First off, I'm not ever willing to pay more than $100 on athletic shoes. Seconds, having to wear a size 15 make every other shoe company think I will. But when I do find this shoe in my size, I will buy 2 to 4 pair at once. For the price, they work for what I use them for. I do need to put an extra insole in them, but i have very thin feet. The toes tend to peel when wet often. But that's no big deal to me. But once wet, the front will begin to separate quickly. Overall, the price, availability in my size, and, yes, are made in the USA, is why I buy these shoes.

I have long, wide, old feet -- hard to fit. I sent two completely different brands back before I got my New Balance shoes. NEW BALANCE TO THE RESCUE!!! These fit so well that taking my dog on 2-mile walks is so pleasant that my feet feel as well when we finish as when we started. The cushioning is quite sufficient for me, and the toe box is wide enough so that the sides of the show don't rub on my feet. The first time I put the shoes on, they were stiff and just Ok. BUT after three walks in them, they limbered up, and I now rate them as the best fitting, most comfortable tennis shoies I have owned -- ever.

I use the shoe for walking. Maybe 8 miles a week, don't wear them otherwise, I'm in Hawaii. I walk on the sidewalk or street. At about 6 months part of the tread on the bottom of the shoe came unglued. Since I bought directly on the New Balance website I went through there return process, but it was slightly more than 6 months, so could not return. They ended up giving me a $40 credit which I used to buy a new pair. This was about 50% off. So, now Should I have had to buy a new pair after 6 months of light use? No, I don't think so, the tread just wasn't well adhered. It was barely worn, and the rest of the shoe was pristine. Am I okay with paying $40 and now I have a new pair. Yeah, mostly. But I'm giving 3 stars as I shouldn't have had to go through the hassle.

I wear this shoe at least once a day. My old New Balance shoes 623 I wore for 18 years and they finally had a blow out sole of shoe came loose. I had originally bought my 623 shoes to walk around Disney World with my grandchildren and they were the best shoes i have ever owned. That is why i bought another pair of New Balance shoes. The very best buy for the money hands down. If you are looking for a good pair of shoes New Balance has you covered. I still have them and I am 74 years old and never had such a shoe last as long.
I use these 608's as everyday wear. I like the leather exterior finish of these shoes. They hold up to rough work environments, all the others have a nylon mesh exterior which snags and rips. I keep one pair for going out, so they stay looking good. My other pair I use and abuse, like I said, leather exterior so they hold up. They do have slits or vents half way down each side of the front, so they breathe. I don't run or jog anymore so can't comment on that. Bought directly from New Balance Online because they had my size in stock. It was a smooth transaction. I have wide feet, mens 9 1/2 4E. I've worn this style NB shoe for about five years. Usually a new pair every 9-12 months. It's getting very hard to find shoes that are leather....not mesh.I use them for both work and "Saturday" wear and find them comfortable. Because they are leather they keep my feet clean, warm and dry. Mesh shoes just don't work for my every day wearing. My previous style number was difficult to find this time around so I chose this model.Basically they are equivalent to my preferred model EXCEPT for the soles. These are promoted as "work" shoes and they have a more "indoor" sole pattern....very smooth slip resistant style- not the more rugged walking or sports type of sole.I will be keeping them mostly because leather sneakers are getting pretty hard to find.
I have used 608 going back for decades. Previous versions had a broad spectrum of color patterns to choose from. And of course the option to purchase a wider width makes this NB model second to none. The V5 is by far the worst version of the shoe that I have tried. Not only was there such a diminished number of color options but the shoe itself was redesigned to be less-than previous versions. Especially noteworthy was the disastrous choice to change the design of the outsole from a single piece of rubber to 3 separate pieces of rubber. My experience with V5 is that the 3 separate pieces made the outsole more susceptible to pealing off of the midsole. Hope that a V6 comes out soon and New Balance restores the care and design that were present in previous versions of ... MoreI have used 608 going back for decades. I've worn New Balance sneakers for a lot of years. The last two models I bought fit well but were discontinued when I went to buy a new pair. This is the new model I settled on. It's a little smaller than the last model so my right toes rub a little. Other than that they seem fine. The only other complaint is that the shoelaces are way too long. I had to cut them and buy new heat shrink ends to seal up the cuts. Otherwise they drag on the ground and get caught all the time.
I purchased four pairs of all white MX608V5 13 4E and all arrived and tested okay for one day of use although one new left MX608V5 white shoe worried me with a loose interior heel footbed cushion I could feel not proper within the first few minutes wearing and walking. I nervously risked continued using the problem shoe and was comfortable with the resolved attachment and limited slip after a few hours of wearing the shoe and walking a little on stairs, carpet, and tile in my home. WARNING - I was getting into a lot of use to request a return with the pair of shoes with extra slip concern and could have been denied a return after the hours of wearing and continuing to test the problem the shoe. I am very happy the New Balance MX608V5 product with extra wide 4E sizing is available in all white or all black pairs.
I have worn 608s for more than 10 years. It was and still is a great shoe; straight last, roomy toe, good heel. However, the several shoes I just purchased have "Comfort Insert"s that have all sorts of hard-to-notice-unless-you-pull-the-insert-out texturing and cushioning clumps that mess up the feel of the shoe for the bottom of the foot. For those of you that know this shoe (and most of other shoes I have bought from NB), the insole insert was flat and plain and just fine. I can't wear the shoe with this new insert so what to do? I've looked up NB insoles - there are 16 of them! and they all are close to the cost of a new shoe. A nuisance of time and money. I've reached out to NB but my question has been blown off. Am I the only one put off by this "improvement"?
