Roamer is proof that camping doesn't have to be roughing it. Whether you're headed to the backyard or the campground, Roamer is every bit your bed at home except a whole lot easier to throw in the back of the car. Our innovative and proprietary internal air channels, called Flow Core, drastically speed up inflation and deflation and reduce packed size well below the competition. It's so good it can make a camper out of even the most diehard camping skeptics. If you or your partner demand the comforts of home, our Roamer pad is the answer. And thanks to its patent-pending internal architecture, it packs surprisingly small, living plenty of room for other niceties. And when you get to camp, it self-inflates in a matter of seconds and the firmness can be fine-tuned with our Laylow micro-adjustable valve. The stretch fabric top conforms to the body, while the durable 75D fabric bottom is ready to withstand anywhere you'd like to call home for the night. And continuing NEMO's dedication to sustainability, Roamer fabrics are made of bluesign certified 100% post-consumer recycled materials.

Car camping essential!

Expensive, but so worth it.

I am not saying this with any sort of hyperbole attached. This is the best piece of outdoor equipment I have ever purchased in my life. So good that I own two of them. I've had mine for about three years now and I have used them for prolonged periods of time with zero leaks and zero issues with inflating. My mom doesn't like the pull out we have in our guest room and opts to sleep on my Roamer instead of the couch. I've had friend's sleep on them when I've had guests over and not enough room. I've used them on camping trips with the family. When my kids get older I'll be buying one for each of them too.If you are in the market for a pad that you can basically use to replace an inflatable mattress, this is what you want to buy.

Great with some limitations

It’s okay, the Exped MegaMat 30 is better.
9 March 2023

Quality:The material on the surface of this mat is very comfortable to lay on and feels good to the touch. The material on the underside is tough. There are small loops with pins that can be clipped together to hold the mat in place when deflating and packing up, or to link multiple mats together; 2 Nemo mats linked together make a queen size mattress.Comfort:This is a 4” mat so when you sit on it you will feel the ground underneath. The padding inside the mat is surprisingly top quality; it is better than the padding in the Exped MegaMat and feels more robust. When you lay on this Nemo mat it is quite comfortable and when you deflate the mat the padding inside deflates flat quite easily once you get the hang of the deflation process.Issues:The 4” padding ... MoreQuality:The material on the surface of this mat is very comfortable to lay on and feels good to the touch. The padding inside the mat is surprisingly top quality; it is better than the padding in the Exped MegaMat and feels more robust. When you lay on this Nemo mat it is quite comfortable and when you deflate the mat the padding inside deflates flat quite easily once you get the hang of the deflation process.Issues:The 4” padding is quite comfortable when you lay on it but you will feel the ground when you sit. There are three holes that can be used to deflate the mat however you will want to only leave the middle one open to expel air. I bought 2 of these mats and neither came with instructions so it takes some practice to figure out the easiest way to deflate and pack up the mat. I left 2 holes open and air kept getting back into the mat which made trying to deflate the mat a workout as air quickly got back into the mat. You’ll want to clip the sides together so the mat stays in place as you deflate it then I had to leave the middle hole open as I spread the mat out again to then re-roll it up to expel more air. It takes some practice to accomplish rolling up and packing up the mat.I did not like that this mat is only 4” so it wasn’t comfortable to sit on since you feel the ground. Also, the sack that you use to inflate the mat is awful; it feels cheap and like it could tear any moment (I suppose that’s what they sell replacements). You can blow up the inflation sack with your breath to inflate the mat but I’m hesitant to do that for fear of getting moisture into the padding inside. The hand pump on the Exped MegaMat iworks so much better than the Nemo inflation sack. I ended up using the Exped hand pump to inflate the Nemo Roamers though it wasn’t a perfect fit it made the inflation process so much easier. What works on this Nemo mat:The materials, the padding and construction are exceptional. You can inflate the Nemo mat right out of the box/bag without having to go through the extensive 24-hour inflation process that the Exped MegaMat 30 requires. The Nemo Roamer does not fully self-inflate but it does a really good job of almost getting there.Overall:Even though the 6” Exped MegaMat 30 requires an extensive 24-hour inflation process, I much prefer Exped. The 6” Exped mat is a game changer; I do not feel the ground when I sit on it and it is exceptionally comfortable. The hand pump for the Exped is so much easier to use than the Nemo inflation sack. Also, deflating the Exped is intuitive whereas as deflating the Nemo took multiple efforts and practice. Yes, the 6”Exped MegaMat is more expensive but totally worth it especially if you find it on sale. Although the Nemo Roamer deflates into a much smaller carrying case than the 6” Exped, I did not like having to work those loops and pins to keep the Nemo Roamer in place when deflating it. The Nemo Roamer could work for hiking and camping and I recommend it, but I much prefer the Exped.

Love this pad!
16 December 2023

I have a Zempire MonstMat K-SGL sleeping pad, which I love. But that thing is huge, rolled up. When I camp out of my kayak, it takes an inordinate amount of space. So, I looked for one that offered the same amount of coverage and insulation, but took up considerably less space. The REI rep showed me this Nemo Roamer XL, and it was love at first site. I was scratching my head a bit, at how something so large and thick, could possibly fit in such a small bag, and decided to give it a shot.I’m glad I did! This pad performed flawlessly, on nights when the temperature was just above freezing. As an added bonus, it is significantly easier to roll up, in my little tent, than the Zempire.I would definitely buy it again.

I have to readjust throughout the night and I can say with happiness I can very comfortably sleep on my back, belly and side comfortably. My wife was jealous, so we had to get a second halfway through our epic travels. When we have a hotel stay I sometimes use this mattress over the one in the hotels. It may be better than my home mattress. 10 out of 5 stars.

Reliable & comfortable pad I've slept on for 3wks!
22 January 2024

I've owned this sleeping pad for 2 years and have used it while camping about 5 times. Sleeping on this (vs the ground, or a pad that's thin like a yoga mat) makes a huge difference for me in terms of sleep quality & how my body feels the next day.But the reason I felt compelled to come write this review is that due to covid, my partner and I have had to isolate from each other in our 1bd home, so I've needed to sleep in a different room. We set up this sleeping pad in our living room and I've been sleeping on it for almost 3 weeks now. That's a long time to sleep on something that isn't a "real" mattress, and I think it's a testament to the quality of this sleeping pad that I feel a greater appreciation for it now than I did before. After the initial setup, I ... MoreI've owned this sleeping pad for 2 years and have used it while camping about 5 times. This thing has kept its air pressure beautifully for almost 3 whole weeks. It's not as comfortable as my real bed, but is significantly more comfy to sleep on than the actual air mattress I own (and unlike this pad, the actual air mattress requires you to top off the air every few days). The only reason I'm not rating it a full 5 stars is that I really wish it came with a hand pump, or at least wish Nemo had a hand pump accessory available for me to purchase. Inflating it with the bag isn't difficult with the correct technique, but it is a bit time consuming, and I also have asthma, so I would just personally prefer to use a different method.Other than that, it's been great! I really recommend it to anyone who's looking for a camping mat that can comfortably sleep two people, especially since it can double as a nice place to sleep guests (or for yourself) if the need arises. I hope it lasts like this for many more years to come.

Sleeping on a Cloud

It’s worth every penny! I have used this 3 nights out in the desert on a vehicle overlanding trip and for a week or so on top of a cot for a work trip. I slept wonderfully every night and woke up without any aches and pains. It’s like taking my bed from home with me. I value that over saving space and will gladly wear clothes twice or take minimal pairs of shoes to make room. It takes up half of my go to travel bag, a medium TNF Base Camp duffle..but I looked at the dimensions prior to purchasing and knew that would be the case. If anyone gives it a lower rating for size reasons, that’s just silly. It’s plainly stated that it is a large sleeping pad. It does roll up admirably tightly for the size, though. It has little toggles that you can use to fold it in half and keep it that way for rolling it up by yourself and a one way valve to really get all the air out. The only negative I can give is not truly a negative. It does get warm in the summer time, the r factor is higher on it than a thinner pad. So just understand that. If you’re camping in heat, this is warm. I did get hot sleeping on it one night in Moab in July but that was in a tent and near a river. All other nights slept out in the open, exposed to wind with a thin sleeping bag liner and felt great. I did put a small tarp under the pad to prevent tears. For size reference I am 65in and 150lbs and this is large enough for me. *****In case it’s helpful to anyone: I’ve spent time putting together my perfect sleep setup and it’s this, the HEST camping pillow, a thin sea to summit liner, and the sea to summit traveler ii bag. Perfect combo for someone who isn’t backpacking but needs to frequently fly with camping gear and hates compromising on comfort to enjoy the great outdoors.

As a tent camper in his late 60's who loves late autumn and early spring outings, I was finding it more difficult to be comfortable at night in a tent on an inflatable mattress. This led to my search for something thicker, wider, and insulated. The Roamer Extra Long and Wide is incredibly comfortable and I can attest to it being able to keep the cold ground at bay -- outside of winter. It was a great purchase and the quibbles that I have are minor:The sequence of opening and closing the three ports during inflation and deflation seems far too cumbersome and irritating when I must also strain my eyes to see the guide on the end of the mattress. The plugs and orifices' material seems to be rather stiff. While I have learned to be extra vigilant when pushing in the plugs, I am a little concerned regarding the robustness of the seals as this item gets older.I don't have any regrets at all regarding this product and wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone that is looking for a higher level of comfort in a tent at night.

I bought one on the amazing Memorial Day weekend sale last year and one on a lesser but still decent sale this year before Memorial Day weekend. I love the sale price. And it's worth every dollar to get great sleep as a family on camping trips. As we age, I cannot imagine car camping without it. Obviously this is not a product for hike-in or backpacking trips. But once you use one, it's difficult to go back to a Thermarest type mat (though we still use those underneath our Nemo Roamer if we're on gravel or asphalt for protection of the mats and additional comfort but it's not necessary on grass or dirt). And because we like to set up and take down camp as fast as possible we use a lithium ion battery powered Ryobi air inflator. Also use either a full or queen sheet with tight elastic on the mat for cleanliness. Not sure what else to say other than this has saved us from buying a small RV (of which it's been impossible for us to find something that can sleep 4+ that is also affordable, lightweight and without an interior kitchen or bathroom). So if you can stomach the cost it's the best sleep you'll get on firm ground.
