Berfect for recovery through light tempo runs.My only issue is the colorward are super lame. I mean really lame. The green or yellow looks like urine. The 1080v14 is a significant improvement to what was an already solid running shoe. This new version has the same cushion that you expect from a 1080, but with noticeably more support than previous versions. For someone who usually needs a stability shoe and some orthotics, the added support made a big difference in terms of both comfort and pace/function. After almost 100 miles, they’ve broken in nicely and will definitely be in my daily driver shoe rotation.Aside from the design updates, I also really like the aesthetic tweaks! They’re subtle, but make for a nice update. The shoe’s profile seems a bit more streamlined — particularly the lower. The new colorways are great too! 10/10 update all around.

Really loving these shoes, especially for recovery runs and slower long runs! As a 5'11" 185lb runner training for 2 fall marathons, I have been clocking about 50 miles per week. The New Balance 1080 v14 builds upon the v13s and is positioned as a solid daily trainer. After testing them out, my overall impression was… well, just “okay.” The shoes perform fine, but I can’t help but feel New Balance needs to go back to the drawing board. With the v13s, the excessive foam made it feel like I was running through sand, and after just one 5K, I stopped wearing them—exhausted and frustrated. Thankfully, the v14s are a bit firmer, which means I no longer felt like I had to work extra hard to get an average result. But while that’s an improvement, there’s still something missing. The shoe lacks that spark or energy return that makes other trainers in this price range more exciting to run in. I’m not asking for a speed shoe or a carbon plate like in race-day shoes, but I expected something that propels my run a bit more. As a daily trainer, they’re decent, but there’s nothing particularly impressive or “wow”-worthy about them. For fit: I found these shoes to be a little tight when going to true to size so definitely go a half size up, your toes will thank you.For color: Yes, the desert green (or whatever they end up calling the green/tan shoe) is as ugly as it looks. Save yourself and buy a different color.

[Rewarded Review] Excellent Comfort and Cushion
17 September 2024

After 50 miles, the 1080v14 has proven to be a very cushioning, comfortable long run trainer. I didn’t feel like stability was sacrificed for stack height during long, easy miles. The upper is thick and plush, which may be appreciated in colder weather, but felt warm and retained sweat on hot days. I’m sometimes between sizes 9 1/2 and 10, with 9 1/2 feeling cramped on hot days or long runs when feet can swell. Outsole has thickened rubber tread pads at key wear points which should help prolong tread life. The 1080v14 in a size 10 for me felt more than spacious even in heat, so maybe size down if in doubt. Recommended for easy pace and long runs, walkers, or as work shoes for people who work on their feet and can wear sneakers. The NB Fresh Foam 1080v14 is a sneaker someone would enjoy if you are looking for a Daily Trainer that will last. If you had a previous iteration of the Fresh Foam 1080, you are going to like this one. For those who haven't tried it yet, I would highly recommend this shoe. The Fresh Foam is very plush and will keep your legs fresh for hours. Even without a plate, the shoes are responsive and provides a very soft landing which many can appreciate. If you tend to struggle with stability, this is a shoe you can look to for your daily training as well. If you want to pick up the pace, you can, but there are other better suited New Balance options for speedier days.Step in Feel:True to size. If you've had a previous version of the 1080 or even the Rebel, you can go true to size. Plenty of room in the toe box. It struggles a little bit with breathability, but provides just enough to be comfortable. There is plenty of foam throughout the entire shoe making all foot striking positions very comfortable for short to long runs.Run Feel:I have taken this for a 8, 10, and 15 mile run. These are days where they were easy runs in Zone 2 - Zone 3 HR. These felt awesome. Fresh Foam is famous for being comfortable and and very plush, and that stays true for v14. Having run in the Rebel, More V5, and the SC Trainers, this one is sits right in between the Rebel and More V5. The Rebel is lighters and provides a more responsive feel, but isn't as plush or comfortable for long runs. It is not as big and bulky as the More V5 which makes it a perfect daily trainer for easy runs. For the 8 - 10 mile runs, there was plenty of support to be able to pick up the pace if desired. Although, its important to note that because Fresh Foam is super soft, it won't have a kick back like the Rebel or an SC Trainer may have. For the 15 miler, the shoe was awesome through the later miles. As the legs, feet, and body starts to fatigue, the support of the shoe helped carry the way, something super important to have when the legs want to stop. This shoe is best fitted for Mid foot to Heel strikers. However, it should be noted that there is plenty of foam throughout the entire foot, making for a very comfortable run regardless. Fresh Foam is a wonderful under-foot material that helps alleviate any hard contact on the ground, again, great for easy runs and days where you may be fatigued. One thing I did want to call out is although relatively breathable, I had a few hot spots here and there on warmer days towards the fore-foot. This might be a personal issue, but something to be aware for longer and hotter runs. Another thing to add is that for a relatively tall shoes, its pretty stable which is fantastic for uneven running surfaces.Other Comparison:The closest non-New Balance shoe this compares to is the NovaBlast from Asics. Both shoes have plenty of foam underfoot, and not scared to do some pick-up work. The main difference is that the NovaBlast is a bit more bouncy and responsive, but for the longer miles, it may be a little more difficult if you need that extra under-foot support. In terms of stability, its less stable than the New Balance More V5, but much more stable than some other Daily Trainers such as the Invisible Run 3, Saucony Hurricane, etc. New Balance truly is the king of stability.Overall thoughts:This shoe is awesome. If you are looking for something for your daily miles, this is the shoe for you. The Fresh Foam line has been known as a line for longevity, comfortability, and performance. I am happy to report that this is true for this new version as well. I have been extremely pleased at over 30 miles, and it looks to have plenty of life on it left.

Having gone through 2 pairs of the 1080 V13's as my daily trainers, I was excited to see how something I thought was already great become even better. And that was the case with the 1080 V14 thus far. Since receiving the shoes, I have put 50 miles on them, majority coming from 5-7 mile standard runs but also putting them through a 7 mile hill speed workout & a 10 mile long run. I knew for my daily runs these would be great- from my experiences with the V13s. But thinking back and comparing them to the previous V13s, the most notable differences would be the added cushioning where the V14 appears to sit a little taller when I put them next to the V13s, the toe box knitting definitely got an upgrade and the responsiveness with how cushioned they are I feel like these ... MoreHaving gone through 2 pairs of the 1080 V13's as my daily trainers, I was excited to see how something I thought was already great become even better. Also with most of my runs primarily on the road the build quality has been solid so far and I am expecting to get 400-500 miles out of this pair where as before I would retire at 330-350. All in all- the V13s were a great pair of trainers that just needed a few tweaks to make them better and I feel with the V14 New Balance addressed those issues and made a great pair even better.

This was the first NB fresh foam shoe I've tried, and it has definitely exceeded my expectations. Especially when the mileage starts to ramp up, having a comfortable, stable, and pain-free daily shoe to protect your legs is very important. After putting 35 miles on the v14, I can safely say it exceeds all those criteria. The shoe has a super soft landing compared to other dailies, but not soft to the point where it feels unstable like some. The upper is super breathable, which was especially noticeable in the late summer heat, however, it did feel a little tight on my foot for my first set of runs. The shoe has a very slight rocker which I felt to push me forward just the littlest bit.Although I've only had the shoes for 2 weeks, I still find myself gravitating ... MoreThis was the first NB fresh foam shoe I've tried, and it has definitely exceeded my expectations. I am a huge fan of the New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080v14s! I have a neutral foot type and these perfectly support my feet, they’re also super cushiony and comfortable. The upper is breathable, and the tongue is nicely padded, making my foot feel snug in the shoe. I have used them as both a daily trainer and also a lifestyle shoe. On runs they felt supportive and absorbed a decent amount of the impact every time my foot struck the pavement. I also wore them to work, which I commute to via walking and public transit. They keep my feet happy after a whole day of walking between the office and my home. Overall I’m quite happy with the 1080v14s and the way they feel on my feet.
