New Balance 880 V14 Womens Wide, 7.5 / Black

The New Balance Fresh Foam X 880 v14 is a neutral daily trainer with some big updates that elevate both performance and comfort. The shoe's midsole has undergone a complete transformation. Introducing an evolved Fresh Foam X midsole with an additional 2 mm of stack height, this shoe provides runners with a smoother underfoot experience while also dropping in weight. Additionally, the heel-to-toe drop has been lowered for the first time to 8 mm from the previous version's 10mm drop to offer more cushioning in the forefoot for all-day wear. The outsole features NDurance blown rubber in a new layout with modified flex grooves to enhance durability and traction on any road surface. Completed with a single-piece upper as opposed to the two-piece upper in the last version, this soft-engineered mesh reduces weight and ensures a breathable and plush feel for longer efforts. The Fresh Foam X 880 v14 is reimagining New Balance's reliable ride to give all runners maximum comfort for their daily road miles.

880s not my shoe anymore

I tried to order this pair of shoes, but the morning after I placed my online order (to pick up in store at the Costa Mesa, CA location), it was cancelled. I was trying to purchase my 6th or 7th pair of these shoes, as I had been a loyal New Balance customer for several years. Since my order was cancelled, I took my current pair of 880s (which I ordered on Amazon, and now suspect were fakes because the heel wore out so quickly) to the Costa Mesa location, and was one of five customers in the store with three store employees helping people. The two gentlemen in front of me were also complaining about the quick wear and tear, and overall quality of their newest shoes too. I told her, but then was completely turned off by the lack of service, and said "never mind" and walked out. I still love my 327s, but I replaced my 880s with a pair of Asics GT 2000. Sorry New Balance, your new shoes don't seem to have the same quality I've enjoyed in the past, and while I love the fact their from MA, and some are made in the USA, and your new store is pretty, the quality still matters most.

I have been looking for a pair of running shoes without any type of plate or rocker geometry, something that has been proven to be difficult considering the running shoe market. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I put these on my feet and they felt like an extension of my foot in the best possible way. There is a good amount of ground feel, while also feeling supported and comforted. I have found this to be a lightweight, daily trainer that I choose over the 1080 every day due to the inherent stability of the lower stack height. This reminds me of what the Saucony Kinvara and New Balance Beacon could have been. The only complaint I have is minor, in that the upper can sometimes pinch my upper foot during high flex times, but it's transient and not bothersome ... MoreI have been looking for a pair of running shoes without any type of plate or rocker geometry, something that has been proven to be difficult considering the running shoe market. This makes the shoe uncomfortable.People with 2 E width shoe sizes are NOT GRANNIES, we dont want walkers and one pair of runners that keep shrinking in width and height as our ONLY option, we want choice. That is why 2 E shoes dont sell. I used to love womens 1080 and 530 and also some hiking shoes have width and height and dont squash the toes, but you simply dont stock them in 2 E.In the old sizing, NB shoes used to work for me. I feel discriminated against with the way things are currently and I have loved NB shoes in the past.

Perfect walking shoe, but signs of wear already.
10 June 2024

For me personally I rate these shoes a 4.5/5. Straight out of the box they fit my foot perfectly. The only thing I worried about was the heel fit a bit tight when trying on at the store but didn't have any issues when wearing them. Bought the day before leaving for a 3 week trip to Europe. Was able to put on and go, no need for breaking in. I use these shoes for walking, but did not out a lot of miles on them. The reason for dropping a star is after only 3 weeks I am already seeing tearing the fabric around the upper lace holes along with tearing if the fabric of the inserts. I would hope that for $150 plus they wouldn't show signs of tearing after less than a month of use. I can imagine if someone is using these shoes for running that the issues in the fabric would ... MoreFor me personally I rate these shoes a 4.5/5. Straight out of the box they fit my foot perfectly. But overall a great shoe for me. **I hope you release better colors as the colors for the women's shoes are horrible. I would like to buy another pair but only if more colors are released.

Plantar facsiitis-tarsal tunnel pain nearly gone!
11 July 2024

I recently got these on a recommendation to help with my plantar fasciitis. Despite what my Podiatrist told me, the custom orthotics, thicker soft heels and sterpid injects didn't help or fit the problem, but gradually made them worse. So after some research, I decided to try the opposite, and go for something that would treat me feet similarly to like I'm walking barefoot. Since my pain was generally less when barefoot. So I looked for shoes with little to no heel drop that was still somewhat soft but not too soft, and just use the inserts that come with the shoes. Also, getting the extra wide (2EE) toe box to let my feet have the space to spread out like they are suppose to when we walk.OH MY GOSH!!!! My feet felt 90-95% better immediately!! I LOVE THESE SHOES! My feet are stable, and I'm not subconsciously altering my step/gate to compensate away from my inner heel pain. I wish that these were available in a composite toe work boot. I think if they were, my pain would be resolved within a few weeks or a couple of months, and the possibility of surgery would be off the table.

Poorly made
15 June 2024

I was excited about this shoe when I ordered them. I was hoping they were going to resolve my heel pain but instead ended up worst. First, I loved the thicker sole it provided the much comfort when I walked however, overall the shoe did not feel comfortable. At first, I thought I need to loosen my laces and break in the sneakers but with each wear my feet ended up achy and throbbing. I had to completely stop wearing the shoes and disappointed that the money I spent went down the drain. I feel that the thickness of the soles took away from the top of the shoes making them fit tighter on top, if I loosen the laces any more, I wouldn't have enough lace to tie them. My feet are normal size, never had an issue with width or shoes fitting tight on me. Now adding to my ... MoreI was excited about this shoe when I ordered them. It's very tender from wearing his style of shoe. I would recommend to size up or buy a wide size.

Review of New Balance Fresh Foam X 880v14 - Womens Running Shoes
12 July 2024

Sportitude's service has always been amazing. 100% recommend. The NB 880 Version 14 shoes however are not!Now with an elasticated mesh holding in the tongues; making this shoe very tight & uncomfortable. I had to cut out the mesh in an attempt to make them wearable. I don't know what else NB has done with the 880 models, but I've found this version (and Verson 13) nowhere near as comfortable as previous models. I've been wearing 880's (D width) for over 10 years as my daily shoe for work & exercise but will now be looking for another option unfortunately :(

So Comfortable, Supportive & Attractive
31 May 2024

The Fresh Foam X 880V14 accommodates my high arches and my need for a wide toe spread. I ordered an x-wide and very glad I did. I love the outer soul of the shoe; it is very comfortable and level. It does not have a raised outer high rubber soul in back that puts pressure on the forefront of your foot. My feet can use their natural gait without my back or legs hurting. The inside of the shoe is very comfortable as well as supportive. The grey and Arctic blue color is so attractive! I have been searching for a new athletic shoe for about 8 months. I hope New Balance will keep this shoe as a mainstay.

Way too soft and clown-like
11 May 2024

I needed some new shoes for my long walks. My previous NB lasted me through the pandemic and many, many miles. These are too soft, too much spring. Even with my Superfeet insoles they are actively making my feet worse than ever before. Might be good for someone standing for long periods of time, but for walking they’re an absolute NO. They’re also clunkier looking. Very wide through the sides. I’m disappointed. I expected far more from NB and $140 pair of sneakers. Won’t be buying this model again and this pair will be relegated to the back of the closet.
