I bought this pad for the second time because the first one I bought from an in person retailer. After blowing it up for about 10 minutes I packed it up and took it to 4 pass loop for its first of many trips with me. Long story short the pad had been bought before and returned. The previous owner had put a small hole in it so I didn’t notice the leak when I tested it. I woke up every 3 hours to blow it back up and was extremely annoyed. I returned it but decided to wait to buy a new one and save the money. Moosejaw had the best price available even with Black Friday sales and I can tell it is a completely unused product. That might not sound like much but after 4 cold and uncomfortable nights because of that issue I can say it is a huge deal. The pad it’s self is ... The pad it’s self is awesome and held air for around 18 hours before I was sure it was good to go. The comfort is unmatched and the biggest plus for me is the lack of noise when laying or moving on the pad. I’ve spent nights on many other high end pads and my friends have made comments on being woken up by me turning over because the sound is so loud. The biggest competitor is the big Agnes rapide and I cannot say anything about that one but at the same price and my personal experience I can say this is a safe bet well worth the money

Used this for 4 nights in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park this last week. We camped at camping spots, on trail, and in a shelter up at Mt Leconte. Works just as advertised and was super comfortable. Slept good each night after long hike days (20+miles each day!) So I needed to get a good night's rest. No punctures and wasn't so loud that I woke up my buddy that was along for the excursion. Really nice material and inflated/deflated super quick. Very pleased with my purchase, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quick and easy option for camping. Also, I'm a side sleeper and the regular/wide was perfect, never fell off the mat!

I bought this product in November of '22 for an upcoming trip to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. I'm an avid hiker and climber and I own and have used several different sleeping pads and air mattresses over the years. The Nemo Tensor Insulated stayed in the box it was shipped in until I packed for my recent climbing trip. The first night was great and I slept comfortably (the NEMO was on top of a thick foam pad provided by the porters . . . I still haven't experienced the mattress without the foam pad, so...). The inflation sack and the nozzles for inflating and deflating the mattress were great. It was thick and kept me warm throughout the night, and it was silent unlike one of my other air mattresses. It never came in contact with any rocks or other sharp objects at all. The leak appears to be either at the nozzle or at a seam and appears to be from a manufacturing defect. For a product as expensive as this one is, I'm left pretty concerned about the speed at which this failed. Perhaps I just got a defective product... It happens... But at the cost, I might consider buying a different air mattress first.

I bought 2 of these for my wife and I and although they’re very comfy, both have popped after 2 trips.I bought the paw print for the aura tent thinking I could wrap my pad with it for extra protection, but even with the extra layer, my dog ripped a 3 inch hole in it after her morning stretch. I should mention that I sleep with my pad pretty deflated, so it shouldn’t have been that easy to pop..Hoping I can find a solution for this as I don’t want to be repairing holes after every trip :/One other issue I had was moisture inside the pad. I used the vortex pump so no issue there. Not sure if this is normal? We had a pretty big rainstorm so condensation was to be expected, but inside the pad? Kinda odd. After a few days of hanging up they mostly dried out.All ... After a few days of hanging up they mostly dried out.All in all, if you don’t have a dog it’s almost a 5/5, I slept really well on it, even as a side sleeper. No hips or shoulders on the ground, and the long wide was a must have! Inflation is super easy, only takes 5-7 pumps with the included sack. If you DO have a dog this pad is probably not for you.
My previous mattress was a mummy shape, non-insulated and of a different brand. As I have recently switched from a sleeping bag to a quilt, I wanted an insulated mattress (4R). For years I've been trying to perfect my sleep situation when hiking. I think I have hit the holy grail here. The 4 things that this mattress does exceptionally well.1. It's warm!2. It's long (I'm 188cm) and finally my feet don't hang off the end3. It's wide! (when rolling during the night, not once did I fall off4. It's Quiet!(So much quieter than other brands I've owned. Other mattresses would actually wake me up when rolling around. Not this one).Lastly having the inflatable bag to blow it up is a game changer. The Nemo Tensor has served in a couple of backpacking trips and it has performed exceptionally. The option to get the wide version was really the selling point of this particular pad and has not let me down one bit. I tend to use a quilt instead of a sleeping bag for my sleep system and roll around quite a bit in it. The extra width it provides the comfort that I really looked for and really makes it feel like your using an air mattress because of the extra room you get on the pad. My experience with other sleeping pads has been suboptimal since there weren't any sleeping pads wide enough to suit my sleeping habits. Also, the R- Value for this pad is rated adequately and have used it in conditions where temps dipped below the 30's amd was quite warm. Overall, this ... The tensor was out of stop for awhile last year so bought the Thermarest xlite for this season. I finally bought the tensor insulated when it came back in stock. Knowing that this is highly rated my expectations were high and it didn't disappoint. It will be my go to pad for backpacking for 3 reasons: 1. comfort-for some reason the material is so smooth and feels almost like a quilt which is important because I use a quilt not a bag. 2. quiet-it's not silent but it is almost silent compared to the competition. Now the other guys in their tents won't complain so much in the morning. 3. super light. this is as light as they come at 140z. I have at least 6 pads and this is my favorite
I am a light sleeper, I toss and turn a lot, and I primarily sleep on my side. I specifically chose the Tensor because it is reputed to be the most comfortable lightweight pad, and the most quiet. It did not disappoint! The chambers design rather than the baffles is very supportive and it is quiet when I turn over at night. One helpful thing that I have seen others do and that I did myself was to put dots of silicone on the underside of the pad to keep it from slipping around inside my tent. It is easy to do and will make an outstanding sleeping pad even better. The only thing that I could say about this pad that isn't excellent is the pump sack, but I don't feel that it is worth subtracting stars for. The pump sack sorta works, but requires the user to blow into it rather than being able to shake it to try air. My Exped Schnozzle pump sack fits the Tensor though and it works so much better, it also doubles as a compression sack for my top quilt. So is this pad worth the cost, especially when compared to some less expensive competition? My opinion is that the sleep system is the first system in precedence to upgrade. If there is any system that I would not recommend skimping on for, it is sleep, so yes I feel that the Tensor is well worth the price.
I've been backpacking for nearly 30 years and have used a ton of sleeping pads. I needed to replace mine but I couldn't decide between this sleeping pad and the Thermarest Neo Air XLite. They both had very similar specs and price, so I decided to buy them both in the regular mummy size for an 8 day backpacking trip with my daughter in the Patagonias. She used the Thermarest and I used the NEMO. We had all weather from freezing to warm. The two models really are almost identical from a practical perspective. About the same size, weight, R-factor and thickness. They were both very comfortable, even on rocks and roots. But there are two factors where we both preferred the NEMO over the Thermarest. About the same size, weight, R-factor and thickness. They were both very comfortable, even on rocks and roots. But there are two factors where we both preferred the NEMO over the Thermarest. First, the design of the pump sack is much better on the NEMO. The pump sack for the Thermarest was really hard to get on and off, didn't inflate as easily or seal as well. The NEMO was easier and quicker to inflate. Second, the Thermarest was much noisier. I know this is no surprise as it is a common complaint, but having the two next to each other it was really obvious how much quieter the NEMO was. This was the biggest reason I wanted to try the NEMO in the first place since I don't like a noisy pad. I did not have any quality issues with either as some have reported. Both held up very well. In fact, because I was concerned about some of the reviews about poor build quality, before I left for my trip I inflated the NEMO, loaded it up with over 200 pounds of weight on top on hard ground and left it for two days. At the end of that time there was no noticeable loss of air or defect. So, in the end, I gave the Thermarest 4 stars and the NEMO 5 stars.
I bought this pad several weeks ago. I spent two nights sleeping on it, and boy did I enjoy it!1) the pump sack is great! If you use it accordingly to instructions and it will work really nice. The narrow opening is actually very thoughtfully designed - the air you blow into the sack doesn’t escape it. Only three pumps needed to inflate the pad. Very efficient!2) as soon as I lay down on it I felt the warmth coming from the pad, very nicely insulated3) extremely lightweight! My previous regular 72 x 20inch pad weighed 550 grams (~19,5 oz) alone. Tensor wide (72x25in) weighs 540 grams with the pump sack, a Velcro, stuff sack and a repair kit! Much more comfort for the same weight!4) As much as I hate deflating air pads - Nemo Tensor is the bomb in doing that. ... MoreI bought this pad several weeks ago. Just a tiny amount of air was left in the pad (I just didn’t squeeze it out), but it fit into the stuff sack no problem. The only thing is that I have to be very careful not to sleep on pointy and sharp stuff, because it’s made of very thin fabric. But that’s expected from an ultralight pad, right?
