I bought mine second hand. Read lots of positive reviews, so snatched it up asap. I attempted to set it up and couldn’t get it connected to the wifi network. The online directions weren’t the best, even downloaded the app, nothing. I gave up for a couple of months. While cleaning it, I saw the tiny reset button, found a pin and reset it. I immediately was able to connect the router and it works way better than the wifi company’s router. No disruptions thus far, consistent stream. We finished like a champ.

Like many people, I’ve been trying to cut my monthly expenses and decided to stop leasing my modem/router from my internet provider. I was very nervous about doing this and kept putting it off. I work remotely and if something went wrong it could mean no internet access. But I bought one of the recommended modems and based on the reviews, purchased this Netgear Nighthawk router. Setup couldn’t have been easier. The instructions were clear and I had everything up and running in less than 20 minutes. I’m seeing speeds I should have been getting all along and my new setup keeps everything connected in my 1700 sq ft, 3-story townhome. Initially used a new laptop running the latest version of Windows for installation and could not complete installation. Don't know if it was a Windows or a laptop issue. When I switched to an old Dell Latitude, installation went smoothly and only took about 5 minutes.It's powerful. The router is located in my home office in a corner of the house which is about 2500 SQ ft. It provides excellent coverage. Previously, a Netgear extender was necessary for complete coverage. With the new router, the whole house has complete coverage. Typically the WiFi icon on our phones displays maximum every place in the house.

I decided make the switch to Netgear from Linksys, I figured that trying a new brand for my networking needs was a good idea. Well..... I have great signal with the Nighthawk. Plenty of distance, enough to go outside of the house quite a ways without signal drop. I handles everything we have connected, and more. I really like the signal strength for both 2G and 5G bands, it lacks nothing. Setup is a breeze. I have a lot of IT knowledge, so I could set it up without the app, but with the app pretty much anyone with the ability to read can set up the Nighthawk. So if you are in need of a home or office Wi-Fi system (pretty much everybody these days) you won't go wrong with the Netgear Nighthawk.
I've had the router for years after my dad bought it before he died. I was fairly certain it would have been an upgrade from our current router. I tired setting it up through the app multiple times, that only working once, but due to an error I made in the setup process and not being able to back-track in the app, I had to reset the router and start over. It continued to fail to setup from that point on. Tried setup on PC twice, and all times I couldn't get it to connect to the internet despite my cables being in the right spots and working with my previous router. I eventually gave up on installing. I may try again in the future.
I recently purchased a used NETGEAR AC1900 for my internet cause I needed a compatible WiFi router to go with my internet modem. At first I thought I bought a “lemon” cause it wasn’t connecting even after I did a hard reset on it. But after looking up the support on the Netgear website, I figured out how to dial into the router and reset it that way. Now everything is up and running with the router and hasn’t been a problem since. The speed is really good throughout the house and I haven’t ran into any slow speed yet. Netgear products are very good in my opinion.
This was fairly easy to install, downloaded the app to my phone and followed directions. I was able to turn off the password security as I live away from any other people and have multiple wi-fi printers, copiers, security systems, smart tvs, remote access point, phones etc, etc, and I HATE have to set everything up for a password. There was no way to turn off the password from the internet providers - Century Link -router they sent me so bought this Netgear R7000. Love it so far. Currently getting 300mbps on wi-fi.

Mine is about 5 years old now, and I shut it down overnight to give it a break with an IP power switch. For best performance, I have to do a monthly factory reset. If I don't, web page requests are slow to load on any browser and it seems to have less range. To be fair, it was extremely fast for the first 3-4 years from new. In my experience of 20 or so years of owning different routers, this has been the best. The worst was DLink, perhaps they are better now. I would buy this again, but I would not buy the new version for $700,aint gonna happen! Overall, I think routers in general, such as consumer routers wear out over time.
