I love the fit and almost no break-in period. I usually cycle thru 3 pairs. Not concerned about the vegan spin one way of the other. As long as they can survive as long as the pigskin product. Running in all conditions is tough on the shoes.

Nice shoes. Still not a replacement for my coveted usa made 996's. They are comfortable, but like most synthetic shoes, they don't breath well.I would challenge you all to make something closer to an all natural shoe. Leather, cotton, natural rubber. That would amazing.I think when we are still at a point where synthetics, especially synthetic leathers, are quite costly on an environmental level. As long as we are consuming meat, the whole animal should be utilized. That's far more responsible.Anyway, it's a nice shoe, for what it is. And far better than the Chinese manufactured garbage they replaced.

I have been wearing New Balance 990 series shoes since 2008. I have probably owned around 15 pairs. I usually purchase 1 new pair every year and it is pretty much the only shoe that I wear. In 2017, I transitioned to an all vegan diet and lifestyle. Despite of this transition, I continued to wear my New Balance 990's, but I was having a pretty hard time wearing something that I knew was from animal products. I probably searched the internet and reddit 100 times to find a vegan equivalent of a 990 shoe, but all of them fell short. I know that as time goes on and newer versions of the vegan friendly come out, there will be no difference in the overall feel and quality, If you are purchasing these shoes like myself because of the fact that you are looking for a vegan friendly 990 that is free from all animal products, then you won't be disappointed. It feels good knowing that I am wearing my favorite shoe of all time, and that no animals were harmed in the process.Thank you New Balance for creating these.
This is a great everyday shoe. It is a classic style and silhouette but with the novelty of new textures from more sustainable materials. I'm happy to have a timeless footwear choice made vegan friendly. This way my ethics don't have to interfere with the dad life drip. Fit and feel is just like every 990 I've known and loved. Please make vegan NB ubiquitous.
I already had a pair of 990v5's but couldn't resist getting the "Vegan Friendly" version because of their unique look. New Balance hit another home run with this shoe and I love it. I've only had a chance to wear them once and the usual NB comfort is definitely there. I think it'll take a couple more wears to break them in to the same feel as my other v5's. Max comfort and look!

Super high quality, super comfy shoes! Really enjoying them! And super proud that they are made in USA!! I just wish there were more USA made models available, in particular, lighter walking ones like 1165v1 which I absolutely love. Will absolutely buy these again!
Went through a pair of 993s every year for several years before switching to sock like uppers and more pillowy soles, from another shoe company. It's so good to be back. These provide the support that my forty something back and hips need. Especially for a dad at this age. Maybe it's cool to look like a dad now but sometimes it hurts haha. Can't say enough great things about the support these provide and how well they're holding up (even this vegan version) after weeks of being the only thing on my feet.
My girlfriend wanted some 990's but because she's vegan she didn't want to buy the regular version. As soon as i found out there was a vegan version releasing, I made sure to get her a pair. They are made with the same quality as the originals without the suede/leather. She loves them and hopes they decide to release more colors.
