in the end this slept really well.
I have purchased a lot of pads, pillows, bags, and quilts over the last few years. I've been looking for the ultimate backpacking sleep system for active side sleepers. Folks, I've cracked the code. The NEMO Quasar 3D is the perfect balance of comfort and stability. It is the perfect width, length, and height. It has a slight incline that goes against the baffles and the edges sit a little higher than the center. All of this comfortably keeps me in the middle of the pad all night as I roll from side to side, pull my knees up, spread my legs, and do whatever else I do in my sleep. The Quasar 3D Insulated Sleeping Pad is luxurious and warm. I look forward to stretching out on my Quasar pad after a long day on the trail. First and foremost if you’re reading this around the date of 10/28/21, then there is currently NO REVIEW VIDEOS for this pad. Only video is from Nemo but that does the consumer no good cause we need an unbiased opinion right? So let this review serve as an unbiased review. The pad is quite a bit larger than the tensor. For obvious reasons. Packed it’s pretty thick and a tad heavy at almost 2lbs. But the pad itself is fairly similar to the tensor in terms of comfort and sizes. The baffle system is pretty darn comfortable and I feel pretty secure from rolling off while sleeping. I got the REGULAR WIDE size and I’m 6ft 175lbs. Plenty enough room length wise and at 25 inches wide I have plenty of room for my arms and elbow to lay at my side and still remain on the pad. ... MoreFirst and foremost if you’re reading this around the date of 10/28/21, then there is currently NO REVIEW VIDEOS for this pad. Out of the box pre trail, I’d say this pad will more than likely become the go to pad for colder weather backpacking. If you’re looking for reassurance to make the purchase, DO-IT. I researched every pad from every company at every price point, and all roads led to the Quasar The best value is here with this particular pad.
This is hands-down the most comfortable sleeping pad I’ve ever owned or laid down on. The 3D contouring of the pad does contribute noticeably to comfort, and is thoughtfully designed. There are slightly larger baffles to lay your head on, while a shallow depression in the torso/hip area keeps you centered on the pad. Towards the foot end the contouring flattens out, presumably to let your feet fall wherever is most comfortable. Included pump sack takes a bit of practice but functions well and is a nice touch. The storage sack for the pad includes a mini repair kit too.So, how’s it sleep? Coming from other pads, I tended to inflate this one pretty firm, and while it was still more comfy than the average pad, it wasn’t the cloud dream I hoped for. Coming from other pads, I tended to inflate this one pretty firm, and while it was still more comfy than the average pad, it wasn’t the cloud dream I hoped for. The magic happens when you use the micro-adjust valve to deflate this thing just a little bit (while you’re laying on it!) until you can feel your whole body sink into it slightly. At that point, prepare for the best night of sleep you’ve ever had on an uneven, rocky patch of ground.A few more notes:-this pad isn’t too noisy! Don’t expect utter silence, but it is significantly quieter than other ultralight air pads I’ve had.-the material is quite soft on your skin, and I’d be happy sleeping on it without a pillow, but this soft material also seems difficult to clean and prone to absorbing things like oils. Over time I’m curious how dirty this top fabric might get; for now I make sure to use a pillow or cover the head baffles with a camping towel.-I purchased the WIDE version of this pad, and I’m glad I did (it’s so roomy!), but note that most “2-person” backpacking tents will NOT accommodate two wide pads. Prepare to feel like terrible sleeping partner when you realize your mat takes up 70% of the tent floor space.
