Data speed will of course depend on your Cellular provider, but since this is an unlocked device, you can use it with all providers. It's just a great device all around and certainly it has become indispensable after I have realized how convenient everything is after owning this equipment. The tech is so current and top of the line, that this will provide me many years before I even think about upgrading. Netgear, as I have learned, has a companion app, which makes it easy for me to setup and change settings in the device if it's in my pocket or in my backpack, as well as the LCD screen with simplified icons, navigating through the settings is easy. After a week of use, I have memorized the menus and the learning curve is not at all that much. Very much impressed after the first several days of ownership. Highly recommended if you need 5G speed data on the go or as a constant source of home internet as a gateway device. It's a bit pricey, but considering you getting high-end specs, it's worth the money.

Purchased for use while travelling. Used on multiple wireless carriers, strictly on pay as you go plans. Set up with the carrier(s) of choice and simply switching the sim cards out as needed. Some locations require the use of a cellular booster, but that is location specific, not endemic to the device. Wifi signal is adequate for use inside and within a hundred feet or so of our RV. Battery life seems adequate and as advertised, so far. We can easily charge the device or run it without the battery while using shore power, inverted solar power, or just 12v. Quite happy with our purchase as we have the flexibility of switching between lesser expensive 5G mobile data plans, based on coverage area.
Originally purchased to augment a terrible coverage area, it landed as the backup to my alarm panel. It crashes after being online too long thanks the hackers, web-interfaces goes offline and so does the DNS. Its just not network grade enough to endure longer operations, was fine as a mobile hotspot for short term uses. External antenna port is pretty boss. There really needs to be a pro-sumer level or guess I need to look at some IOT devices for this. Anyways not really impressed with Netgear lately my Nighthawk didnt hang in there either.
I am using the hotspot as my only internet connection in my rural home. I am using a Google Fi data only SIM. It’s providing an adequate service - 32Mbps download with a latency of 107ms. I have removed the battery and am using the power adapter.I wish it had an easily accessible indication of signal strength, so I could find the best place in my home. I think it’s under diagnostics. It would be good to have it on the LED panel.My Fitbit Atria 2 scale would not connect to the Wi-Fi. It needs "802.11b/g/n, 2.4 GHz standard" according to the Fitbit manual. I did enable 2.4 GHz on the hotspot. I then disabled Wi-Fi on the hotspot and connected an old NETGEAR R6700 router in access point mode via Ethernet. The Atria 2 scale then connected.
I intended this router to replace a Verizon INSeeGo 5g and a Cradlepoint IBR200. Both running on Verizon. The Cradlepoint with a Verizon SIM and no "wired" internet, i.e. Verizon cell only. I moved the SIM from the INSeeGo to the Netgear. Speed was 1/2 the INSeego and 1/4 of the Cradlepoint. I tried various areas around my home as well as outside. It also ran very hot compared to both. I waited overnight to see if the Verizon changeover needed time to regroup. No change so I returned the Netgear.
When I got the Mobile Hotspot, it was a terrific benefit to connect with devices anywhere in the USA. It was the first problem with “ Not Connected; Go to SETTINGS > Advanced > Cellular to confirm your APN settings [Error 512].” which is the facer issue. Verizon has no idea how to correct APN, and I had a contact with Netgear customer service. They were great to support me, and they told me about Verizon’s problem with APN. I bought a SIM card from Verizon but they didn't know to settle up and struggled with it then gave it up. I went to the store two times and contacted Verizon many times. (never helpful)

I also read that it only produces only 2.5Gb/s (Gigabits persecond) on that 5G technology and contradicts by mentioning 3.5Gb/s, with only a 1Gb/s ethernet (WLAN) port....(questioning emoticon) Why, in any right mind is this anywhere nigh the same price as a smartphone/tablet, please....? Routers & modens are nowhere near this much.... even for specifically N securities!! Security systems are less than this for homes/buisnesses. Many of the phones BestBuy sells aren't this much.... I have recently purchased five of the best, highest rated hotspots currently available for GSM / T-Mobile use. Out of all the hotspots this 5G quad antenna (non pro) version seems to perform best for me in my area. Unfortunately, the pro version (newest) of this Netgear hotspot seems to suffer from overheating. I really don't need the mmWave feature or 6E WiFi... I prefer stability over bleeding edge performance with this type of product. Price is very high but it's a good hotspot. Highly recommended.
