I have been wearing only 1080s for the past eight years. I walk 4 miles/per day, and they are the only shoes that don't make my legs or feet ache afterward. I also have my husband and daughter hooked on the 1080s. We wore them throughout Italy and clocked 15 miles in one day. We both agreed they are the only shoes for travel and walking/hiking. They are a bit clunky and take up room in the suitcase, but they are worth it. They cushion your foot from the pavement. In Italy, the cobblestone streets could easily roll your ankle with the 1080s; there is complete stability. I have never had to break them in; they are comfortable right out of the box. I throw them in the washer and come out looking new. I have a wide foot but don't need the wide in this shoe. The toe box ... MoreI have been wearing only 1080s for the past eight years. Absolutely adore the style and subtle colors of this shoe. I got the Sea Salt with Sweet Caramel and Light Surf. It's super lightweight, provides very good stability, and serves many purposes. I use them for long walks, errands, fitness, sculpt and dance classes. They have a thick cushion and they are truly like walking on clouds!!!Unfortunately within the first few days of having them, I accidentally broke a liquidy bottle of brown brow mascara that went flying all over the shoes, and could not for the life of me scrub it off. I stuck the shoes in the luke warm machine wash as I do with all my running shoes and let them air dry, however the shoes became quite misshapen afterwards and took 5ish wears to go back to normal shape, hence my 4/5 stars. I decided to try a brand I hadnt purchased in a few years, so I picked up a pair of these NB Fresh Foam 1080v12 sneaks several months ago. I am constantly rotating and buying new sneakers for workouts, training, running, classes and recreation. The Fresh foam 1080 are lightweight, provide nice cushioning, arch support, stability and are overall an excellent purchase. So much so that I just bought another pair! I am currently reaching for these the most because they feel & fit l amazing -- perfect amount of cushion and support. I am typically a 9.5 M in 95% of shoes and sneakers (with the exception of Adidas and Hoka where I have to sometimes size down to a 9 due to my somewhat narrow foot). These fit TTS. If you are in bw sizes, I *might* size up, but in general these do run TTS. Additional feedback -- five friends in running group purchased after me. All said TTS and love as much as I do!! Highly recommend. Perfection!!

Big disappointment for a $270 bucks purchase.
I am a retiree with bad osteoarthritis in both feet due to a botched surgery when I was 21. I HUGELY rely on these shoes and wear them practically every day, even inside, which means I have to buy them at least every 6 months. I usually buy two so I can change them out. I bought the bright blue pair. Felt great, no problems, took their advice about going down a half size. Big mistake with these black ones. Same shoe, same size, EXTREMELY TIGHT AND UNCOMFORTABLE! I thought they would stretch but they have not. Now I'm stuck with these and horrible foot pain till I can wear them out. The clerk at a well known running shoe store told me sometimes they can be "built" differently. Really? Sounds like pour production practice to me. They're very expensive for me and I will most likely search for a different brand but that'll be difficult due to my issues. Get it together, New Balance! These are costly shoes!
The only reason I began wearing New Balance shoes was due to their inclusivity for extra wide feet. I still tried my best to stick with this brand after they decided to exclude the extra wide footed population, but these hurt my feet horribly. My feet were constricted, and the back digs into my ankles when I move. Most of their shoes already have a stiff, overly padded ankle, and it's disappointing that they couldn't keep the option for a thin, light weight backing like the 1089v11's. There's nothing special about this brand or this line now.I also don't know what to wear anymore because I have searched endlessly online for extra wide shoes that are lightweight but supportive, and don't dig into my Achilles when I walk. The 1080v11's were perfect; they included extra wide widths, were gentle on my feet, and no other brand lived up to that. The soft and thin heel didn't dig into my ankles and cause disabling pain like most shoes do for me.It's saddening to see that New Balance once provided supportive shoes for people who usually aren't included by brands, but decided we aren't worth the sales anymore. They've lost thousands of customers by deciding to exclude us, and that's disheartening because having a properly fitting shoe is so important if you want to be active.
I'm a huge fan of the 1080. I love the cushion the shoe provides without being too heavy. However I was disappointed with the V12. The new heel design features a lot more padding which kept rubbing on my heels and ankles. I kept pushing through the irritation saying I just needed to "break them in." But it did not improve and my ankles and heels just kept bothering me. I put on a pair of V11s I had laying around and saw a huge improvement. My ankles and heels stopped screaming at me and I was able to enjoy moving. Also the sizing runs large, I had to order half a size down from my usual. However, the soles were well padded and felt great. They were super supportive and I liked that they felt more cushioned than the V11. I bought three pairs of 1080v11 and LOVED them. I expected v12 to be better than v12 but it is not. I thought I would be okay ordering them online without trying them on given my experience with the v11 but wish I'd gone to a store to try them first.I do a brisk 3 mile walk 4-6 times a week and immediately noticed that the v12 was not as comfortable as v11, especially around my ankles and heals due to the changes.I hoped that after a week or so they would "break in" but instead a month later I ended up with heal and ankle pain so intense that my doctor recommended I stop my walks completely for at least a week to allow time for my feet to heal.I did that, and upon resuming my walks, the pain started to return. I’m a healthcare workers and was looking for some new shoes to support my feet. I’ve worn mostly adidas ultraboost and have liked those a lot, but thought I would switch it up. I tried on these new balances in the store and thought they were comfortable and light weight. Ended up wearing them to work the next and they KILLED my feet. I actually had to go to the chiropractor because I could barely walk the next day without being in a lot of pain. I thought it was a fluke thing and maybe they just needed to be broken in. I’ve committed to wearing these for a few weeks since I spent so much on them and every day my feet hurt. I actually have to take them off at my desk because they hurt just being on. I received these running shoes today. I find them gorgeous. True indigo colour, wide toe box. I have regular width feet and they fit perfectly. My regular size for New Balance running shoes is 7.5. Same with Asics brand. (Some other brands fit me better in size 7).The tip of the shoe curls up a bit but does not interfere with the stability or comfort. Support and cushioning are adequate. When I tried them on and walked inside the house, I felt pain on the inside of both feet and thought that the molding of the arch was too high and too stiff for me. I almost decided to return them.Fortunately, I found the cause of the problem. The insole was too wide and too angled under the arch of my feet. I narrowed them using plain scissors and now they are perfect. I am happy ... MoreI received these running shoes today. I find them gorgeous. True indigo colour, wide toe box.
