The New Balance 990v3 Made in USA is packed with rich history and remains relatively unchanged when it comes to its design and technology. Largely built upon warm tones, here, the application of a size? synonymous orange throughout - including the hallmark 990 stamp - couples perfectly with the tonal mesh that’s laid beneath and gets contrasted against a more brown shade, which makes an appearance on the tongue, heel tab, and mudguard.

Less than 1 year ago, I purchased a pair of these expense New Balance sneakers. Only wearing them on weekends, they're still in great shape except for a horrendous and unexplainable smell. So I called New Balance who shared this was a known problem. They stated that the adhesive made to construct the sole would begin to break down over time producing a foul smell. Unfortunately water would increase the horrible odor so washing the shoes is useless. They did offer a $30 credit towards a new purchase but it's obvious they don't stand behind their products. So why would I ever buy another pair of New Balances again? Offering a small credit towards a another pair of shoes is unacceptable and embarrasing. Stay far away!

Age 68, 160 pounds, narrow feet. 3-8 mile runs x4 weekly. The 991 squeezed my toes top to bottom. Also the 992. Important detail: had to buy 2A in order to get narrow and then it felt too tight for about 5-10 miles. Like a glove now.The 990 is poor on slick surfaces and anything with rocks. The carbon fiber in the arch gets beat up on gravel and rocks.Any dirt, leaves, conifer needles especially, on the trail and things deteriorate. That is reason for 4 stars rather than 5.I keep one still-good 991 for wet paved, 993 for usual running on dry paved trails in the ... The sole makes me wonder if NB thinks we all live in the city now and have no need of reliable contact with uncertain surfaces. But, I am the kind of guy who always runs mud and snow tires on my truck. BTW, my trail shoes are Salomon. No narrow NB trail shoes available. Casual wear 990 and most especially the old but still great 998, available at RRS.After all that, the 990 is currently still my favorite running shoe. And, important, made in USA.Another poster mentioned he had found a source for the 993. I certainly would like to know where, because I would buy a bunch of them.

My feet have been slowly recovering from an injury some years ago, so comfort and support are very important to me. Michael Milam, a Nordstrom Certified Fitter, had recommended these shoes to me years ago. But he noticed when I came in for a new pair that my foot was crowded in my existing shoes due to my new orthotics. He put me in a size that provided more height to compensate for that. I never knew shoes came with sizes like that. My feet love them! Very comfortable for all types of walking/standing. I have not run in them but maybe some day soon I'll be able to! Great all round shoe for athletic/walker/casual wear.
These are listed as factory seconds, but mine are indistinguishable from my original pair (which are not factory seconds)! The price was great, $100 cheaper, these are one version behind the latest 990v4 but they remain extremely comfortable. They were definitely brand new and came with the original box. They're great for running, walking and visibility as they have bright 3m sections on the toe, heel and "N" side logo. Made in the USA which means no kids were working long hours to make your pair of sneakers.
Lightweight and very comfortable with excellent stability as advertised. I use them for gym workouts and long walks. They wear well. The upper fabric doesn't degrade like many other athletic shoes. Quality is top notch. They were more expensive than most shoes I have purchased in the past, so I was a little wary when buying my first pair. I was so impressed after more than six months use that I just ordered two pair to keep around for the future. NB tends to change styles yearly, so I did not want to miss out. I have the 990v3. Great reflection for night visibility. Buy 1/2 size up for best fit.I really like the sharp looks, so they can double as a casual shoe. I also like the "made in USA" label.
I have very substantial orthotics to prevent pronation. The rubber pad on the forefoot is 5 mm thick. The heel and arch are rigid plastic covered by the same rubber. The heel is 20 mm thick and the arch is 48 mm. I tried every 4 and 5 level cushioned and stability shoe. In every case but one, the midsole gave so much that the orthotic's arch was driven into my foot and was uncomfortable. In the 990 v3 (for $$ reasons), the midsole is firm enough at all points so that the arch is not driven into my foot. Note that the 990 is one of the few shoes with a slip last. Consider it if you have a heavy duty orthotic.
Alright let's start off with a little background on me. I am 6', athletic, in my late teens, about to head off to college, and all my friends seem to think I'm pretty fashionable (in a southern fraternity kinda way.) I have always had back pain, but never really got around to going to a doctor... because shoot doesn't everyone get back pain?? Well... I did finally get around to going and seeing a chiropractor and who would've guessed- I have a herniated disc with about 5 years of deterioration. yay. And guess what was the first thing he noticed? My Cole Haan air grant drivers. He said to stop wearing those and any shoes like them (minimal support and structure) immediately. Here's a little tip for you if you're having back pain- your shoes should bend at ONLY the toe ... I was absolutely DEVASTATED. He recommended I wear "sneakers" every day. I then looked at him like he was three headed llama. But, seeing as I'm still a few years away from 20 and already experiencing the same thing as uhhhm probably your dad, I figured I'd give it a shot. I did a bit of research and kinda perked up when I saw that these shoes were some of the best. A lot of my buddies had already been wearing them, so it's not like I'm going to be the goob wearing "sneakers" every day. These shoes feel great, and have a real classic look to them that I just love. My dad even said he wore the exact same shoes his freshman year of college! Very versatile and beyond comfortable. Oh and I can wear anything from a 10 to an 11 depending on the shoe, and a 10.5 fits perfectly, so I'd say they're true to size. And hey you gotta love that they're made right here in the USA! Good luck shoe buyers!
I have tons of NB shoes, and love them all, but I always keep coming back to the 990v3.the v3 is probably one of the best "all-around" silhouettes ever made by New Balance. it's fashionable and unique, but has classic comfort, a very wide toebox, and great support!all 990s run about a quarter size large. the V3 is slightly less loose than the v1 and V2 though, so I don't recommend sizing down here. even still, it's loose. I use an upgraded NB insole to help tighten up the fit. This pack in particular, made with Teddy Santis as creative director, is FANTASTIC. quality is high, even for NB, and it's such a classic colorway.11/10 shoe, knocked this right out of the park
New Balance is comfortable, so I took this opportunity to buy it from Finish Line. They shipped right after confirming the order, so I was able to receive the product in a short time. The product was also very good because it came without any problems with double packaging.Currently, it is out of stock on the official New Balance website, so I decided to buy something else. However, I was able to purchase this product because it was left in the finish line. I was so happy to be able to give myself such a perfect gift.Lastly they deliver perfect. It was really convenient to help with tracking by message.
