Okay pros : The shoe is lightweight and has good grip for the life span of the shoe . It’s somewhat sporty looking with a okay design which for me was true to size … Now the negatives : Mesh upper felt cheap with a rough scratchy feel . Which inside of shoe near tongue sewed area plus toe box gave me a burning sensation . The fresh foam x midsole did not feel protective in anyway felt rubber of shoe through midsole instantly when trying on the shoe . Couple of minutes in I noticed idk if it’s the way it’s designed our how I sat in the shoe but I started to get ankle pain . As time continues it started to continue up my leg to my knee then to my hip which became very noticeable and painfully uncomfortable . For my experience the 880 v14 has a lot to be desired and needs a lot more work to make it a competitive shoe especially at its price point . 1st should not feel rubber through the shoe if it’s a workhorse firm cushion felt more like no cushion underfoot . 2nd mesh should not be scratchy at the price asking point should be a better quality material . Let’s just say midsole and upper was not what was expected and needs work for a shoe that’s supposed to be a workhorse and a quality longevity shoe for mileage…

Fits great for my wide forefoot. Not too many pressure points and I have tailor's bunions on the lateral sides of my feet. Chose this style for the accomodating last.Enough support and cushioning for longer distances but equally as comfortable and suited to intervals or quicker pace. Needed a jack of all trades shoe and this fit the bill. You can feel the surface beneath you - so if you want a soft ride, get the 1080 or the More instead.Have logged about 40km in these since I got them and they are fulfilling my needs with no real downsides.

A big plug for shopping New Balance Direct. I see a big different in shoe Quality and Newness with ordering directly from New Balance versus the "A" mega online retailer. When ordering from New Balance direct you treated as a VIP customer. New Balance returns were easy, fast and the refund was applied to my credit card quickly.I liked the color, style and comfort. I run 18 miles per week for 40+ years (3 miles/6 days). I needed cushy support for my knees and weekly runs. I did notices after a 3 mile run my feet heated up. I recommend for shorter runs.I originally purchased 11 EE/W, but the width was too tight. I returned shoes and replaced with 11 EEEE/X-W and shoes fit perfectly. This is a good shoe! Very lightweight compared to my previous pair (FuelCell Echo Triple). It’s got a nice tread pattern that shares some similarity with the Fresh Foam Cruz V3. The midsole being Fresh Foam is supple and bouncy and there’s plenty of support. The upper is knit so it’s plenty breathable above the toes/lower foot. The tongue is robust which keeps your foot (and the tongue itself) locked in position. I went with the black on black colorway and it has a really clean look. This is my first pair of 880 and I’m glad that the silhouette isn’t overly “foamy”. This is the type of shoe that’s suitable for a wide variety of walking/running/training. My only complaint with the construction is that the printing on the heal area of the insole flakes out very ... MoreThis is a good shoe! I've been runnning in 880s for a long time. The new ones seem good, though I'm not sure how much I like the extra foam. That said, the sizing of NB shoes drives me crazy. I wear a 10.5 in the 1080s; 11 in the 880s; and 10 in the 877 walking shoe. BUT, the inner soles for all of these shoes is exactly the same. Why not be consistent in your sizing? I do appreciate that these shoes come in 4E, since that's the only width that doesn't hurt my feet. Finally, I can report that running in the 1080s gave me knee pain for the first time (runner's knee). Overall, though, I have a positive view of NB shoes.
This shoe has been great this far for my first half marathon training. It’s a high quality material shoe. It’s a middle of the road weight. FANTASTIC, low arch and ankle support. The top of my foot hasn’t gotten sore from the laces (a common problem I have with shoes). One of the only things I would change is the insole, it doesn’t offer much but the shoe has been amazing with my Currex insoles. I think for a shoe that’s catered to flatter and wider footed runners it would be great to see a little more effort put into the factory insole. Overall HIGHLY recommend the Fresh Foam 880v14, also a very sexy/classic look too!
I have worn 880’s for many years. About every 3 versions, New Balance produces one that is a clunker. Unfortunately, V14 is their latest clunker. It seems there has been some minor redesign of the back of the shoe and whatever it was, I have ended up with sores on the back of both of my feet. Never had this problem before with any other version of 880’s. All I can ask is, please go back to the previous heal design. I will not be able to wear these shoes for either running or everyday walking and I’m planning on stocking up on the previous 880 version whenever I can find them. For me, the V14’s are a big waste of money!
I have run 880s for years but i wasn’t happy with this model. The toe box is too loose/ roomy, mainly because of the knit of the upper I think. And this is coming from a female runner with D / 2E width feet. I returned the 880s and replaced them with 1080s which have a better fitting more racey upper. The cushioning of the 1080 is something to get used to but I’ve been really enjoying it on long run days (have different shoes for speed work). The 1080 will be my shoe for Two Oceans Ultra. The 880 remains a good all round workhorse shoe but that looseness won’t be everyone’s cup of tea
As always DSG had a large selection of every style of New Balance’s. My son was born w/ flat feet (he is now 17 and a Senior) and has been wearing New Balance’s his whole life. Typically, for a casual look or weight lifting he has always worn the retro 515’s or 574’s. But, w/in a week of adding a 3-5 mile run to his workout regimen he started getting blisters. He had a large callus already forming on his toe. So we knew he needed to get sneakers specifically for running ASAP. He headed to DSG first (as always) and bought, “New Balance Fresh Foam X 880v14 Running Shoes for Men” so far they are a perfect fit for him.P.s. after we treated the callus & blisters w/ a homemade remedy both cleared up & neither have returned.
I love the way these feel on my feet , by far the greatest shoes I’ve ever invested in. They are lightweight fully cover my entire foot equally balanced. I bought my first pair back in 2019 for the chevron marathon and haven’t looked back I bought my second pair two weeks ago. I generally walk/jog between 6-9 miles daily I can generally wear them for any daily activity . These shoes have great support and are super comfortable!! Hands down best shoe on the market. New balance definitely out did themselves with these I’ll definitely be buying another pair.
