After waiting to get the 550s for over a year I was so excited when I was able to grab these. They are cool looking shoes but are terribly designed. The leather is too thick at the top of the shoe so every step you take when you walk the toe creases and it literally digs into where your big toe meets your foot. Never had this problem with a pair of shoes before. Think it was either the leather was made too thick or they designed the part of the shoe that bends when you walk wrong. So uncomfortable to walk in that I have bruises and friction. blisters on the tops of my foot from wearing these. Just so uncomfortable to walk more than 20 steps in these. Great shoe with regards to materials, colorway, and retro vibe. However the fit/sizing is weird with these shoes. Some people say go true-to-size, and others say go down half a size. I went true-to-size (size 9), and the toe box area feels okay. However it is the heel area that I don't like, getting some heel slippage. I have heard some folks say you still get heel slippage if you go down half a size, but the toe box area also gets a little tight when you do that. Wearing some thicker socks seems to help with the heel slippage.

Very nice looking shoe. Have not worn them yet since getting them 2 weeks ago. The stitching is loose around the midsole which makes me think the shoes will come apart. The leather quality is not what I expected and very hard. QC 4 out of 10. Very narrow shoe. True size 9 is about a half inch larger. I recommend the high top version over low tops for a better fit.
I got these two weeks ago as I've wanted them since they came out and finally got them in my size on asos. They are lovely in person and were comfortable overall. Only thing is they are a little sore at the big toe joint due to the thicker leather just before the big toe which causes some creasing. Hoping it will ease off. Just different to the 530s which I can wear all day right away but that is as the 550s are full leather.
No secrets here, NB 550s have recently become seemingly everyone's go-to sneaker, and I totally get it. Clean lines, leather construction, throwback style that pretty much goes with any outfit for any occasion. If you don't have a pair yet, definitely add to your rotation in a colour way you like. This black pair had really good leather quality compared to some other colour ways I have seen, and I think they're super easy to wear. I switched out the laces for beige rope and it really elevates the silhouette making it appear to be one of its ALD counterparts. Highly recommend, not necessarily for comfort, but for style and dependability.
I've loved the look of the 550s for a while, and this was the first pair I managed to get my hands on. I have pretty wide feet; I wear an 8.5 in skate shoes and typically need to do a 9 in everything else. I got a size 9/EU 42.5, and the toebox looked so small when I took it out of the box I had to check to make sure I hadn't been sent a women's size 9 by accident. I managed to get my feet *in* the shoes, but the entire front half of my feet were so cramped it wouldn't have been possible to walk enough to break them in. Sadly, sizing up to a 9.5 or 10 would probably just make them way too long, so I'll likely just never get to wear this beautiful model from NB.

It doesnt help that the material around the heel is very silky and smooth so it wont grip onto your socks. (The forefoot at a sz 10.5 fit nice and comfortable though.) That being said, I sized down to a 10 and there was a SMALL amount of heel slippage. It seems like the cut around the heel is just big no matter what. The forefoot still felt fine. A bit of breaking in/wear will help though as it may feel a bit narrow at first.In conclusion, unless you have wide feet, id go half a size down. I have a 'normal' foot. and that's probably why you're checking them out. And yes, on feet they really look fantastic and tie many outfits together. However, the leather quality is questionable. Dropped mine once and now have a little permanent dent on the left toe area. Additionally, the fit is a bit weird. Size 13 felt like the right length but the shoe would slide up and down the heel thanks to the tongue being so far forward (making for a huge opening). Had to go with a size 12 even though I end up having to curl my toes a bit cause...you know...anything for the drip. The actual construction of the shoe seems extremely sturdy though, as is usually the case with NB, and it looks just as nice in person.
I had high hopes when I orders these because a friend of mine recommended them to me. Honestly I was so disappointed. I wear size 10.5 and I've never had any issues with shoes being tight the 550s are extremely narrow in the middle to the point that it was painful to wear. In terms of length they do run true to that length. But the width is VERY tight. I returned them. the size 11 was also very tight only longer
