The New Balance 550 Turtledove White is a sneaker with a design that pays homage to the original design, which debuted in the 80s and was inspired by basketball culture. This iteration of the New Balance 550 features a paneled off-white upper made entirely of calf leather. Both the toebox and the side panels feature perforations for extra breathability. The New Balance N Motif graces the sides in white outlined in perforation detailing, while 550 branding appears on the lateral side panel under the laces. The heel counter contains an NB logo, while the heel collar appears in white. The cushioned tongue also contains a New Balance logo patch. The off-white rubber sole is also layered and contains the NB logo and the New Balance brand name on the lateral side. The outsole is a light gray color. Our favorite feature of these sneakers is the perforated detailing present on the entire upper. It gives the shoe extra visual appeal, while also increasing the functionality. The New Balance 550 Turtledove White was released on July 7, 2023, for a price of $120.

I usually wear women's size 8 and ordered these in a men's 6.5 in the white/white colourway. Would have grabbed womens, but they're never in stock or gone before you know it! Fit is good, albeit a little tiny bit big. Might have gotten away with a men's 6, but women's 7.5 is usually way too tight. I'm almost always a EUR39. Didn't want to chance sizing down. So far so good, but the only thing annoying is the exposed midsole foam. Dirty in 5 minutes of wear. Are they the most comfy shoes I own? No, that title goes to my 990v5's, but these 550s are a totally different look. Good shoes overall.

The. BB550 is a very attractive shoe, quality craftsmanship, and comfortable for walking and casual wear. Compared with other NB shoes, the 550's run more narrow. I can normally wear either a size 13 D, 13 2E, or 14 D in 990's, 860's, 880's, 1080's, etc., but with the 550's a 14 D is the smallest size that fits comfortably. They are also quite stiff when new and take some wearing to break in. Overall, I really like these shoes and already have several pairs in different colors that I wear often. Others will undoubtedly be added to my collection as new color ways come on line. Give them a try but err on the large side to get a comfortable fit.

Got a pair of the BB550 in the sea salt color and I love them. Softer, more premium leather than other shoes like Air Forces. The off-white bone color they have makes them way more stylish but also gives them the ability to be more casual. Nice shoes. I would say the colors are accurate for the "sea salt."4/5 stars because my feet can start hurting after a long day around the like medial sesamoid. This isn't just with me or the basketball variant but it's just an uncommon complaint from some that wear the 550s.Usually wear a size 10 or 10.5 and most of my shoes are New Balance; anywhere from skate shoes to runners. I got a size 10 in these and they fit perfectly. I have yet to see any real helpful reviews for those are looking to purchase these for the first time. For reference, I normally wear a size 12US in Nike, Vans, Adidas (Jordans, Eras, Boosts, etc.). For ALL New Balance shoes I've ever purchased, going down a half size is a must for me, and I did so again with these (11.5), and they are a perfect fit, as expected.Know that you are buying a full cut shoe, meaning these puppies are meant to be laced up right and tight. If you leave an eyelet open, you're almost assuredly going to have some bad heel slippage, just the nature of these shoes. But if you can get a perfect fit, and lace them up completely, the heel slippage is very minimal, and you sort of forget about it. I love these shoes. I wear them to class and work sometimes. They have good grip and stability so I can play basketball and pickleball in them. The thing I noticed as soon as i got them out of the box was that their construction is sloppy. Paint bleeds past intended lines, exposed glue etc. The white "leather" is very fake in look and feel. These things cant be seen from most people's perspective but they are disappointing nonetheless
The color way is perfect for the fall and feel in love with it immediately. These are my first 550 but I went True to Size and they fit perfectly. I can see that if I went a half size down they would be tighter so do with that what you will.Overall the fit of the shoe and the colors are perfect. You get the retro but not the pain. The one big disappointment about these shoes is the fact the paint is already stripping away after wearing them 1 time. You can see the photos below.Maybe it's just my pair but I really wish the paint was better on these so order at your own risks.
I’ve had a few pairs previously so I was aware 550’s can fit on the smaller side. I am a size 6 but as they fit small and I struggle to find a half size in these and a 7 being too big, I take out the insoles as they’re quite thick and replace with a thinner one. After that, they fit great. Can be a little narrow as well so not good if you have wide feet like I do, once you wear them in they’re fine. Obviously these are leather so wearing them regularly can make them crease quite quickly which is is a shame. But the styles with the suede age much better.
No secrets here, NB 550s have recently become seemingly everyone's go-to sneaker, and I totally get it. Clean lines, leather construction, throwback style that pretty much goes with any outfit for any occasion. If you don't have a pair yet, definitely add to your rotation in a colour way you like. This black pair had really good leather quality compared to some other colour ways I have seen, and I think they're super easy to wear. I switched out the laces for beige rope and it really elevates the silhouette making it appear to be one of its ALD counterparts. Highly recommend, not necessarily for comfort, but for style and dependability.
and that's probably why you're checking them out. And yes, on feet they really look fantastic and tie many outfits together. However, the leather quality is questionable. Dropped mine once and now have a little permanent dent on the left toe area. Additionally, the fit is a bit weird. Size 13 felt like the right length but the shoe would slide up and down the heel thanks to the tongue being so far forward (making for a huge opening). Had to go with a size 12 even though I end up having to curl my toes a bit cause...you know...anything for the drip. The actual construction of the shoe seems extremely sturdy though, as is usually the case with NB, and it looks just as nice in person.
I had high hopes when I orders these because a friend of mine recommended them to me. Honestly I was so disappointed. I wear size 10.5 and I've never had any issues with shoes being tight the 550s are extremely narrow in the middle to the point that it was painful to wear. In terms of length they do run true to that length. But the width is VERY tight. I returned them. the size 11 was also very tight only longer
