I needed a good shoe that was comfortable for everyday anything use. I use this for walking around home and doing work both in and out. The other pair is for the YMCA. Color selection is really limited. I had two choices, both were the same color but one had brown on the side of the sole. Not an improvement. I do wish there were other styles available in my size. But at least New Balance has one model in my size. Thank You

These shoes are well made. You can see and feel the quality. The fit is perfect for me. There is a good balance of cushion and stability. There is plenty room in the toe box. I can wear these shoes all day. I would like to see more color ways offered in the future.

These are amazing as all 990s are. These have fantastic reflective hits, which I believe are the best ones yet. You can wear them all day to work and feel comfy and supported. This color is so classic it will look good with anything, dressed up or down. For sizing, I would suggest going half a size down from your normal size as it is long. It is also great that there are many width options for this sneaker. Excellent quality as always and as an added bonus it's cool that it's Made in the USA. Once you get your correct size and width in these, you'll be reaching for these all the time. Sneaker of the Year 10/10
Another great 99X pair from New Balance. I had been a fan of Made in USA 99X for years - sure they are premium pricing but 100% worth it. The look is classic and most of them had been super comfortable. I love this refreshed design over the previous generation of 990 - not a big fan of the "wing" on the 990 v5. In terms of comfort, this one is definitely much better than the 990 v4, and probably slightly better than my other favorite 993. In terms of sizing, I'd say this runs a bit wider than 993/990v4 though - I have wider feet, I wear 10.5EE or 11D on a couple 993s and 990v4, I got this 990v6 in 10.5EE as well and I feel it runs a bit wider - however, if I had try this on before I buy, I probably would have stayed with 10.5EE anyway.
I would say it runs TTS (I have a Men's size 9) HOWEVER it does have some slight space at the front of the toe box if you're ok with that, as well as a slight bit of looseness at the back of the heel but that shouldn't be an issue if you choose the right lacing pattern, and if you're walking around in them all day like I am that bit of extra space comes in handy as the day goes on. Super soft mesh and suede paneling, the most comfortable 990 yet with the addition of FuelCell, I should expect nothing less! This shoe is such a breathe of fresh air for the 990 line, if you do decide to purchase them you won't be disappointed. I know I wasn't.
The 990v6 is supposed to have more cushioning but feels almost the same as 990v5. I would have been ok and give it 5 stars but the fit is worse than previous generations. The 990v6 is longer and narrower (more snug on the upper around the toe box which drives me nuts because I like to splay my toes for a comfort shoe like this) so I'm not sure if I recommend buying half size down and/or getting the wide fit version. Overall, get the 990v6 if you want something new or want a tighter fit than the 990v5 but I'll stick with 990v5 (and also 990v3 which is close to the fit of 990v5).
I love these shoes. They are comfortable. They look good. The nice grey color goes with everything. I can wear these with most outfits wether I'm wearing sweatpants or jeans. I like that they are made in the USA. The materials feel high quality.Other shoe company's quality has gone downhill and I'm tired of trying to "win" them on garbage apps with limited quantities and insane resale prices.SIZING - I normally wear a 13 in other brands. I went with 12.5 after seeing many other reviews recommending going down half a size, and I'm very glad I did. These fit perfect and they still have a tiny bit of room to spare.
While stylish or not is subjective, FuelCell and ENCAP midsole definitely make it an outstanding pair of shoes for me in terms of comfort. However, the quality control is quite poor. You will probably suffer if you are picky about shoe construction and expect premier quality due to the price. Be prepared to receive something like glues here and there, off-centered/tilted logo placement, and/or visually asymmetric between your left and the right one.
I have worn these a couple times now, and they are very light and comfortable. As an all-day everyday shoe, I would definitely travel with these. For sizing (since that's what I am always looking for online), I commonly wear an 11 in Nike, an 11.5 in Adidas Ultraboost, and I found that the 10.5 in the 990v6 fit me better than the 11, which was too boxy and long in the toe. My son is a sneaker snob like me, and he really liked the styling. In the long-run, this new version will fit in nicely among the classic 990's. It's just different enough to feel new while maintaining the classic look of previous versions. I no longer have my v3 to compare them to, but from what I recall, these are already more comfortable.
